I was worried that all this unseasonable weather down here would adversely affect the mosquito population this year. But I was reassured Saturday evening when I went out briefly and was nearly carried away by the hordes of ravenous critters.

The weather's beautiful in Florida, 60 degrees, staying cool longer than normal which is nice. Here's hoping the weather will stay nice all summer.

Man, I feel horrible for you guys in the South right now. I'm sitting here calling 57 degrees 'cold' and you have to deal with snow at the end of April!

Hope all is well for everyone out there. Any news on the homefronts?

Just because it snowed, don't think that it stayed around.

It all melted as it hit the ground.

Yes, it looked pretty with all those big flakes. If only it would do that during the Winter. instead we get ice storms and heavy winds.

Brothas and sistas!!! A-haa! ::hanky wipe::

I had to find a forum where I could try to figure out how to get my signature to kick on and waste a few posts.

Sorry for polluting the environment.

That's funny that you can't post the whole d-word in the Tyndale quote. Too bad nobody's been able to develop a context filter.

I had a perfect KJV quote (the version that most often comes to mind from so much use in my youth) and the old CW forum didn't just substitute, it flagged it for review before it could be shown. By then, the discussion had moved so far along that I might as well have saved the time and effort.

The quote, BTW, were the words of Jesus.

Hey, just in case anybody happens to be reading this and feels sympathetic, please pray for me. Here's what's going on in the next three days:

-Church History midterm
-Greek midterm
-Paper due on Jurgen Moltmann
-Move furniture out of our Santa Barbara apartment by Saturday

Thanks all!

Warmly,
Mike

Hey, does anyone know anything about John Ortberg??

I have a good feeling about him, but I don't know much. He's the preaching pastor at a church near my hometown, Menlo Park Pres.

I don't think I've heard of him before, but did you know about this site: http://www.mppc.org/esermons.html ?

John Ortberg used to preach at Willow Creek Community church in Chicago.

I've heard some of his sermons/lectures.. he's very solid. I can't tell you whether I would agree with everything he says, just because I haven't heard enough. But, he's definitely about grace.

And that would be my family with the greatest trophy in sports, the Stanley Cup, which our beloved Tampa Bay Lightning won last year in one of the greatest moments in Tampa Bay sports history.

Hey! Anythime a team from down-south wins a hockey game is a great event as far as I'm concerned.

Hey Mike!

Is that a new photo? Are you that Christ-like?

I'd better get off the computer before the lightning strikes!

Y'all paid your dues for that! I'm sure it wasn't always easy supporting the Lightning, but it's terrific when you get there.

I just have to wait for my Predators to make that climb. Go Preds!

Not easy supporting the old Lightning is the understatement of the year. Several years ago, we went to a game where they played so poorly that we described their play as "glimpses of mediocrity in a sea of ineptitude." Actually, I think that was the year before they made the playoffs for the second time in their history (the same year SI picked them to finish dead last), so to go from laughingstock to hoisting the Cup that fast was amazing. I still can hardly believe it that it was almost a year ago that I was jumping up and down in the plaza outside of the Forum, in the middle of a huge crowd, drenched in beer that everybody threw in celebration, and screaming at the top of my lungs because we had just won and I couldn't believe it because we had won but I wasn't old yet.
