I think... that Aggie jokes are funnier than they used to be. And as I am a Texas Tech fan, they have always been funny.

My mom had a shirt that said:

What do you say to an Aggie grad?
Super-size that order.

In the cafeteria on the first day of spring semester at Texas Tech University, I saw three students hard at work on their calculators. Stunned that they had received such an obviously tough problem so early in the semester, I asked them what their assignment was. One guy looked at me and replied, "We're figuring out how many days until spring break."

Then there's this one that I just laughed my head off at -

A Baylor student was visiting a Yankee relative in Boston over the holidays. He went to a large party and met
a pretty co-ed. He was attempting to start up a conversation with the tired line "Where do y'all go to school?"
The co-ed, of course, was not overly impressed with his grammar or southern drawl but did answer his question.
"Yale," she replied.
The Baylor student took a big deep breath and shouted,
"WHERE DO Y'ALL GO TO SCHOOL!?"

The Bear family was in court getting a divorce. The judge looked at Baby Bear and asked, "Do you want to live with Mama Bear?"
"No." the young one replied. "She beats me."
"Well then. How about Papa Bear?"
"Uh uh. He beats me, too."
The judge was baffled. "Well, who do you want to live with, then?"
Baby Bear replied serenely, "The Baylor Bears-- they don't beat anybody!"

Born in Seattle, stuck in CA before moving to the Metroplex 5 years ago.
Loving it, wouldn't move back to the West Coast.

Actually never really liked football (remember I wasn't raised in Texas

I do follow our high school football due to our pastor and our head football coach, a great Christian man.

We lived in the bay area for 20 years before God finally got it through my head to move!
Thanks for the welcome!!

In high school, I was in marching band. First year of college, too. For five years, I attended every football game for my schools, plus a few extra here and there with friends.

I still don't know how to play the game. LOL. I just can't get interested in it.

The only place I have ever been to there was the airport....it's a great airport compared to others around the world...so HUGE and so CONFUSING...esp the first time you go there when no one knows how to talk in normal English to someone who has NEVER flown before, much less someone with an hour to find an overseas flight in another building with two kids and pregnant. Oh yeah...it was a very tearful day. Other then that though it was such a wonderful airport.

I feel your pain...
I lost my car once...way back when they would let you go into meet people you were picking up...or waiting for their flight to leave...anyway...I looked everywhere it was suppose to be parked, until I had to finally approach a airport worker, in almost a near breakdown...after he and several others helped me look, it was finally found on a upper level... How dumb I felt...and then when I started to leave I went in circles for about 3 times before I found the down path...I had a really bad day

So you flew out of DFW...where were you passing through from? I mean I suppose you are from Texas because of this forum...where deep in the heart of Texas are you from???
I am about an hour and half East of Dallas. but have two daughters that live In Frisco, and Rockwall.
I really have a lot of respect for Dallas, it is a very clean city and most are nice people...I do hear you about the foreign speakers...it is getting to be a small world isn't it.
Try Newark, if you think DFW is bad...gee, it is like another world up there...( thats near New Jersey)
My mother had to take 4 kids to Puerto Rico, on her first flight, to meet my Father who was in the Air Force...we lived there 3 years. I often wonder how she did that, and kept her cool. That was a long time ago, and things were a little different...but still a trick...

The fall and spring are breathtaking ... and the winter is brutal, ha ha. It is really pretty outside right now with all the snow that fell this morning ... BUT ... my moving truck gets here tomorrow and I'm afraid all this snow on the ground may complicate things!

Remember the Alamo!

Travis' Letter from the Alamo, 1836
quote:

The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken — I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, & our flag still waves proudly from the walls — I shall never surrender or retreat.

How much snow did y'all get?

We got about 4 inches here in Denton. Last night, it took me THREE HOURS to get from 35/635 to Denton

It was AHLSOME.

At times, it was REAL SNOW, too, not just flurries. Big, puffy, wet clumpy flakes falling mesmerizingly fast from the sky.

Ah Yes, we finally got a beautiful 'dusting' here in NETEX...so I can at least feel like we had a little winter weather! Of course it was gone by midmorning. nothing like my N Dallas...my daughter in Frisco called with the blizzard report...It had been a long time since she saw that...
Having Springfield Mo, as hometown...and living in Nebr. for a while...I know about all that snow business!
I always love it, but don't want to have to get out in it to work or drive any distances at all...and oh yeah...lived in Montana to...now that was some winter weather to talk about...
