I'd say it is the best one they have released in five years along with "Ready" by the Carolina Boys. "Ready" has alot of great songs on it as well.

Right on, Josh! I LOVE "Ready." Songs like "I'm Going There," I'm Ready To Go," "Call On Jesus," and others take this cd to great places.

Like I said before, great minds think alike.

Yes it does, "Where Would You Go" is a great song too, it has a great meaning to it.

I've always loved their CD called "Ready". What's funny about it is, it features Randy Crawford singing the lead, but he is not pictured on the cover of the CD, cause he left right before they released the CD, but you can clearly hear him singing on it.

Really?!?! I did not know that. I have always been wondering who was singing the lead on that cd. I knew that Tim Surrett was singing baritone and Derick Boyd singing tenor, and Ray singing bass. How do you know that David???????

David was a fan back then, so he would have been able to keep month-by-month track of their progress.

* On another side note, about the Kingsmen concert i attended, OK, i am 43 yrs. old. But as i looked around the room, i believe i was , by far, the youngest one at that whole concert. I would say the average age was around 70. That kinda worries me, where's the young people?.... although it was a Thursday nite, so maybe the youngens had to stay in and do homework, etc.

Take heart, my friend.....you must have just hit "one of those nights"
The last Kingsmen concert I attended was a few weeks ago, with Brian Free & Assurance and Big Jim Hammil....
I'm 57, and I was FAR from the oldest person there.....
There was a LOT of people in their 20's and 30's there.....and some teenagers too.....
I see the same thing most of the time around here, ESPECIALLY at Fullerville Baptist Church in Villa Rica Georgia.
Southern Gospel is alive and well, and will REMAIN so until the Lord returns

Randy Crawford was one of the best Kingsmen lead singers to ever hit the stage after Hamill. His voice was strong and he made the Kingsmen sound work. I would be willing to bet if he decided to go back on the road, someone would grab him up in a hurry.

I have to disagree with your assumption Tater1955, I believe that Bryan Hutson was and if not the best lead singers after Hamill. He could harmonize with Jerry Martin and he made the group sound great with Jerry, Parker, and Reese.

I have a catalogue from Springside Marketing, which is a s.g. music place, and it had the picture of the Ready CD, with Randy Crawford in the picture with all the guys. I hear , when they released the CD, Randy was airbrushed out of the picture, but he was originally in the photograph on the cover of the CD.

I don't know if i understand how the business works, but just cause a singer leaves the group right about the time the CD comes out, the record company has that singer erased from the CD cover picture, it just doesn't seem right to me, after all the hard work the singer put into the project.
I don't know, maybe i'm wrong?

I can't remember how long after "I Will" was released before Bryan Hutson left the group, but at least he wasn't airbrushed out of the picture., well , maybe it was quite a while, i can't remember off hand.

David, that is because half the reason of doing new material so often is to have something to sell at the table with the current singers. They aren't thinking long-term when they do something like this. Finally, when a singer quits, especially suddenly, they could be thought of as having forfeited whatever they've put in to the group's success.

I agree with danielmount about the new material. When I buy a CD at a concert, I want the singers on the stage to also be on the CD. Many times I've been to concerts where the group didn't have a new recording with the current members and I didn't buy anything.

I love this thread. The Kingsmen Quartet is may all-time favorite group. Earlier posts wanted to know about KingsGold....as a general rule, if the Kingsmen and Gold City are booked on the same concert by themselves, then they will do KingsGold. Hammill travels and does it with them as much as he can. He is really, really funny.

Great news on the Live CD and DVD. When and where will it be done?

I secretly wish that Adam Borden would join the Kingsmen. He was so good with GC!!!!!!!!!

I will try and keep up with this thread. They are coming to Springfield, Mo at the end of February 2007

A while ago,on here, we were talking about Ernie Phillips. The other night i played the three Live Project that ERnie did while with the Kingsmen. Chattanooga Live, Live at the University of Alabama, and Live...Naturally. Man, that Ernie can blow my socks off, he is one good singer!

I heard the Kingsmen just after Ernie Phillips started. In fact Jim Hamill was still doing the "introduction of Ernie" as in Chattanooga Live. That tenor hit some unreal notes. I didn't know a man could sing that high.

I have the Live at the University of Alabama and I agree that he hit some high notes. Ernie did a great job on "Crossing Time" and Wayne Maynard did a great job on "Child Child".

Ernie is still singing some around the Asheville area. Trust me, he can still get the job done. You might think I am crazy but there is no one out there today that can hold a light to this man. I would be willing to say if he was to come out of retirement from the road, it would take less than a day to land a fulltime position with a major group. JMHO
