This made me giggle.....

Go look at L5's schedule, down in July, for the 10th, 11th and 12th, at what venue they will be at......http://legacyfive.com/concert_schedule.html

Never heard of such a country! lol!

Me either!

The concert schedule error that bothered the most was when the Collingsworths' schedule last year said they would be in Chatham, OH, an easy drive from me. Turns out they were going to be in Chatham, ON - Ontario, Canada!

Back to topic...

Daniel, EHSSQ had an error on their schedule briefly last year too that is similar to the one you mentioned. It said they were going to be in Hamilton, OH, which is easy driving distance from where I live. It was really Hamilton, ON. The error was only on there for a couple of weeks before it was corrected.

Interesting!

You must live in Northern Kentucky...perhaps we will cross paths at a Columbus-area concert one of these days.

I do live in northern KY but Columbus is a little far for me to go for a one night concert. After going to the one in Lima, OH a couple weeks ago, I have decided that Dayton will probably be my northern limit, unless it is a multi-day event.

Okay. And just a little south of Columbus (essentially suburbs, but still in that area) is my southern limit. Oh, well.

Tina, I asked Frank about the photo galleries at one of the concerts recently. He said he has several of them ready to go but they are having problems with the company host servers. In other words, they won't upload. They are going to switch internet hosting companies soon and when they do Frank said he would get the photos up for us.

That's good to know, Jeff, thanks! Frank is really good with this kind of stuff~~I know he's the one who did the L5 Family Album; and here I thought they were just dragging their feet! I'm glad! (Can't wait to see now pics of the Fowler boys! They are soooo cute! )

Hey, Tina. Are you going to be able to go to L5's big shindig up there in Michigan? The price looks real reasonable...especially compared to the Gaylord rates in Tennessee!

Time Marches On....

....No pun intended. Try as I might, I can not make March stay away any longer. I have tried hard to mentally push it back, but it is here, nonetheless. So many days in March will be marked with a huge dose of reality. March 6 is the last day I heard Roger's voice speak to me. March 7, he went into ICU. March 10 was his birthday. March 17 will be the anniversary of his Homegoing. March 21 and 24 were the dates of his memorial services (one in TN, one in AR). I can't believe, in some ways, that it has already been a year. In other ways, it feels like a lifetime. But, as sad as it makes me to be without him, I can't help but be joyful that he is where he is now, at peace, and healthy, and living with the One he sang, played and lived for!

There have been a few things happen lately that have made me feel like I am helpless without Roger: things around the house; mortgage "glitches"; having no sounding board or help with the "big" things. Yet, I know that God is faithful. He has never failed me, and I know He won't in the future. I suppose it's more the time of year than anything that has me feeling more vulnerable. And, yes, I know it's natural. I don't beat myself up over feeling this way anymore. I just take it in stride, then pull myself back up and move on.

I have, in recent days of Bible study, found several passages in the book of Psalms that have ministered to me in my weakness. The psalmist David really had a way with words! So, I thought I might share a few of these passages, in the hope that someone else may get an equal blessing.

Psalm 33:20-22 (KJV) Our soul waiteth for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His Holy name. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in Thee.

Psalm 34:17-19 (KJV) The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all of their troubles. The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.

Psalm 37:23-24 (KJV) The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand.

Psalm 42:5 (KJV) Why are thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted in me? Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.

Be blessed, enjoy God's fellowship, and remain

In His Grip!

Debbie

I feel that --- in a small way --- I have grieved with Debbie through her writings. She is such an encouragement, isn't she?

Roger's Legacy Lives On

How interesting life can be. On the days of the month when I knew Roger would consume my thoughts, I find that others are thinking of him, too. I knew they would, but I find it is happening in new and unexpected ways.

I received a phone call from the National Marrow Donor Program's volunteer coordinator this week. As I have mentioned before, I am going to be in Minneapolis next weekend for my training to become a courier for the program (and I am still very excited!). I was asked to write a letter of "introduction" - to try to let people know who Roger was. Wow! How do you sum up a life in a few words? Answer: it can't be done, but I gave it a good try. It seems that his message and music are going to be used to inspire the workers and coordinators there at the national center...a rally, of sorts, before the new volunteers come in for training. I am so honored to be able to share him and his gift of encouragement with a whole new group of people. His gift of love to us all just keeps going and going.

Pray for me as I go to MN next Thursday through Saturday, but pray also that God will be honored through Roger's testimony, and my efforts to make a difference in others' lives.

God is so faithful. I am having some "weepy" times these days, but He is always there to comfort me and keep me going. I am looking forward to new opportunities, as He keeps me firmly

In His Grip!

Debbie

A Birthday Remembered

Happy First Birthday in Heaven, Roger! I got a note from Danny Jones (editor, Singing News Magazine) this morning, and he told me he was out last night, and when the clock turned to midnight, his first thought was "Today was Roger's birthday. I wonder what kind of party God throws in Heaven!" I think we all can imagine that every day is a "party" there. No more growing older, with all that entails. There's something to long for!!

