My name is Becky. I'm a single mom homeschooling my 3 dc. We'll be starting our 10th year this year. [sm=eek.gif] I have a 16yo ds, a 14yo dd, and an almost 12 (9/1) ds. Each year is an adventure! I really wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. God bless.

Hello-
I'm Suzanne Barrett, the hs mom of 4 kiddos. We live in WA and have homeschooled from the start. My oldest daughter is 12, then come our 10 yr old twin girls, next is Andy, our almost 2 yr. old. We love the outdoors, the indoors (have to with all the rain we get here!), drama, art, crafts, reading, and swimming. The girls just started playing basketball with Daddy and want to become professional "basketballers", last week they wanted to be spies, so I'm not too concerned about careers in sports. We are thankful for this wonderful homeschool journey and thank the Lord for these precious little people in training.

Hi. I'm Debbie. I homeschooled my two boys grades 2-12. I have also worked as the Academic Advisor of a small Christian School for 3 years and started a small Church school where I was the Administrator for 2 years. For the last 2 years I have homeschooled my daughter Caland (age 7). Unfortunately this year will be different, maybe difficult. My husband died last month. It's difficult to get back on track. If all goes well we should begin this school year in September--having to have taken off school for the last 4 months due to my husband's illness & death.

I use the School of Tomorrow curriculum having found it successful in schooling my two boys--one which received his BS from SAGU at the age of 20 and the other who became a Sargent in the US Army by the age of 22. I use this program for all basics and add subjects as fine arts (drawing, speech, crafts, creative writing, poetry) and bible quiz.

We're glad to meet everyone.

Hello! I am Nicole, homeschooling mommy to my 2 kids and wife of 9 years to my dh Cory. This is our second "official" year of homesschooling, but really it's been since birth. Joshua my eldest is in grade 1 and Kylie is 4.5 and will be doing preschool this year. We are in our 4th week of the school year this year and things are going well. I love being at home, teaching my kids. In addition to regular activities at home, Kylie will be taking a combo ballet/tap dance class and Joshua will be finishing up his last month of Soccer in September and then taking a weekly hockey for fun class at the rink. Both kids will be taking a MYC class. I hope to do alot more field trips this year as well!! Looking forward to getting to know some other homeschooling moms and dads!!

Hi I am new here. I am leslie and I have 2 children15 and 2. I let my son go to ps but as soon as we move we are going back to HSing. He is not doing well grade wise but we are out here in the middle of nowhere and he loves football. When we move he can be apart of the HS football team since it is too a city we are moving. I hope it is very soon we can sell our home and move.

tinedanzer -> RE: Crosswalk Homeschool Support Group Roll Call (9/22/2007 7:08:41 PM)

Hello,

I am Shannon and we are just beginning this home schooling adventure! My oldest is 5 and my youngest just turned 3. My husband and I drive school buses (He drives the short bus![;)]) and we deal with the school children everyday. We also have had to deal with a few fellow bus drivers who think we are doing our kids a disservice (the whole "socialization" thing). But our kids are flourishing under our (sometimes wobbly) guidance and they enjoy more friendships than I can keep up with!

So far kindergarten has been easy enough for me to teach, but it's only the second week as of yet! My kids come on the bus with me and we go through two school routes pretty quickly, then there is a two hour lull in which we do our school and then we do one shuttle for the tech school, and off for lunch. To quote Mc Donald's, "I'm LOVIN' it!" [:D]

HSmom2 -> RE: Crosswalk Homeschool Support Group Roll Call (9/29/2007 1:07:27 PM)

Hi,

I'm Deborah. We've homeschooled from the beginning. We have two teens, a 17 yr old boy and a 15 yr old girl. My husband and I have been married 20 years this month.

We've used some textbooks, some workbooks, lots of reading, unit studies and whatever works. My son is a senior this year and it feels like time is running out. I keep thinking, how can we send him to a secular college and why would we want to? I asked him what we could do to get him ready for the world, he said "nothing, I think I'm ready". Then I said, "ok, what can we do to get Me ready?!!"

Today my husband and both children were saying they think we should stay involved with homeschooling even after they graduate to encourage others and help keep it going.

There have been times when I felt like I wasn't doing a good job. I told this to another hs mom and she said she thought every mom thought that at one time or another. I asked her if she thought the ps moms felt that way too and she said yes, because the ones she knows feel guilty about working, but wish they could stay home with their children.

Blessings,
Deborah aka Antaries7 (AK)

I just signed up and am wondering what I do to get the HSLDA membership discount? I'm not even sure if I'm posting this in the right place for this question?

Oh yeah, I homeschool two boys, 8th and 4th grade. :)

Thanks,

Hi, my name is Melissa. We will begin homeschooling our two children, ages 12 and 10 (7th grade and 5th grade) after the Christmas break (if not sooner!). We are taking them out of public school. I have homeschooled them in the past - our daughter (the oldest) for kindergarten, and both of them for the second half of the year when daughter was in 2nd grade and son was in kindergarten. Can't wait to get started! My daughter begs to stay home from school every day... so it might be sooner![;)]

How do I sign up for the Homeschool Update Newsletter mentioned in the group registration instructions?
Thanks!

Hello and greetings! I hope you enjoyed your holidays!
I have a 4yr. old (will be 4- this December) son that I have been home with since October.
I was a full-time working mother and wife.
God has led us to a different path and now I am home with him.
I am working with him on curriculum activities and am praying to God for direction in terms of next steps regarding homeschooling.

I look forward to talking with you and I thank you for having this forum. I pray that we are all encouraged by this forum. Thanks again for this opportunity!

Take care![;)]
