Thanks, christiancapitalist! I love watching Quintin Rampage Jackson fight! Is "Crocop" really coming into the UFC? He looked sharp in the Pride FC, this should be interesting....

Anyone watch Diego knock out Joe Riggs in the first round?

christiancapitalist -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (12/16/2006 2:56:02 PM)

it was a great knockout. the real question is, who will diego fight next? my vote would either be against bj penn, a rematch with josh koscheck, or possibly john fitch.

kingdom1111 -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (12/18/2006 1:48:42 AM)

Great TKO! Diego also showed a strong chin because he got hit pretty hard as well.
I think he should get a title fight next, but we will see.

I enjoy watching MMA (Pride FC and K-1 are not on American TV as much as UFC); did you see George St Pierre TKO Matt Hughes for the belt?

Whoa, that's a bit of a shocker for me, Hughes was just relishing his revenge victory of BJ Penn, so much for that.

I'm sure a rematch between Hughes and Pierre is already in the works.

Hey fight fans[:D][:D][:D]

I love it!
I missed the last 2 big fights but the up and coming cards look great. I can't wait for the Tito-Chuck fight.
I hope Tito can pull it out but I don't think so. I think Chuck's power will be to much for Tito.

Yes, that's going to be a good one. I think if Tito doesn't take Liddel's bait (stand up fight) but instead takes the match to the ground he has a very good chance of winning the fight. Liddel's hands are very dangerous, especially his thumbs, he has an uncanny way of getting them into his opponent's eyes.

With my heart I'd like to see Tito win this one but my mind tells me it's probably Liddel again.

APreciousOne -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (12/18/2006 7:13:07 PM)

UFC Fight Night last week provided yet another shocker...

I was expecting a war-- who knew that Diego was going to knock out Joe Riggs so quickly??!!! The knee that Diego hit Joe Riggs with while he was trying to stand up was awesome.

That's why I love UFC/MMA... it's way exciting and unpredictable!

12 Days left until UFC 66. It's gonna be HUGE!! They have an awesome website for the event. I think it's http://66ufc.com

Did anyone catch the MTV Interview with Chuck and Tito?

You are prob. right about the rematch and I sure would like to see it!

To me Hughes just didn't seem as fast or strong against GSP or BJ . In the BJ fight it seemed BJ ran out of steem rather than Hughes taking over the fight. If Bj had trained properly(conditioning wise) I think he would of beaten Hughes badly.

I hope he can bounce back but we shall see.

Missed it. Was it good?? Did they interview together??

APreciousOne -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (12/19/2006 3:54:26 PM)

No... they did separate interviews. It was nothing major-- just short pieces about how hard they train and what part music plays in their training. I think they're still showing them on MTV Overdrive. They're pretty short.

They have a pretty awesome site developed for UFC66. I believe the web address is http://66ufc.com. They have interviews, fighter analyses, etc. included as part of the site. Tito has been doing a bunch of interviews (i.e. on ESPN 2). You can catch some of them on YouTube.

I agree... BJ Penn seemed way out of shape when he fought Matt Hughes. They re-aired the fight between BJ Penn and GSP on UFC Unleashed last night, and BJ seemed to have been in much better condition for that fight. I would like to see more of BJ Penn... after some conditioning, that is. I liked GSP before that fight, but I was impressed with how he hung in there with BJ Penn even after having his nose broken. Maybe they'll have a Hughes vs. Penn rematch before the a Hughes vs. GSP rematch.

Who should be in line next for a title shot against GSP? (Besides Matt Sera who gets a shot because of his win on TUF4)

please. bj penn is overrated. who has he beaten recently? check out his record. he may be a grat grappler, but he has not proven to be a great mma fighter. it doesn't matter who is WINNING a fight. it only matters who WINS.

Luke_Faithwalker -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (12/20/2006 3:34:53 PM)

I saw the GSP vs Hughes fight last night, I've never seen Hughes look so overmatched. He never seemed a threat to GSP. GSP was patient, administered some really nice strikes and showed very good defense vs the takedown.

If that was Hughes at his best GSP definately has his number.

Keep it in North America GSP.

APreciousOne -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (12/26/2006 10:59:20 AM)

On an episode of "Inside the UFC" that aired on Spike TV last Thursday, they talked about the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter 5. They're going to have lightweight fighters on this one and guess who the 2 coaches will be-- "Little Evil" Jens Pulver and BJ Penn.

