Harold Reed ROCKS on "Joy's Gonna Come In The Morning." [:)][:)]

BillBaileyBFAFan -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (6/28/2008 8:55:14 PM)

yeah, I bet he would do very well on that song. Is that recorded anywhere?? It's a shame that with alot of older songs, you never get to hear newer guys do them, unless you go to a concert, or unless the songs were just extremely popular. I'd love to see the Kingsmen go back and do another album like they did Big and Live, wheere they did Not Quite as Big but Just as Live Again...although that's one heck of a title.haha

Next Cloud is one that I really loved, and would like to see it recorded again, that and Hallelujah Moment.

BillBaileyBFAFan -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (6/28/2008 9:01:26 PM)

Speaking of Live, why dont the Kingsmen do live videos for all the albums anymore? I know they have the 2 new DVDS, but in general, it seemed like they stopped all of the sudden. It used to be, when a new album was released, there was a video that came out with those new songs and some older ones too.
I have alot that were like that.
Live at Alabama Theatre
Live at the Peace Center
Georgia Live
Beyond the Clouds
You're Not alone (was priviledged to be there when it was filmed)
Shelter

But after shelter, I dont remember them putting out any more vids until now. it's possible i missed one between then and now, but I dont think so.

I dont understand your quote of me there. I think Harold is an excellent tenor, and ranks right up there with Kingsmen tenors are far as I'm concerned.

I replied to tenorsister's post, (She included your quote).

I do agree with you, Harold is an EXCELLENT tenor![:D]

KingsmenQuartetFan -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (7/2/2008 11:34:52 AM)

Probably a matter of money. I'm sure those things cost a lot to produce. I'm happy to now have 4 Kingsmen DVD's. The two new ones, plus the first two Kingsgold they released on DVD. Hope there will be more! I have all their Vhs videos they made too.

There was "The Old Time Way" , wasn't really a Live Concert video, but they recorded it live in the studio while making their cd project of that same name. I really liked it.

Yeah, I remember that one. I never had it. I had the tape though.

A funny thing about the You're Not Alone video, and I guess all groups do it, but the video was not sequential. The songs on the video were no where close to the order that they sang them on stage. Is that typical???

.Plus it was kind of neat to see how they do videos...there were 2 songs that after the filming part was over, they re-did, because something was wrong with the recording.

Also, before the concert they had everyone clap really loudly..then a light clap...and then a laugh, like after a joke...I guess they were getting applause canned for when it would have appeared in the video...
pretty interesting stuff, or at least I thought so, having never been to a live vid. before.

rt.harrison -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (7/3/2008 2:53:39 PM)

Hey I am pretty excited! The Kingsmen have always been my favorite and they are gonna be near me on Saturday night. They are performing in Bryan Hutson's hometown of St. Albans, WV which is right across the river from my hometown. Makes ya wanna invite them to dinner! I have never been so comfortable as when I am talking with one of my true musical heroes, Ray Dean Reese. It feels like Saturday will never get here. Well if it doesn't all it means is I can listen to them for eternity rather than just a couple of hours.

You sure about that......I know at least one Kingsmen who can put away some vittles.[sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]

rt.harrison -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (7/7/2008 12:10:03 PM)

Ya know, tenorsister, after Saturday night I can imagine you are right! I won't call any names, but I bet you would be hard pressed to get your arms around a certain "Bear" and give him a "Huggy". It was most definitely a blessing to see and hear them again. And although I am not a crier, the message that these men bring can always bring me to tears. And when they went into the past and sang "Beautiful Home", well, I lost it. I was 18 years old and a quartet in our church asked me to fill in for their bass singer because I loved that song and they sang it a lot.

And praise God, they are coming back to this area next month, with the Dixie Echos who I have NEVER had the privilege of seeing in person.

Sorry I rambled but it is hard not to when talking about your favorites.

I believe Bryan Hutson's hometown is in southern Indiana. I think he lived in St Albans for a while when he was a worship pastor.

rt.harrison -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (7/7/2008 4:48:08 PM)

Yes, I meant to correct myself on that. I found that out on Saturday night. Sorry for posting incorrect information.

KingsmenQuartetFan -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (7/23/2008 11:40:49 PM)

**Disclaimer**:
This is just my opinion, but wouldnt it be awesome if Ray could get Matthew Holt(former pianist for the Perrys)to play piano for the Kingsmen! That would be totally awesome because Matthew is the modern day Anthony Burger and I know Matthew is a big fan of the Kingsmen

What do yall think?

youngartist -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (7/24/2008 8:36:58 AM)

Good idea - don't see it happening. It took alot to pull Matt away from Joe and the Perrys, and whatever that was (family, college, etc.), I don't see him joining another group soon.

It was family (having a baby in the house) and finding a musical job close to home.

quartetguru -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (7/26/2008 1:16:34 PM)

Yeah, that would be a good fit. Raydean needs to talk to Mr Holt.

robertyork -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (8/9/2008 12:11:57 PM)

Has anyone heard whether or not The Kingsmen are still thinking about bringing the band back?

DJSfromCleveland -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (8/9/2008 12:16:42 PM)

Last i heard they were still wanting to get one back. But when, i don't know?

S-Llama -> RE: The Kingsmen Thread (8/11/2008 10:58:01 AM)

I saw them in Lebanon, Mo last Thursday night at the 40th annual Brumley Gospel sing....I talked to Brandon afterwards and they are auditioning piano players to find the exact person...so they can get the band back together.

That night, they had Eric Ollis (who plays for the Whisnants) fill in for them....he was great.

I like them without the band, but they ended with Beautiful Home.....well, with Eric on the piano they put the three chords and a cloud of dust on the end and started doing an encore of it. Well, out popped the drummer for Jeff and Sherri Easter (they were also on the program that night). And he started playing with them and the magic happened. I can't explain it. They ended up having to do it two more times......that is what the band means to the Kingsmen.

The Kingsmen were phenonomal!!!
