The mention of MST3 reminds me that no matter how bad a movie is it can be redeemed with the help of a couple robots...

...I get them from netflix these days[:)]-just watched "The Giant Spider Invasion" last night...

penny99 -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/27/2007 7:30:40 PM)

Starship Troopers was just bad.

White Chicks was so stupid that it was funny (sad thought becuase I think the Waynan Family is talented).

Memaw. -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/27/2007 7:50:53 PM)

We rented Epic Movie last night.

I have now placed it in the top 10 worst movies I have ever wasted money to see.

I'm embarrassed now-that's a secret favorite of mine; might be a guy thing? Guns and alien invading bugs and explosions and such...

Scarface - That movie was dis-gusting, so much blood and gore.

Any slice and dice movies.

I could second the motion--if I'm not too busy appreciating the De Palma remake as an unintentional comedy![8D][:D][&:][;)] That reminds me: I should jumpstart a new thread discussing if 'Say hello to my little friend(!),' version is the epitome of 80's cinema, as in being a yuppie-tasteless (read: excessive profanity and violence to utilize a plastic surgical take on the James Cagney original) classic, later inspiring wannabe yuppies of the 'urban' variety, as in gangsta rap![:D]

Elastic,

What was wrong with "And A River Runs Through It?" I'm not a huge fan of Robert Redford as a director, but this was a really good movie. The scenery was gorgeous and the plot was excellent.

it has been a while since i saw that movie, but it was one of the few movies that i have ever been to see without knowing something about the plot line.

from what i recall, the music was alllll wrong. it kept leading you to think that something dramatic was about to happen, but it just never did.

it was all i could do to stay awake, and the only reason i stayed awake was because i didn't want to miss it if something happened.

but, well, nothing happened. just some fly fishing, and a river

just trying to recall what happened in the movie is making me sleepy.

goldstein -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/30/2007 2:05:58 AM)

Date Movie - I did not laugh even once for the whole thing!
Alexander - Val Kilmer was the ONLY thing worth having in that putrid flick.
The Grudge - has to be the WORST movie I have ever seen. It was so bad that a group (yes, a group) of us saw it on DVD and 20 minutes into the movie we turned the sound off and just ad libbed the rest of the movie. We were so stupid in our overdubbing that we probably made the movie better than it actually was!

Star Trek I. Even diehard Star Trek fans don't recommend this movie. . .you'll be asleep before you can finish your popcorn!

sar-uh -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (6/4/2007 10:50:43 PM)

so.. has anybody seen the new movie BUG??? absolutely the worst movie ever. it was beyond stupid without a doubt. i can't believe it actually made theaters. granted, the acting was incredible, but the storyline was..... terrible.

Get the new DVD release. Part of this movie's problem was that was released in such a rush that it was not edited properly. The new release is the Director's Cut, and is much tighter, flows faster, and is more engaging. They also revamped some of the special effects, but unlike the horrid STAR WARS Special Editions, the changes are not glaring and do not detract from the movie.

Give STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE another shot!

Say, has anyone ever seen, or at least heard of William Friedkin's "Cruising?" It's basically about an undercover cop investigating a series of grisly murders around this New York gay leather bar. Down the line, the cop encounters not only the usual strain of undercover work, but likewise with questioning his sexual orientation; Yikes! So, when Friedkin decided to helm this project, he casted (GASP![sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif][:'(]) Al Pacino playing the cop <shudders>[:'(].

Though the film was heavily panned in its initial (1980) release for being homophobic, it somehow earned some degree of respectability decades later, presumably by some portions of the gay community who sees Cruising as a time capsule of the pre-AIDS era of sex culture... sorta like Armisted Maupin's "Tales of The City." Especially with internet chatter of deleted graphic scenes, I don't know how well I could stomach the original content. The script was supposedly based on an old New York Times article from the post-Stonewall 70's.

I guess I'll have to watch Scarface and the whole Godfather trilogy after watching this notorious flop-turned 'cult classic!'

amymelissa -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (6/6/2007 10:33:53 PM)

Borat... I only watched the first 30-60 minutes but it was horrible!
And Kenny, the movie about the toilet guy... no storyline, no real plot, so boring.
These are the only two movies I have stopped and not bothered watching the end.

morningmike -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (6/7/2007 10:49:22 AM)

Worst movie I've seen, ever? Has to be a piece of drivel I saw in my early 20's called "Drive, He Said".

Close behind is "Syriana", followed by "Caddyshack 2". As entertaining a movie that the first Caddyshack was, why oh why did they do the second one? Normally, I find Jackie Mason very funny, but that film just didn't click for me.

Someone mentioned how they liked the soundtrack of a movie, but didn't care for the film itself. I feel the same about the 50s musical Oklahoma. Wonderful music and catchy songs, but the story didn't make much sense to me. Also I liked O Brother Where Art Thou, but I think the soundtrack is better than the film. I don't know what's the very worst for me, but as far as most boring, I guess it's The Firm, that Tom Cruise-as-a-lawyer film that came out several years ago. I'd never before fallen asleep in the theatre until that movie, and snoozed through at least two-thirds of it.

Oh come on now, it was meant to be a cheesy fun movie. I loved it when I first saw it, I have never seen an audience collectively make jokes about things and laugh together like that before.

SKC8199 -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (6/7/2007 9:25:49 PM)

Cannonball Run was funny, then they had to make an idiotic sequel, that thing was bad.

Another sequel was Smokey and the Bandit 3, what were they producers thinking, maybe a nice tax write off?

Booklvr -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (6/7/2007 10:17:46 PM)

Mannequin 1 & 2 (and 3 if they ever made it). Absolutely dreadful. [:'(]

Mannequin 1 & 2 (and 3 if they ever made it). Absolutely dreadful.

I agree that Mannequin 2 was dreadful, but the original wasn't that bad, was it? I actually liked it. I thought I'd bust a gut at Meshach Taylor's turn as "Hollywood" - he was so-o-o-o-o over-the-top.

Hmm...well Mannequin 1 did have some charm and was better than the 2nd, I'll give you that but the idiotic security guard ruined it for me. [:'(] Mesach Taylor was great in both of them, yes, definitely the best parts of those movies. [;)]

Slap your tongue! It's a bedtime story, not a blockbuster. However, I definitely didn't "get" Signs.

My most-hated movies:

Very Bad Things—I turned it off after it went from ridiculously offensive to patheticly offensive.
Reno 911: Miami—I should have walked out of the theater. Why I didn't is beyond me.
The Movie 4—A group of local high school students made this hour-and-a-half-long instrument of torture. I only stayed through the end out of sheer politeness. The acting, script, filmography and editing were the worst I'd ever seen. I'd have been ashamed to show that to anyone, but they were proud of it.
According to Spencer—I learned my lesson about watching a movie because one of my favorite actors is in it.
