Great news for the Prophets!!!

However, does this mean yet another delay in the release of their long awaited and anticipated CD?

Paul, you're running behind.

I see an announcement where Eddie Crook is the new pianist for the Prophets Quartet.

Robert...the powers that be told me to stay mum until they announced it. I just read it for myself here at the SN site. Will post an article about the matter at my blog tonite...or rather, this morning! We have a firm that officially does our press work. They wanted this one. I will follow up with a post and maybe another release to the bloggers.

Needless to say, we all are excited to have EC on board. He is so experienced and very talented. I am also impressed with his down to earth personal life, walk with the Lord and service to his local church. Kathy already feels like she knows Janice. These are special people. Some of the best around!

THANKS Cz! It is great news. Eddie has not been "in a group" since his days with the Happy Goodmans...in their heyday. He was there for most of those Canaan Records and most of the Marvin Norcross years. Wow! Three bonafide "legends" now in The Prophets. Mike and I are having a blast singing with these guys. I hope all the SG fans will give these special men the respect and honor due them. They are examples of the very best SG has to offer. Faithful men, husbands, fathers and servants of God, who really do love the Lord they proclaim in song!

Actually, Eddie's presence should speed things up a little. I will blog about some of the reasons why, at my site (see below).
Thanks for your interest.

He was in a great quartet called "Vocal Edition" in the mid 1990s. Those guys did some wonderful singing. Anyone besides me remember them? It nearly made me forget his time with the Goodmans!

Well, I stand corrected. Vocal Edition sure sounds familiar. I will ask EC about his experience there.

Do you remember anyone else in the group?

He had a couple of legends in that group, too:

Jim Murray, Charles Booth, Greg Toney, and Charles Lockhart were the singers with Eddie at the piano. I saw them twice. They were wonderful singers and had some great arrangements, too. They brought back the sound of the Imperials on several of their numbers.

Their CD was released in 1997.

I love Jim Murray. We worked together numerous times in the late 80's early 90's. To a great degree, he was the sound of The Imperials.
I would love to have heard the VE.

Will have lunch with Eddie on Monday. We will talk about the VE. We (TPQ), will be rehearsing for our TV and video shoot, that evening. I will have my video recorder on, back home...taping the Finals of the NCAA Tournament.

Hey friends...I really need your prayers.

The tornado that ripped through Little Rock on April 3rd, scored a direct hit on my church: The Highlands Church, sbc. Our educational building has sustained major damage. Our worship center was hardly touched. We have no power, and probably won't for several days. Making temporary plans for this Sunday. Our rehearsal for The Prophets, that is scheduled for this Monday in Nashville, will probably have to be resheduled. All of the guys have expressed concern for our church and my family.

If you would like to know about our experience with the tornado, you
can read my blog at the LINK below.
Thanks...PJ

Mr.Eddie Crook delivered the MASTERED copy of THE PROPHETS' new Cd to Johnny Minick yesterday. Johnny and Michael Sykes, had placed EC in charge of the final mix "tweaking" session, and the mastering session. They felt like Eddie would get a real good Qt vocal sound and bring some objectivity, and some fresh ears to the table. EC was very pleased with the final mix and the mastering session. I have heard it all and for what it's worth, I am happy with it too!

We are going to have VIP product real soon, days...photo work has been done...art is being done now. Retail release will be later. Radio has got to be very soon now. You will be able to get your copy online, if you like.

Just like the tornado that hit my church last Thursday (see the previous post), God has a plan in, and a hand in, every delay that has struck this project. I really believe that there are songs on this Cd that will touch lives, mend hearts and exalt the Savior!

Mercy!!! It's getting exciting!

Please pray for my wife, Kathy. She is having an out-patient surgery this morning in Little Rock. It was unexpected and urgent. Has required me to postpone my Prophets' TV planning meeting with Eddie Crook...one more time. Last week it was the tornado that hit our church. This weekend, both my wife of 35 years and our Rottweiler of 11 years, have had physical emergencies with which to deal.

Our eldest son, Matt, is getting married on Saturday. I am conducting the ceremony and Kathy is scheduled to be in the wedding. She will need a good, effective and quick recovery time. Please pray for us...thanks!

Thank you DINANA, KERLAW1 and COUNTRYGIRLS...for your prayers.
Kathy did very well. Home tonight resting. We still have a busy and important week ahead. Appreciate all of you.

Eddie Crook and I are in the process of re-scheduling our song/work day. It is fabulous having Eddie on board with The Prophets. He is making so many wonderful contributions. His experience, expertise, example and demeanor bring so much value to the group. All of us are so pleased with his decision to join us. I am learning a ton of stuff from him.

Eddie got the Cd design completed yesterday. VIP product should be available within 2-3 weeks now. Retail release will be a little later. If you want your copy of the first PROPHETS recording in 35 years, an autographed copy will be available through online orders at an official PROPHETS web-site and individual group members' sites. I will keep you posted. It's hard to believe but it's finally here. Will announce a Cd Title within days. Thanks. God bless The Prophets!

Please pray for me. Will be driving to Nashville tomorrow for meetings and rehearsals with The Prophets on Monday and Tuesday. Eddie Crook and I will be going over music options to present to the guys for our stage program and our first TV taping that is scheduled for next month.

Now that the delivery of our product is in view, we are booking the TPQ schedule for the fall of '08 and all of '09. Already have some pretty neat stuff on the calendar. Will begin announcing them real soon. I would expect to announce the Cd title, and our May-August appearance and production schedule, as soon as this week's meetings are concluded. Stay tuned...

PS...any suggestions for some old songs for us to stage, along with cuts from our recording? Do you have any vintage Prophets' tunes that you would like to hear us do?

How about "It's Just Like Heaven" (the one Greater Vision did)? I think that would sound really good with your lineup.

It would be neat to hear Mike Holcomb sing "Lonesome Road."

And with Eddie Crook on board, you can't not do "What a Beautiful Day," can you?

Daniel...did you mean Mike Allen?

"What a beautiful day"...great idea. Maybe we could do it as a tribute to both Johnny Cook and Vestal. We knew and loved them both. It would have to be a different arragement though...at least I think so. Maybe EC could come up with a new one for the stage. I kinda hear it in a medley.
Thanks for the idea.

Paul,

How about "Neither Do I Condemn Thee", "Worry Who I", "What A Wonderful Day" or "Sinner Let Me Tell You"? All classic Prophets songs, would sound good with just a piano. And lest we forget, "Sinner's Plea"....
