It does boot normally yes. We haven't been able to get there and my mom doesn't really know how to explain what she's seeing so I have no idea where she got from there. Any suggestions for when I get home to work on it?

Needed to resurrect this old thread...
I got a couple of problems. See, my dad is getting older, and while he's still firmly in his right mind, he is getting to the point where he really hates his day and plans interrupted. I realize I need to stop asking him to do stuff like take a look at the car if it's making a funny noise or haul off those boxes in the garage...it annoys him, messes up his day, and he does half a job on it because he didn't want to do it in the first place.
So...
I have a car that is making a funny noise. It is a Mercury Sable with 150000 miles on it, and my daughter described it as sounding like a "weed eater" winding up as she accelerated.
My dad did come and look at it briefly, added some power steering fluid but "couldn't find anything wrong".
I'm thinking that it needs to go to a mechanic.
Here's my question: how does one find a good mechanic? One that won't take advantage of a woman? Even friends who were mechanics have taken advantage of me, so I feel very leary of just taking the car in somewhere.
Second question: and this one I feel silly having to post, but I honestly just don't know.
A few weeks back I bought some furniture, which arrived in heavy cardboard boxes. There is a burn ban on here, so I can't burn them. But I need to get rid of them: I can't get my car in the garage. Dad said he was going to haul them off, but I know he's completely forgotten about them now.
Who do I call? How can I get rid of them?

John_O pretty much covered it, though I have a different method for cleaning the house portion of the vent. I tie some old socks on a rope (so they poof out as much as possible) and run that back and forth through the pipe. To get it started, I use a stiff garden hose to push through and tie the rop on that. The rope needs to be at least twice the length of the vent pipe, plus four or five feet to work with at the ends.
But a Shop-Vac should work well, if you have the money to buy one or the connections to borrow one.

One: Ask around at your church. Don't ask anyone you know is or is related to a mechanic. Some consensus should emerge as to who in the area is honest and who should be avoided. You might also try something like Angie's List (search engine results should get you the info you need on this).
Two: If they're still intact, join your local Freecycle mailing list and post an offer as moving boxes or such. If they're not intact, find and decide if you need to remove some or all of the staples, then see if you can find a neighbor kid with a good imagination. :) If it's in terrible shape, maybe talk to some local stores to see if they will take it or tell you where you can get rid of it, or contact the company that shipped you the furniture and ask them to haul it off. As a last resort, get a box cutter and slice it into small pieces and put them in your trash pick up, if you have service. Finally, check your local regulations and see if you can bury it, and if so, hire a neighbor boy to do the trench work.

Another source is "Find a mechanic" on Cartalk.com. You type in your zip code and a mileage range. These are listener recommendations and the comments are included.

OK Honey's.
The Girl loves eating Sundae cones. Sundae cones love dripping chocolate. Daddy hates getting chocolate out of the Girl's clothes. What works to get chocolate out?

hmm have you tried turning them? like the whole thing? that's the best suggestion I have, its hard for me to visualize without a visual LOL

It is square, flush with the wall, It has a square piece of glass with a metal frame. The frame is not removable. The bulb is under the glass, but I can't figure out how to get to it.

Are you sure the frame around the glass doesn't not come off the wall? I am thinking you might have to pry it off.........but wait and get more opinions first........

OK I have to know. Was the pink liquid somehow related to the blood? Did the pink liquid knock the victim out and then you butchered him? How did you get rid of the body?

What I read recommended soaking the stain in COLD water (hot water may cause the chocolate to coagulate into the fabric it said, thus making it more difficult -possibly impossible- to remove) for at least a half hour. Then rub the fabric against itself under running cold water to loosen the stain in the fabric (I know for a fact this is a good technique for many stains).
One of my stain removal guides recommended using borax on the stain before laundering, the other simply said a cleaner (detergent/stain remover) with enzymes.
Then wash the fabric in hot water, check to see if the stain is gone if not repeat the process. Do NOT dry in the dryer until the stain is gone or it will set permanently.

I have a question.......we had some major flooding where I live this past weekend..........my car, parked outside of the garage had water up past the doors.........so when I opened the doors to get in water rushed in.......the floor was covered.......and the water soaked into the seats............now it is dry yet still has this dirty wet smell.........i have tried spraying lysol........but it still has the smell.........kinda like wet dog.........any suggestions........someone suggested trying kittie litter but I hate that smell as well..........my eyes water if I use most refreshers........please help......

Nadine, I have what they call "can lights" in my ceiling. They look like you describe, only round. It looks as if the frame is not removable, but it really does pull down far enough for you to get to the bulb. Have you tried just pulling straight out on the frame? It may be stiff, because there may be wires holding the frame into the "can" that the light is in. My frames are plastic and sometimes get old and brittle and I have to replace them.
