At this point, I think "It Means Just What It Says" has to be a contender for next year's song of the year! Love that song!

As a matter of fact, at NQC, when they did the song, Gerald said at the end, "Now that's a good song."

As I sat out in the audience, I said--out loud but not too loud--"It's next year's Song of the Year, too." Greater Vision stands a chance of winning Song of the Year even if they release a song that only their fans like, so when they release a really good song, it will automatically be a very serious contender.[:)]

I told y'all in July how good it was. I came out of that concert extremely excited about that song and I still stand by what I said then. I certainly hope they sing it when I see them on October 7 in Wilmington, Ohio.

If you're reading this Gerald, please, please, please sing It Means Just What It Says and My Name Is Lazarus when you are in Wilmington! It's worth the two hour drive just to hear those two songs!

My Name is Lazarus is my favorite, too! I can't imagine that they wouldn't do those two songs during your concert, Jeff.

I can almost promise we'll do those two songs, but be sure to remind one of us before the concert. According to "Kerrlaw", at my age, it's possible I could forget between now and then. lol

Both those songs hit home. I love it when a song moves me. It's nice to have my spirit moved but even better when it's changed!!

geraldwolfe -> RE: Just Everyday People--The Greater Vision Thread (9/25/2007 12:17:37 PM)

Since you've been listening to our music as long as anybody, I really value your opinion. Thanks for the compliments.

Gerald,

I got the CD at NQC but it was this past weekend before I 'really' got to listen to it. I had it in the van and there were always folks in there talking and stuff while it played in the backgroud. But having listened, it has joined the ranks of the 'frequent players' in my van (Karen's 'Joy for the Journey', Gold City 'Revival' and Perrys' 'Look No Further' are the other frequent played alongwith Hoppers 'The Ride').

I haven't decided on a favorite yet because there isn't a bad cut on the CD. I love that you pulled out a copy of 'old favorites' - "I Just Came to Talk to You Lord" and "Too Much to Gain to Lose" are some of my all-time favorite songs and you did an AWESOME job on them!

I know I give you 'grief' a lot but man, you nailed it on this CD!!!!! I've walked around all day yesterday humming the tunes from it!

Most CDs I get, I listen a time or two, go back to my 'frequent players' and pull out occasionally on long trips to break the monotany of listening to the same CDs when travelling 3 hours or more. I can't see this one ever falling into that category!

You're only a month older than me and I'm not going to forget! [sm=Llol.gif]

Surely, between the two of us, we'll remember!

L5MAN -> RE: Just Everyday People--The Greater Vision Thread (9/25/2007 12:22:52 PM)

I just ordered the new CD...I can't wait!

geraldwolfe -> RE: Just Everyday People--The Greater Vision Thread (9/25/2007 12:23:57 PM)

I really do think "It Means Just What It Says" is a good song... a really good song. Everytime we sing it, the reponse is overwhelming. I think there are lots of people, including myself, that have been wanting to get that message out for a long time, and then for Rodney to put it into a song, makes me just want to stand up and shout "YES! That's what I've been wanting to say!"

You are welcome! I have been listening to GV since the beginning and you much longer than that! [:D]

I still remember you driving to Greenville to hear the Cathedrals in concert before you were with them. See the memory isn't always the first to go!!!

I felt the same way when I heard you guys sing it in West Chester, Ohio in July. My first thought was it's about time someone did a song like that. I honestly believe that this song will be Song of the Year for y'all next year. And it will give Rodney another Songwriter of the Year award.

L5MAN -> RE: Just Everyday People--The Greater Vision Thread (9/25/2007 12:29:31 PM)

Hey Gerald,
When are you guys coming close to East Texas?

I think we actually did that in Gainesville! [;)]

I don't have my schedule in front of me right now, but I do know we'll be in Texas during the last weekend of October. Check out our schedule at www.greatervisionmusic.com

Gerald, glad you are able to be home resting and relaxing today. Hi to Miss Donna. Y'all be good now. And we appreciate the posts.

I hope you like the new CD... since I was the producer this time! lol
Lari Goss did the track arranging and, since he's the greatest Gospel studio musician in histroy (my personal opinion), he played the piano on the tracks too.

If you like the song you purchased from iTunes, I hope you get a chance to get the entire CD. I like iTunes, but in this case, you're missing out on some great, and very funny, photos from the CD insert.

Thanks for all the great comments in this thread. I don't get a chance to log in often, but it's great to know we have friends like you.

Don't worry, I will get that CD!!! It's just a matter of when. I haven't yet bought an entire CD off of iTunes, because I want liner notes, etc. But when I just have to have one song and can't yet afford to buy the whole thing ... Come on, that's not much more than a quart of pop from QuikTrip![:D]

I didn't quite think it had the Lari Goss feel ... but he's so varied, I could never be sure. I was hoping that maybe you had produced this one again. OK, what I was really thinking about was that the steel guitar does a lot of "funny" stuff at the end of the song. So I have a question which you might get around to answering and you might not ... Does the producer decide something like that? I mean, would you decide you wanted an instrument to do a certain thing in a certain place? I know a lot of times the player would have the inspiration for the idea.

I dunno, I just like to know what goes on behind the scenes. When Roger produced "A Perfect Heart," (one of his solo albums), he told how the backup players gave one of the medleys on it a different "feel" than he'd intended, and he liked it and went with it. I like knowing facts like that![:D][;)]

Awesome quilt!!!

Hey Gerald! Just wanted to say again how grateful we are that you guys do requests. Not all groups are so good at doing our favorite songs. I will never forget a couple years ago when you were reading the pile of notes of requests. You got that funny look on your face and said that it must have been an old lady that wrote this one. Well, our row cracked up. My mother wrote it and I will never let her forget that Gerald thinks she is an old woman!!! Thanks for another great concert memory!!!
BTW, we were so disapointed you all didn't make it to upstate NY this year!

L5FanLady -> RE: Just Everyday People--The Greater Vision Thread (9/25/2007 11:30:08 PM)

That's a very nice quilt, Donna![:)]

Gerald, can I have it? LOL[:D]

L5Ropeholder -> RE: Just Everyday People--The Greater Vision Thread (9/25/2007 11:43:51 PM)

You have to buy one of everything on the product table...
