72 hours is a milestone because that's the longest nicotine can stay in your body. You're almost there!!!

Just remember that you never ever want to have to go through the first few days again. That was my dad's ultimate reason for never smoking again.

You're doing great, Jordan. This is your first smoke-free weekend, I guess. Some people have a hard time with that, so be sure you stay busy. Go for a bike ride or walk or something.

Hey all, it's the morning time now. I've noticed a lot of changes in the way I feel since I quit 3+ days ago. I'm able to breathe a whole lot better, food tastes better, etc.

that is great!!!!

servant....that isn't a friend if they are that mean to you about something as simple as smoking. Smoking isn't going to send you to hell...if you are saved then you are saved. I have known people that said it hindered their spiritual walk, but that's because God was trying to get them to quit. When it's time God will give you the strength to do it. If it is hindering your walk with God then that's a great reason to quit in and of itself...plus the multiple health reasons for it. However, it is not up to us as Christians to judge someone for their "faults"...that's not how friends should be treating you. They should be lifting you up in prayer and encouraging you to quit the right way and with an uplifted spirit, not putting you down for smoking. However, if you need that encouragement you are very welcome to come here...I am glad you did. I will add you to my daily prayer list of people that are quitting or wanting to quit right now.

I know that is mainly the reason I quit was because I felt it was hindering my walk with Christ.

it's ok for you to assess that it is hindering your own relationship with God...but for others to tell you that it is, is IMO very rude...unless they have a specific calling from God to tell you that. Then it needs to be done in love and as encouragement, not in beating you down because of your bad habits. Everyone has bad habits, and smoking is one of them. I wouldn't go up to a friend and berate her for not liking to clean her floor as often as maybe it should be done...it's up to her to decide if her cleaning is up to the standard she is happy with and that God would have her uphold...not me. If it's not then that's on her...and yes, even things like that can be a hindrance to your walk with God if you allow it to be. I guess basically what I am saying is that anything (even things that aren't exactly bad for you) can become something that hinders your spiritual walk with God...and it is up to friends to encourage us to step out of those areas, not to berate us into doing so.

When I used to do something my mother didn't like, she would tell me she thought it was hindering my walk with God. That used to make me crazy. Something that is hindering your walk is usually between you and God, not between you and everyone else, and certainly not up your friends.

Servant--we offer full support and encouragement as you quit.

JORDAN--GOOD JOB!!! HOW ARE YOU DOING?

Whoa. Calm down, I didn't say it was hindering other people's walks with Christ, I was talking about MINE.

oh yeah...I know...I was talking more about the other poster who said their "friends" were saying that about them. It's totally different when you know it is hindering your own walk.
