Me too. I got to see them a little less than a year ago and I was really impressed with their personalities and attitude. And of course their singing, too!

(in response to "who are your favorite soloists?")

1. Gerald Wolfe (surprise! .... from the "old" days)
2. Ivan Parker
3. I'll have to think about #3. I've got several in mind, but they're singing music I don't like/can't stand now, so I'll have to ponder this for a while!!!

ORIGINAL: danielmount

Great idea on #1 there! I loved that solo project!

He'd be higher on my list--maybe #1--if he was still cranking out solo projects like that. But I'll put him at #3 for now. :)

ORIGINAL: GVfan

You know, a lot of SG artists release solo CDs apart from their group. I wish Gerald would do that for us!!!

ORIGINAL: danielmount

Yes, especially if he went back and did it in that Steve Green-ish style. A Cd like that--now that Gerald himself is an icon, as opposed to (then) just someone who'd spent a year and a half with an iconic group--could really go places. :)

ORIGINAL: GVfan
I couldn't agree more!

Thought I would bring this over to the Greater Vision thread (sorry it's a little jumbled....there's not really a good way to "transfer" between threads that I know about). Would you like to see a Gerald Wolfe solo project? (Boy, if he would agree to it, I'd lose sleep until it came out!!! That's how excited I would be!! ) What do y'all think?

Gerald has done a piano solo CD recently (which I LOVE), so I think it would be a really good time for a solo vocal CD! Maybe we should contact his mom --- she's the one he did the piano solo CD for!!!!

I'd buy a solo vocal CD by Gerald if he made one. Rodney too.

I don't think I'll call mommy! But I may talk to Gerald if enough people think this is a good idea (or maybe even if they don't )!

I would like to hear a solo project from Jason as well as Gerald and Rodney. He has one of the smoothest tenor voices in SG in my opinion. I like how he doesn't try to 'show off' with the screaming high notes.
Don't get me wrong, they work well in a quartet setting, but for GV his voice is perfect.

Let me tell you, if there were no Legacy Five, and no Roger Bennett, then Greater Vision would be IT!

By the way, who sings lead on the song, "Midnight Cry"?

The original Gold City version? That would be Ivan Parker.

If they did, I haven't heard it. I bet it's awesome though!

I just took the initiative to actually check the CD I got the song off from, and yes, it was Gold City. For some reason I thought it was GV.

Dinana sent me this link of Gerald at the ripe old age of 23! He had just become The Cathedrals pianist and George featured him on a song! I loved it and thought other GV/Gerald Wolfe fans would enjoy it, too! Let me know what you think!!!

I liked it, too!

I wish there was a video of him performing some of his solo material in concert.

I'm going to see GV this Thursday night at Real Evangelism at FBC/Woodstock. They're showing two speakers (2 of my favorites, Johnny Hunt and Jerry Vines) with GV providing the music. This is my first conference. Has anyone on here been in previous years? Do you know how this works? Is it one sermon, then singing, then another sermon???? How much/when will GV get to sing? I'll be going from downtown Atlanta and I'm concerned that I won't be able to get there by the 6:30pm start time (I won't get to leave work until 5pm that day).

Last year they had a choir each night from different churches. They sang and a few congregational songs led by Mike Speck they a preacher, group sang for 30 - 40 minutes then another preacher. Don't know how they will run it this year. Several years ago the groups sang before each preacher. Gold City is there Wednesday instead of Friday as had been advertised. Greater Vision on Thursday. Mike Speck Trio, Friday with Mike leading music all three nights. It is usually a full bottom floor with part of the balcony being used. People come from EVERYWHERE.

He was as cute as a baby's hiney.

Does anyone else think he bore a bit of a resemblance to Wayne Newton in the video?

Maybe it was the hair.
