Had a great time at the Mission of Mercy concert last night in Rock Hill, SC. The Freemans were awesome. Look for their new song, 'He Chose Me', to be a major hit in the new year. The Greenes did an outstanding job. Taranda stole the show with her performances of 'My Redeemer Lives' and 'I'd Rather Have Jesus'. And what can you say about the Hoppers. They hit another home run with their performances of 'I've Come Too Far', 'Jerusalem' and a new song 'Grace Will Always Be Greater Than Sin'.

The last one I went to was in Tyler, Texas in August. It was Legacy Five and they were, of course, flippin awesome! Not too many SGsings though in NW Ohio! [:(] So we see someone big then go through about a year of withdraw!

MissGizmo -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (11/26/2006 8:49:10 AM)

I went to the Hopper's Homecomming last night in Eden, NC. It was as usual top rate and one I try not to miss. A good time was had by all in attendance as usual. [;)][;)][;)][;)][;)][;)][;)][;)][;)][;)]

I went to "Alabama's Largest Thanksgiving Sing" in Cullman, Alabama. It was a two-night event, but I only went on Friday night. The artists there included Mercy's Mark (YEAH!!), Brian Free and Assurance, Trevor Thomas, and, last but certainly not least, New Ground. We had a great time with some really great singing. Of course, I so enjoyed Mercy's Mark. Among others, they did several songs from the new album (When It All Starts Happening, All I Need to Know, Something's Happening) and they ended with Midnight Cry. Ya just can't beat that!! Brian Free & Assurance were also great but their music was just a tad loud. They do a really good job of featuring each of their singers and it was so much fun watching the "old people" enjoying Long As I Got King Jesus! (I was hoping that MMQ and BF&A would get together on at least one song just to get to see Brian and Garry together, but they didn't.) New Ground was very, very good that night and our own forum member, Robbie Maxwell, is part of that group. I've only seen them twice, but they are a great trio. I got some good pictures, and I've posted one of Robbie as my avatar ---- I warned you, Robbie!!!

RobbieMaxwell -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (11/27/2006 1:53:44 PM)

Dinana it was so good to see you in Cullman and thanks so much for the kind words that you had to say about the concert and our group - I'm so honored - but that picture of me - OH NO!!! You got me - but all I can say - you did warn me. Hope to see you again really soon at a sing.

JimC -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (11/27/2006 6:24:36 PM)

Last Saturday night I attended the Tony Peace after Thanksgiving concert in Austell, GA
The lineup was The Kingsmen, The Old Paths and Hope's Journey.
I've seen the Kingsmen and Old Paths numerous times, and they were both terrific....
as always.

Hope's Journey is a group from Heflin, Alabama.....two women and two men.....including a 16 year old bass singer that you have to hear to believe.
This young man is going places.......keep your eye on Trent.

On Saturday, December 1st I was able to see a concert by Squire Parsons. It was at a small local church with a small crowd but he did a great job of the concert. You would never have known that the crowd was small by the way he sang and played at this concert. [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]

Oh, My Goodness!!! I just got home from a concert with the Diplomats and Mark Trammell Trio. The Diplomats are from just outside Atlanta but I had never seen them in person. They were awesome. They may become my favorite mixed quartet!!! Then as the Mark Trammell Trio was going to take the stage, the host minister of music announced about Eric's surgery and told us who the substitute would be ---- would you believe it was Eric's father, Ernie Phillips?!?!?!?!? He was terrific and he and Mark and Dustin sang as if they had been singing together for a long time. (He did have to use a song sheet for the words on two songs.) They even did one song that Ernie used to sing with the Kingsmen - I think the name of it was Walking With Jesus. It was great and then they followed that with Compared to God that also featured Ernie. On another song, A Little Closer Home, Ernie hit a really high note --- I'm guessing it was a high E or F but I'll have to get my MTT CDs out and go to the piano to figure it out later! Dustin was really, really good on What a Lovely Name, and his father was there at the concert, too. Speaking of relatives, would you believe that Nick Trammell was there?!?!?! He sang with the group on Stand and Praise the Lord. Mark was in very good voice tonight and after intermission, when both groups were on stage to do some Christmas songs, Mark sang "Oh, Holy Night." I had goose pimples on my goose pimples!!

