I don't have any suggestions about an instrumental CD, but I have an idea that I am going to throw out in public for other folks to re-shape, shoot down[:D], or otherwise play with. I keep thinking about GV doing a tribute to the Goodman family. Not a blatant "we're going to sing every hit song by the Goodmans even though we know only the Goodmans could do that," but rather an actual tribute to the Goodmans. In my mind, it would contain several Goodman songs that were not very well known. In other words, not to fill it with "The Lighthouse," "Jesus Pilots My Ship," and "God Walks the Dark Hills," but instead maybe "Heartbeat from Heaven," "It's a Wonderful Feeling," and so on. Stuff that a lot of younger fans either wouldn't recognize or at least wouldn't have copies of. Then there should also be one or two of their better known songs, and one or two new songs by Rodney (maybe) that Howard, Rusty, or Vestal *would have* sung if somebody had pitched them that direction. Maybe this is a better table album idea, because I really don't go for copycatting, but I think that you guys could take this idea and pull it off! I wonder how wrong I would be if I guessed that it had occurred to Gerald before ... I also wanted to say something else, since I know now that Gerald reads this thread. August a year ago, I got the Perfect Candidate album for my birthday. (Yeah, I'm always a little behind!) I was playing it for my brother that evening ... He had been going through a terribly tough battle. He'd been personally attacked and kinda had his back stabbed by friends, and was fighting depression, and I really think having a rougher time than most 19-year-olds usually deal with. When "You'll Carry Me Through" came on, he just put his head in his hands and sobbed through the whole song. It is still really special to him, and so of course it is to me too, and I just thought maybe you and Rodney would like to know that![:)] I know that is your goal in what you're doing.
