You guys talk about deer like you never see them. They cause us to do brake checks on a regular basis. I think they are beautiful...FAR, FAR away from the road.

I have several I say good morning to on a regular basis. This morning, I saw a brownish lump of something about 15 feet off the road and 3 feet in the air. I knew it was 'different' for that spot and somehow familiar, but I couldn't place it until the deer picked it's head up and swished her tail... Yep, it was the deers' keister, and she was showing me her best.

It seems fair - I complained to the property owner to keep her under control so I didn't need to worry about hitting her. I tattled on her, so she expressed her opinion of the matter.

Either that, or she was hungry.

We have turkeys as well. I'd hate to hit one of those - I've heard they do more damage than a deer.

We see deer all the time, usually just one or two and most times off the road in the trees. These got our attention because there were so many of them together.

Sometimes I can get so discouraged about this marriage....

Then I get a devotional that talks about prayer and the parable of the knock at the door in the night. The bold persistence that got the results, and how Jesus told us to keep knocking, louder and louder until we receive what it is we are asking for.

Perhaps it's time to start kicking at that door with my feet also.

I hit a turkey...haha...that's a funny story. I aimed for it and floored it, actually, but in my defense, I was only 18 and every time before, they had flown out of the way in time. This was the day after Thanksgiving. My dad went and got the turkey and they ate it. No damage to my car whatsoever. They said that turkey was way better than a store bought one.

Fresher and easier to dress than a deer.

(((((Ben))))) I would find it hard too to keep perspective about "the disease" and personal. My heart aches for you Ben. Having to deal with this hurt and the seemingly continuous salt in the wound. I dare say you are hanging in longer than many would. I continue to pray Ben.

Well, they aren't exactly common in the valley streets of California...lol! We have to be pretty high in the mountains before we see them here.

I think it is funny that those Pittsburghers came north, cut down the trees, built a house and then complain when the deer visit the all-you-can-eat buffet, I mean flower garden.

I had a Pittsburgher move into our township and he called about someone violating the (non-existant) noise ordinence by sighting in their firearms...

He fits in much better now.

You and Lynn have been the first I pray for every night.

My third son came over this evening. Apparently the doctor thinks he has ADD and is bi-polar. My heart just sank at that news. ds2 has been recently diagnosed with social phobia. That's half of the family (including me) being treated for psychiatric problems.

The last time I saw a dear was at lunch...she was sitting next to me.

We do have deer in our town and our attendents have seem them strolling down our street at night. Deb and I are generally indoors at that hour so we haven't seen them. We mostly just see squirels, chipmunks, and once in a great while a big snapping turtle. Others around here have seen fox, wild turkeys, and coyote (sp?).

Ben, our heart and our prayers continue to go out to you and Lynn. Your diligent turning to the Lord for help is a blessing to us. We will keep praying for you.

I can't imagine how hard your marriage is, Ben, but I admire your perserverance! What a wonderful contrast to the world's attitude towards marriage! God's way isn't easy, is it?

Coyotes? I want to see a coyote!!!! But, I don't like them being around. I've heard them though. Scary sounding.

Let me tell you about the Derkeys. There was story in the Game News, years ago explaing that when you go turkey hunting, you see LOTS of deer. Bucks with big racks, strong does by themselves; but no turkey. So you hunt that area area during whitetail season and don't see nary a deer. But, you see turkey. Hens just walk around, gobblers with long, full beards, but not even a button buck. Go back out for spring turkey and there are the does with their fawns and bucks that haven't lost their antlers yet.

That is because they are Derkeys. A mythical animal that can change shape based on the seasons to keep it safe from hunters.

*****

Ben, you know I'm doing what I can.

Maggie, dear. My first thought when I read your post was that I can think of families around here that are pushing 100% and clueless about it. I say that with a chuckle because you must keep your sense of humor in life but your family supports each other and is willing to seek help, so you will get it. This is good and oh-so-much-better than the clueless folks that I may be mis-diagnosising.

Haha! I know many hunters that would agree with you on the existence of these mythical creatures.

Brian claims he only ever sees a big buck after unloading his weapon in the direction of a fat doe.

Thanks, Momma Bee. Thanks for the encouragement. You make a good point. (And I like your Derkeys.)
