My computer has been on the 'blink' and they are saved on it. I haven't forgotten though as soon as we get the problems straighten out so I can stay on it more than a few minutes at a time I promise I'll look for them.

Thanks! I was just wondering if you ever found them. Hope you get your computer fixed, I know how aggravating it can be to have one with troubles.

That's cool. I still haven't heard from anyone since that one e-mail from Dean. I wonder if they've just been so busy they haven't had time to answer?

Who is Lewis Wells (from the Hopper Happenings page)? Is he their piano player or something?

I am just wondering why he is not in any Cd photos or PR photos. All other Piano players in SG are considered part of the Group and pictured right along side of the singers. This just seems a little strange to me.

I have no idea...the only piano player that was in their pictures was Denice, probably because she was family, but Josh wasn't even pictured.

Never thought about that but since you've mentioned it I must agree with you...unless he's just a fill-in. Speaking of piano players...what was Roy Webb doing in the photo shoot video????

I think Shannon Childress was in some album covers.

Shannon Childress was always featured on the album covers during his tenure with the group. Roger Talley was also shown on the album covers during his tenure. I don't have an answer as to why Lewis Wells is not.

It could be that after Denise left, they wanted to make the change as quiet as possible, so instead of having one different face, they elected to have one fewer face.

I agree with Daniel. Lewis has been with them since 2006, and they have only done one CD since then and he wasn't featured on it.

Does anyone remember the song "God Raised The Ransom" that the Hoppers did? That was one of my all time favorite songs that they did in the 90s...such a powerful message! I got to thinking about it the other day since it is so close to Easter, how it is appropriate for this season.

Another question:
Was anyone on here a fan of the Hoppers or Greenes the year Kim left the Greenes to join be with Dean?? I have read about it in both the Greenes and Hopper's biography books, and was wondering if any of you all followed these groups back then?

I think Seaton might have been. SGEnthusiast was around back then, but I'm not sure she was following either group closely at that point.

As for me...well, I would have been a toddler, and it would still be over a decade before I'd so much as hear of Southern Gospel.

I was noticing that the Hoppers are with the Gaithers in Europe this week. I don't suppose this might be another DVD being made now would it?

Not to bore everyone else, but since you are fairly new to the boards I will give you the short version of my thought on the Hoppers.

*Hopper Brothes & Connie were the first group I saw in concert as a (4) year old boy in 1979.
*I have nearly 60 recordings of the Hoppers (Hopper Brothers & Connie) that date back to the mid '60s.
*I have personal stories of their genorosity and kindness, that happened when I was a child that I will always remember.
*Even though I have current favorite artitsts that sometimes change daily , the Hoppers will always be an all-time favorite.
*I first saw the Greenes in 1985 and have nearly every recording they have done (with the exception of 3).
*I remember seeing Kim then and realizing she was in store for a great career. She was one of my favorite female vocalists then.
*The mid to late '80s was a great period for Southern Gospel music, especially in the live concert setting! Some of my fondest concert memories are from that time period.

I certainly do, and I agree, it is one of the most powerful songs that The Hops have ever done. Marcia Henry is a very underrated song writer, although she has written may well-known songs. Two of her other hits: "Roses Will Bloom Again" and "God Likes To Work".

I've been a Hopper fan about 35 of my 43 years. I first remember seeing them on a rare appearance on the famed "Gospel Singing Jubilee" show. Their signature song at the time was "Step Along", which they've recorded multiple times. We've used The Hoppers and The Greenes off and on for years at my home church; especially as our annual homecoming singers. It used to fall about 2 weeks before NQC. One year, The Greenes were scheduled, and they had a lovely young girl traveling with them. She wasn't recognized from the stage at all, and nothing was mentioned about her purpose. She just appeared to be a 'friend' who was traveling with them.

I was surprised a few days later when at the NQC, Kim powerfully sang the first verse of their current hit, "When I Knelt, The Blood Fell" and then quietly walked over to this same young lady who was now standing on the edge of the stage. Kim handed her the mic, and Amy Lambert walked to center stage. When she opened her mouth to sing, the crowd went wild! She sounded JUST like Kim, and everyone knew that they had literally witnessed a 'changing of the guards', as far as The Greenes were concerned. It was truly an awesome thing to see. In time, Amy grew into her own sound, but for a while, her initial popularity was based on the fact that she sounded so much like Kim.