There was a pretty good crowd there, too, considering it's Thursday and we have some very strong winds and the temperature is falling like a rock! (It's supposed to go down to 17 or 18 degrees tonight -- really cold for Atlanta!)

Just had to tell someone about this - and my cat and GVfan's cats just don't care about it at all!!

MissGizmo -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (12/8/2006 1:42:39 AM)

That sounds like a good time was had by all. I wish I could have been there.

Ernie Phillips! Wow! I just love his voice from his Kingsmen years. Diana, back in the day, he would go to the B-flat above the E or F you heard!

I really wish I was there.[:(]

Hi SG lovers!
My husband, son, daughter in-law, five year old grandaughter and I saw the fabulous DOVE BROTHERS Quartet last night in a church concert, Shallotte, N.C. They were in soooooooo good! Jerry Martin (my favorite tenor) was in top form on, I can Pray and anything else he sang. McCray was his usual great self, David hitting the lows and Eric a great baritone as well. Jerry Kelso was wonderful on the keyboard and seems to have stepped it up a little with his involvement. My son requested Get Away Jordan and Didn't It Rain, both were outstanding! On a scale of 1-10 they were 10!!!!!! I can't wait to see them in February at their homecoming in the Bladenboro high school they attended.

Just wanted to update this thread. . . .

I got to see Triumphant yesterday and they were great. Jeff came out in the second part of the program wearing a set of angel wings and Scotty also had on a costume from the Miracle show!! They were such a hoot!!

Within the span of one week, I will have seen all of the following: Triumphant (my #2 favorite) yesterday, Gold City, Mark Trammell Trio, Diplomats, Young Harmony, and Dixie Echoes tonight, Mercy's Mark (my #1 favorite) TWICE (I hope - Thursday and Saturday), and Legacy Five and Greater Vision on Friday. Can anyone beat that?????

Nope. I'm fortunate if I see one group once every six months.[:(]

Beyond doubt, I would go to more concerts if they came more often to Northern Ohio.

I attended a pre-New Years Eve concert last night. The Down East Boys, The Talley Trio and Greater Vision. The Dixie Melody Boys stopped in as a surprise and sang a few songs too. What a great way to end the year (or start the new year)[sm=dance.gif][sm=thumbsup.gif]

With that many groups on the billing, how long did each sing?

davidpb -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (1/1/2007 7:00:39 PM)

The Dixie Melody Boys sang about 5 songs. They were singing at another venue and came over to sing as a surprise for us.

Each group sang 45-50 minutes for their first set and then about twenty minutes the second time, ifollowed by a few minute sermon by Paul Heil and then a prayer led by Rodney Griffin. They started at 7:30 PM (or so) and ended at 12:00 AM. It was a great evening.

Saturday Night, I had the priviledge to see Perry's and The Browns in concert at Lake City Church of God.

It was a great night!

MsJudy -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (1/2/2007 1:47:09 AM)

My husband and I just came home from the big singing in Charleston, WV with Tony Gore. It was AWESOME! There were 24 souls saved on Saturday night and I think 7 on Sunday night. It was great to see the Greenes, the Kingsmen, the Jody Brown Indian Family and Michael Combs, and the Freemans Friday night! And of course Tony Gore & Majesty Sunday night with Greg Cook back with them!!! I feel like I'm leaving out someone, so forgive me if you read this and were one of the artists. It's been a long week-end! LOL.

Seaton -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (1/2/2007 8:04:01 AM)

I got to start my new year off last night with a great concert/preaching at the winter jubilee in Yadkinville, NC. The Jody Brown Indian Family were great as usual!
