Well said Leslie!

I think what feeds the low approval rating of President Bush is the media who has hated him from day one.

You'd think we'd love him after getting rid of all of those WMD's in Iraq. Oh wait there were none.

You'd think we'd adore him after major operations in Iraq ceased 5 years ago. Oh wait the mission that was accomplished was a 10 month boat tour.

I really love how he has stood up against illegal immigration. Oh wait- he says I'm lazy and that this guy Link here is a good hard working law abiding man.

Got to go to work now. : )

Well said Leslie!

Hear, hear! You completely avoided the fact that Bush condoned torture and lied about it.
Good job!

RLJ, interesting. Pro-Bush people are often at the same time self-proclaimed critics of liberals. So I'd think they are conservatives and that they see Bush as a conservative.

But Bush is no enemy of illegal immigration (and neither is John McCain).

The inconsistency shown by the views of some who claim to support Bush, to oppose illegal immigration, to be conservatives... it always befuddles me.

Yup. I watch Countdown as a matter of principal every chance I get. The special comment was really good and it was something that needed to be said.

That video was funny. LOL. KO is sometimes a little over the top for me, but I like him.

Bush just need to quit! He sacrificed golf? supposedly?

LOL! LOL!

Hello? Spock this is Kirk, where have all the Bushies gone?

landabee -> RE: All of these Libruls! (5/20/2008 9:57:00 AM)

You are too funny, girl.

Not to worry.... they are simply re-grouping, re-spinning and planning. Oh for sure.

Bush supporters have to really work hard at ignoring some issues to continue to support him.

tafkam -> RE: All of these Libruls! (5/20/2008 10:45:44 AM)

Actually, that's not the case at all. However, the seething, almost rabid hatred for the man that comes from those on the left makes any rational discussion well nigh impossible.

Suffice it to say that Bush has done the best anyone could have done post-9/11. Mistakes? To be sure, but he has done what he felt was necessary to defend this nation despite what polls and focus groups had to say. That's what a leader does.

I'll have to respectfully disagree here. He hasn't done the best he could do and that's precisely the problem. Wanting to protect the telecoms from being sued by American citizens who were unjustly spied on doesn't constitute doing the best you can. Neither does allowing torture and then lying about it to the American people. These are more than just "mistakes" they are violations of our own laws not to mention violations of the Geneva conventions and they shouldn't have been allowed to happen.

We have two border patrol officers in jail on the word of a drug smuggler, a soldier who'll be turned over to the Iraqi government because he used a Koran for target practice (btw I believe that's a death penalty crime there) and who knows what else. These are not just "mistakes". They are travesties and they should not be countenanced.

Please do not assume that all that dislike the man are leftist liberals.

Thanks.

ETA:

For certain, he is abhorred, resented and belittled by a lot of liberals. He is also held in the same low esteem by many that do not fit that demographic.

Loyalty to a political party does not demand one to excuse or even support errors made in leadership.

Bush has made many aggregious errors, and significantly fewer good decisions.

Both Democrat and Republican, conservative and liberal can objectively evaluate his performance and form an opinion that may or may not line up with the party line. That is why I am careful to say "Bush supporters" not "Republicans or Conservatives".

I'm just sayin'........

HighPlainsDrifter -> RE: All of these Libruls! (5/21/2008 3:39:02 PM)

I'm hard-right GOP and I believe Bush has made a ham scramble of his Presidency, and has probably done more to hurt the conservative cause than any current public figure. History might vindicate his Iraq decision, but history cannot touch his utter failure in communicating a well-formed reasoning for the action, a spirited defense of his actions, and public-spending gone humiliatingly amok. He's probably sentenced the GOP to the "back seat" for a generation thanks to his meandering, incomprehensible term in office.

HPD...... this quote should definitely make it into Room and Board.

Bravo!

vixir -> RE: All Bush - The Critque - One Stop Thread (5/22/2008 6:27:39 PM)

I just think Bush is an idiot. He seems to be making all of the wrong choices and without a care in the world, the closer he is to leaving the office. I'll bet he's thinking "Well, I'm only in office for a few more months... I might as well flush the economy down the toilet." I just hope the next president cleans up the mess that Bush leaves behind.

JordanB -> RE: All Bush - The Critque - One Stop Thread (5/22/2008 8:52:14 PM)

He had already met with Cindy. Cindy praised him. Then Cindy decided she was entitled to a second meeting. Cindy broke-up the family due to single-mindness of putting her protest before her son and husband. Who BTW did not support this.

Bush, hmmmm...so many people dislike him, that regardless of looking at anything else,I have to think that he is doing something right to make everyone so mad...
but seriously, I voted for the man twice and briefly meet him back in 04 at a fundraiser, and no I don't think he has always made the right decsion, but many of the ones that I feel are the most important ( I.e terror and the war and Iraq) he has made the right call on

Now before you rabid ant-bushies out there start foaming at the mouth, my point is not here to defend him per see, but to just simply point out the fact that the man is human, subject to all of the frailtes that we have and given the most stressful job one could ever imagine, where life and death hang on your decsions. Iam, just pointing out that he is just a man, I never will understand how peopel( much less thoose that call themselves Christian) can have sucha rabid hatred of a person, or for the opposite top think that sun rises and set with him

whatever........just a thought

Allow me to clarify something here. I don't hate President Bush. I understand that being the President is a high stress job, probably the highest stress job there is. However he and his administration have done things that are not right, things that some would classify as evil; such as allowing torture and then lying about it. Saying that one is against these things and believing that he should be held accountable for those things doesn't mean that we, or in my case I, hate him; it means only that we believe that things were done that shouldn't have been and we cannot, in good conscience, support those things.

We have to speak up and have our voices heard because to stay silent in the presence of things that are wrong would be to do a disservice to our Creator.