I am keeping very busy the next few days. Chelsea and I both have gotten roped into working Easter Bunny sets again this year, each at different malls. She is working hers full-time, I am just filling in a few days here and there. I have a photo on our mantel of our last Easter together, 2006, when I was working the set. (Don't ask, I have a great friend who can talk me into anything!) This photo is a family photo - we are all in it - but you wouldn't know I was there. Actually, it is one of my more photogenic shots....all smiles and BIG EARS and all!! Thankfully, this year, I am more visible on the set, with no fur involved. I also have a photo that Chelsea took that same year that is one of my favorites. It's a shot that, if someone said, "Take a picture that will capture Roger's personality", this would be it. He was sitting beside me on the chair (remember, I am "invisible"), and told Chelsea to count to 3 and then snap. She counted, "One, Two, Three" and on 'three', Roger leaned over and gave the Easter Bunny a full kiss on the mouth. It's priceless! (One day, I am going to figure out how to put more photos on this site, and it will be one of them.) Luckily, there was no one else in line at the time, but I can imagine what any onlookers or store merchants must have thought!

Just a good memory on this day. I am going to go by the cemetery on the way to work and put out new flowers that Chelsea and I picked out. We thought he would like tulips and daffodills, as Spring is hopefully on its way after the snow over the weekend.

Wherever you are today, be blessed, and happy

In His Grip!

Debbie

I wonder how many titles and words from songs of the Cathedrals and Legacy Five are contained in that single poem?

Anniversary Day

Well, today was the day I had been dreading for a while. I don't really know why it should have been different from most days, but I guess it just brought everything into more of a sharp focus. One year without my Roger. I miss him terribly.

Anyway, I was so busy today with one "challenge" after another around here, that I hardly sat down, which, I suppose, was a good thing. It didn't keep the memories and thoughts at bay, but it did keep me from dwelling too long on them.

I want to write a post that does justice to a wonderful person, but today is not the day for that. I am a little too heart-sore. So, I will save that for another day, when I feel more like it. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week, but it will come.

I just wanted to thank you all for the cards, flowers, and mostly the prayers. They have surely been felt. What I thought would be a totally disabling day has been tolerated fairly well, and a peace that I didn't think possible was with me today. Again, thank you for your faithfulness. I am so glad I am a member of a family who knows the value of being

In His Grip.

Debbie

A Life Well Lived

I have one voice mail on my cell phone that I have saved since December, 2006. It is from Roger. While the entire message consists of only 13 syllables, I treasure it as if it were an entire speech. There are a myriad of reasons why it is so special, apart from the fact that it is from Roger. I will try to explain, and in doing so, show how significant it is to Roger's own life.

Roger had very few good days during his last transplant, either before or after. So, on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, when he felt like getting out and riding around in the sunshine, I was happy to oblige. We were passing by a church that had a sign out front with a scripture and reference, and I really liked it, so I asked Roger to call my cell phone and leave me a message, telling me the reference, so I could study it more later. So, here is my message:

"Debbie, remember Micah 6:8.......Micah 6:8."

This is what that verse says:

He hath shown thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? (KJV)

Wow, talk about a verse to live by. What does the Lord require of us (me)? A real thought-provoker. Recently, one of our Adult Bible Study classes at church has centered around this very verse. Chuck Swindoll wrote a book entitled A Life Well Lived about this verse. (It's a great book, with lots of insight as to how Micah, a prophet in the Old Testament, dealt with the problems of his day, which were much the same as the problems of our day.) We are commanded to show fairness, compassion, and humility toward others.

When I think of our last stay in Houston, in particular, I remember the huge impact Roger made on so many lives. He was a man with a mission, and I saw him live it every day. No matter how he felt, which was never very good, he was a beacon of light to others. He was a bearer of good news, a source of inspiration, a calmer of fears. Behind the scenes, he was always thinking of others, and there were many acts of compassion that were carried out anonymously. And always, he was humble. Roger faced the great adversity in his life with dignity and grace. I think that's what the people in Houston will remember most about him, for they knew him as Roger the patient, who was battling cancer, who was living with hope, and who was sharing that hope with others. Many of you knew him in his capacity as a musician, writer, emcee, and also as a source of inspiration. You see, whatever role he was playing at the time, I can say he did it with the zeal of one who knew what he was doing, and what he was living for. Whether his platform was a stage in front of thousands, a living room sofa talking to his kids, or a hospital room, talking to one other individual, he had the same goal....sharing the love of God. He lived Micah 6:8 well.

Although God is our ultimate example, I am thankful for the earthly example I had in Roger. My days may not be filled with physical pain and suffering, but I have some rough emotional waters to cross. Sometimes they can be overwhelming, and I think that I just can't cope. But then, I remember that God is there. He hasn't left me. He wants to help me. And I can think of the way that Roger plowed on through in his difficult times, and it makes it easier to get through the stormy seas.

I want to be remembered someday as one who had a life well-lived. I can think of no better way to enter the gates of Heaven than to hear the Savior say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

I will follow this post later with details of my upcoming new journeys, but I just wanted to take the time right now to share a little of my heart with you. As we walk through the days we have here on earth, let's strive to make ours a life well-lived, following God's commands, and knowing that He will keep us forever

In His Grip!

Debbie

Well, I hate to report failure in my assignment but I was unable to do something at the L5/GV concert last night that Tina and I cooked up.

The plan was for me to get a picture of Scott Fowler and put "Fowler for President" on it, print out a bunch of them and place them on the L5 product table. Since GV was also going to be there, it was decided to put a picture of Gerald Wolfe on there as well with the words "Fowler/Wolfe '08".

Unfortunately, with my new job and everything else going on, I just didn't have the time to do it. I did, however, get to tell Scott and Frank what I wanted to do. They both liked it!

Dern! Well, it was a good idea, anyway. Think they'll give me guff about it when I go to the L5/BB concert on the 25th?