BJ Penn is dropping down to Lightweight and will fight Little Evil after the show. Both of them did interviews and of course talked trash about each other. BJ Penn looked, well, really out of shape... like he hasn't seen the inside of a gym since his fight with Matt Hughes. His interview was pretty weird (Joe Rogan called him "strange" at the end of it). He talked about how he would fight and win titles in all of the weight classes, ending with Tim Sylvia. I'd love to see that one.

Only 4 more days until UFC 66!!!! I'd love to throw a big fight party for it, but none of my girly friends watch UFC.

Hiker02 -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (1/1/2007 1:27:28 PM)

Well it's over. Ortiz put up a great fight. He has really improved on his striking and caught Liddell with a few good shots. I'm not sure I would have called it as quickly as the ref did, but I don't think the outcome would have been any different. Chuck was just to much for him.

TurningLeaf00 -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (1/3/2007 9:06:20 PM)

Tito's Ego has met it's waterloo.

In a sad irony it was kind of sobering to see Tito humble himself after the Match, as he fought a stream of tears from raining down, "oh my God i am not invincable!" there is such a one greater than i, such a thought brought him some humility, well maybe at least for a while he became more human, personable, honorable, we dont know if Tito will learn from his real mistake...the folly of pride.

My friends i watch the UfC hoping that one day, a fighter will emerge, say a mighty giant killer, who is the epitone of these qualities, noble both in spirit and blood, operating from a timeless realm of intuition, moving grace in both form and function, who possess an extra-ordinary knowledge of jiu-jit-su, and refuses' to strike his opponants to defeat them, ah maybe i watch to much tv, lol!!!!

if he is out there he wont do it for the money, maybe to save an orphanage or something who's contract is about to foreclose... lol!!

Agape,

I too am a big UFC fan! I'm a boxing fan as well! And I box, also!

chemdude77 -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (1/21/2007 10:07:05 PM)

Keith Jardine knocked out Forrest Griffin, leaving him in tears. Michael Bisping won by TKO, Arlovski won, and...

Randy Couture is coming out of retirement to fight Tim Sylvia!!

To me, the UFC is one of the most evil sports in modern history, similar to the Roman barbarianism.

chemdude77 -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (1/21/2007 10:37:22 PM)

Quinton Jackson and Cro Cop are coming into the UFC, so the heavyweight class gets an extra boost!

really? how many deaths have there been in the sport? none. how many people have been paralyzed? none. the most serious injury in the ufc has been a broken arm or a knocked out tooth. statistally, it is the safetest contact sport. period. if you think it is barabaric, please back up the statement with facts, not opion.

I'm sorry but any time guys pummel each other to bloody pulps causing physical damage, that's barbaric. They may not be using swords and spears, but it's a brutal sport.

Do you feel the same about football? I may be wrong but I haven't seen any posts from you condemning football in the NFL thread.

Football? Come on, let's be honest. Football and the UFC are no comparison. In football, yes, people get hurt from time to time, BUT they don't go out purposely fighting each other until they become bloody pulps. The accidents that occur in football are not the result of direct malignant behavior, whereas accidents or bodily damage in the UFC is caused by direct hand/leg blows.

chemdude77 -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (1/25/2007 10:20:07 PM)

Rashad Evans, Hermes Franca, Dean Lister, Spencer Fisher and Ed Hermann are scheduled to fight tonight (1/25). Should be a great card...

So a 200 lb. running back is going up the middle and a 300 lb. defensive tackle see's an opportunity to tackle him. What do you think is going through the defensive tackle's mind? Do you think he is going to hold back and only hit him hard enough to knock him down?[8D] I have watched enough football to know that isn't true.

doinkdom -> RE: Any UFC Fans??? (1/26/2007 10:01:48 AM)

I watched CNBC report last night on the UFC - it was really good.

They based everyone on an interview with Dana White (hope that's his name) and the guy from SPIKE TV. They gave a history lesson about where it all started and how it has been regulated and so forth today.

It was on about the same time as the UFC was on last night, so I don't know how many fans actually saw it.

edited to add: The UFC at it's start was no holes barred bar-room brawling...not so today. It is mixed martial arts and these guys are great.
