I just finished "The Kite Runner" which was very touching and poignant. 1/3 the way through "The Pillars of the Earth" which is a fantastic book that follows the lives of different groups of people, a family and a monk so far (I think another will be introduced shortly). 4 stars, it's a classic, I really should have read it sooner.

Mainly because one of the points that the series makes is that Harry is the world's only publicly practicing wizard. Most people don't believe in the supernatural or magic. Butcher can really craft a good story though and Harry's become my favorite series. Much better than a certain other wizard named Harry I could mention.

The Silver Shadow - FW Boreham The next on my list is probably Max Lucado or Ravi Zacharias depending on which one I grab off the shelf.

"Saturday" by Ian McEwan Interesting political /ethical dialogues with the main character... nice to see a "morally good" person portrayed. One problem though...I get the feeling the author really thinks he's intelligent and tries to tell you that he's a smart guy through his characters. It's mildly distracting/annoying. Anyone read his "Atonement"? (The one they made the movie out of) Or any of his other books? Is he always this smug? (the author I mean, not the characters) I'd be interested to know.

I tend to read several stories at once, but due to moving (and I'll be moving again soon) I've put all fiction works to the side for now. At the moment I'm reading a historical book about the biological research units in occupied China during WWII - Factories of Death by Sheldon Harris.

Rereading Tisha. It's out of print now, but if you can find it, it's a great read! It's about a 19 year old woman in 1927 who goes into the Alaskan territory to be a teacher. It's a true story.
