Well, over three quarters of our politicians do receive money from Jewish lobbyists which come directly from the nation of Israel, which in turn comes directly from American taxpayers, because of the billions of dollars of "loans" we give Israel every year. I haven't heard anything about Israel come from Michael Moore, not that I care.

So Israel has no economy of its own? Are you saying they are totally financially dependent on the US?

I didn't say that, but that brings up a good point. If they do have their own economy, why are we still giving them billions of dollars in loans, that are never paid back, except through paying our politicians?

The Israel lobby debate The Israel lobby debate In March the London Review of Books published John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt's essay 'The Israel Lobby'. The response to the article prompted the LRB to hold a debate under the heading 'The Israel lobby: does it have too much influence on American foreign policy?'. The debate took place in New York on 28 September in the Great Hall of the Cooper Union. The panellists were Shlomo Ben-Ami, Martin Indyk, Tony Judt, Rashid Khalidi, John Mearsheimer and Dennis Ross, and the moderator was Anne-Marie Slaughter.A video of the event, produced by ScribeMedia, is now available to view online. Click here to view the debate. The Israel Lobby John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt For the past several decades, and especially since the Six-Day War in 1967, the centrepiece of US Middle Eastern policy has been its relationship with Israel. The combination of unwavering support for Israel and the related effort to spread ‘democracy’ throughout the region has inflamed Arab and Islamic opinion and jeopardised not only US security but that of much of the rest of the world. This situation has no equal in American political history. Why has the US been willing to set aside its own security and that of many of its allies in order to advance the interests of another state? One might assume that the bond between the two countries was based on shared strategic interests or compelling moral imperatives, but neither explanation can account for the remarkable level of material and diplomatic support that the US provides. Instead, the thrust of US policy in the region derives almost entirely from domestic politics, and especially the activities of the ‘Israel Lobby’. Other special-interest groups have managed to skew foreign policy, but no lobby has managed to divert it as far from what the national interest would suggest, while simultaneously convincing Americans that US interests and those of the other country – in this case, Israel – are essentially identical. Since the October War in 1973, Washington has provided Israel with a level of support dwarfing that given to any other state. It has been the largest annual recipient of direct economic and military assistance since 1976, and is the largest recipient in total since World War Two, to the tune of well over $140 billion (in 2004 dollars). Israel receives about $3 billion in direct assistance each year, roughly one-fifth of the foreign aid budget, and worth about $500 a year for every Israeli. This largesse is especially striking since Israel is now a wealthy industrial state with a per capita income roughly equal to that of South Korea or Spain. Other recipients get their money in quarterly installments, but Israel receives its entire appropriation at the beginning of each fiscal year and can thus earn interest on it. Most recipients of aid given for military purposes are required to spend all of it in the US, but Israel is allowed to use roughly 25 per cent of its allocation to subsidise its own defence industry. It is the only recipient that does not have to account for how the aid is spent, which makes it virtually impossible to prevent the money from being used for purposes the US opposes, such as building settlements on the West Bank. Moreover, the US has provided Israel with nearly $3 billion to develop weapons systems, and given it access to such top-drawer weaponry as Blackhawk helicopters and F-16 jets. Finally, the US gives Israel access to intelligence it denies to its Nato allies and has turned a blind eye to Israel’s acquisition of nuclear weapons.

A great leader;I predict he'll run for higher office w/ an assist from Karl Rove: quote:
Netanyahu Sweeps Israel's Likud Race Aug 14 05:37 PM US/Eastern JERUSALEM (AP) - Benjamin Netanyahu swept the race to lead Israel's hardline Likud Party, according to interim results reported Tuesday, boosting his ambitions to reclaim the country's premiership. Netanyahu, crowned in recent polls as the front-runner for Israel's top job, faced off against far-right West Bank settler Moshe Feiglin, who would bar Arabs from Israel's parliament and favors their emigration. A partial tally gave Netanyahu 73 percent of the vote to Feiglin's 22 percent, party executive director Gad Arieli said. World Likud Party Chairman Danny Danon trailed with 4 percent. While a Netanyahu victory had been all but assured, a strong Feiglin showing could have shored up Israel's extreme right and hurt Netanyahu's efforts to rehabilitate the Likud after it was trounced in elections last year. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8R121TO0&show_article=1

U.S. and Israel Sign Record $30 Billion Military Aid Deal Thursday, August 16, 2007 JERUSALEM — The United States offered Israel on Thursday an unprecedented $30-billion military aid package, bolstering its closest Mideast ally. The aid deal signed in a ceremony in Jerusalem represents a 25 percent rise in U.S. military aid to Israel, from a current $2.4 billion each year to $3 billion a year over 10 years. Nicholas Burns, the U.S. undersecretary of state for political affairs, and Israeli Foreign Minister Director-General Aharon Abramovitz signed the memorandum of understanding on the assistance at a ceremony in Jerusalem. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,293423,00.html

Don't we buy some of our weapons from Israel? I guess Israel is just a defense contractor for us, huh?

Desert Eagle? I believe we were looking at some radar system they've developed. I'll have to find links for those.

Yes, Israel is an advanced country where the need to develop defense systems is critical. It's not surprising that they have come up with things that the US has only dreamed of.

The dessert eagle isn't used by any of our military or police forces as far as i know. I think some FBI units carried the baby eagle for a while but that is about it. Most of those who carry sidearms in the regular military units are carrying barretas and i think glock is coming into the picture(well last time i knew) and our special ops guy are normally carrying the higher end HKs and such. Those eagles are too cumbersome. I hadn't heard about the Radar system i will look into that.

Hezbollah Video Game Replays Last Year's War ...."This game presents the culture of the resistance to children: that occupation must be resisted and that land and the nation must be guarded," a Hezbollah spokesman told Reuters. In the new first-person shooter, the player takes on the role of a mujaheed, or holy warrior, and scores points by killing Israeli soldiers, firing at tanks and launching missiles over the border into northern Israel. The actual war, which lasted from mid-July to mid-August 2006, was characterized by fierce ground skirmishes as well as surgical Israeli airstrikes on Lebanese infrastructure and badly targeted Hezbollah missile attacks on northern Israel. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,293616,00.html

And we don't have video games that do the same thing? What's your point?

OUCH a mark on the real satan***: quote:
***Ahmadinejad: Israel Is Bearer of Satan Aug 18 09:31 PM US/Eastern TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Saturday that Israel was the standard bearer of Satan and the Jewish state would soon fall apart, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported. The agency quoted Ahmadinejad as he spoke at a religious conference and did not elaborate on what he meant by Satan. Since the 1979 Islamic revolution, however, Iran has regularly referred to the United States as "the Great Satan." "The Zionist regime is the standard bearer of invasion, occupation and Satan," he said, predicting Israel's eventual demise. "When the philosophy behind the establishment of a regime is in question, it is not unlikely that it will find itself on a course of decline and dissolution." http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8R3PRS00&show_article=1

Actually, anyone without Christ is a bearer of Satan, so there is some truth to the statement.

Israel Returns Illegal African Migrants to Egypt One would think that the Israeli government would be a little bit more sympathetic toward Sudanese/Darfurian people who are escaping genocide.

They are fearful in being sent back to Sudan/Darfur due to the fact that many have face harsh treatment while in Egypt.

Then it seems our attention should be on Egypt rather than Israel. But that wouldn't fit in with any anti-Zionist agenda, would it?
