Well let me say thanks to Amerigrammy and Daniel Mount for being so kind to me!!! And yes, I did live in Benton Ar from 1973 to 1998....as Lot said, I took a wife, and she moved me to Missouri!! :) I used to not like saying I was from AR but the older I get the more I long for those times when I lived there. It will always be home I guess, although technically I am an Okie origianlly!! :):) And proud of that too! I lived in Ar when Lou Holtz and Eddie Sutton were the coaches! LOVE THOSE MEMORIES, WOO PIG SOOIE!!!!!!!!!

I believe that will be enough for Paul Jackson to like you.[:)]

pauljackson -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/24/2007 5:02:01 PM)

Way to Go Randy Byrd!

Let's call those HOGS!!!!

Woooooooo, Pig! Sowee!
Woooooooo, Pig! Sowee!
Woooooooo, Pig! Sowee!
RAZORBACKS!!!

Welcome to our AR singer's thread...we have a lot of "foreign" friends
on here as well. I look forward to meeting you sir.
Like you, I was blessed to move to AR at age 12 when my
Dad answered the call to pastor a church in LR. Been here ever since.
Hope to see you soon. Maybe at NQC?

randybyrd -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/24/2007 5:06:09 PM)

Hello Paul! We won't be at NQC this yr as we are on the road that week.....gotta make a living ya know! :)
what church in Little Rock? I went to school for a couple of yrs at Heritage Christian on Stage Coach Road....many great memories there!

pauljackson -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/25/2007 7:16:25 AM)

Randy...
My Dad's church was Forest Highlands Baptist, in west LR...north of Heritage. My brother Timothy attended several years at Heritage.
My sons attended Arkansas Baptists and competed in basketball with
Heritage...Minutemen?
What years were you there?
Where did your Dad pastor?

randybyrd -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/25/2007 9:21:00 AM)

That is cool! My dad pastored Victory Baptist Church in Benton. It used to be West Side Baptist but we bought land and moved to the outskirts of town so we changed the name. We had a christian school called ARKANSAS BAPTIST SCHOOL!!!! WE also played Heritage....I only went to Heritage for my 6th and 7th grade years......in 1975 and '76....I get back there every few yrs....I went to Heritage last summer and they gave me a tour of the place.....seemed a lot bigger back in '76!! :)

I'm reminded of the story in the Bible where Jesus cast the demons into the swine (hogs) and they ran into the sea - watch out for THE TIDE!!!! [:D]

pauljackson -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/25/2007 9:11:58 PM)

I might need to ignore DeeAnn's attempt at Bible interpretation 101.
Of course everyone knows that Noah looked out the Ark-an-saw...VICTORY!!!...as the tide receeded!

Randy...I just attended the Greater Vision Concert at Victory BC, Benton.
Wow, what a concert. I'm gonna blog about it at my site a little later.
It was sponsored by the church and the school.
I don't think they call it AR Baptist anymore.
Let us know when you are within 100 miles of LR.
I would love to hear the group as well as meet you.

Hogfan...thanks for giving Randy a good welcome!

I went to Camden Christian Academy in the yearly '90s...we played Heritage Christian as well.
I have also been to your Dad's church once for a revival...many years ago.

pauljackson -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/26/2007 12:43:22 AM)

L5man...it's a small world!
Is your Mom named Becky?...sister named Amanda?
My wife is from Camden...Kathy Hollis was her name.
CHS class favorite and cheerleader.
Her Dad pastored Maul Road Missionary Baptist.
Any of that strike a chord of harmony with you?

I'm on this board looking for Arkies who love SG!
Did you know Roger personally?

L5MAN -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/26/2007 12:53:35 AM)

YES!!! Oh My Gosh! It is a small world!

My parents and my sister are still in Camden, but me and my brother, Todd, live in Texas now.
While I didn't go to Maul Road Missionary Baptist, I do know who the Hollis' are.

Did really didn't know Roger personally, however my Grandmother made a pair of booties for his daughter, Chelsie, when she was born.[:D]

pauljackson -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/26/2007 1:06:11 AM)

L5man...Your Mom and my wife are classmates...class of '72.
I had a great visit with Becky at their 35th class reunion
back in April....she told me all about her musical chidren.
(imagine that)
She was very interested in my gig with The Prophets as well
and asked lot's of questions. She is a neat lady.

Amanda has sent me some of her songs and
I have given her a little advice and offered to work with her some.
Now which one of you two sons is the Qt singer?
Would that be you?

Sorry you did not get to know Roger personally. All of us singing
Arkies and fans should be very proud to have been so well represented.

L5MAN -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/26/2007 1:17:29 AM)

Now I know who you are! Mom told me all about you after the reunion.

Yes, I am the QT singer...I sing bass for a local group, Redeemed, which I started in '02.

Amanda is VERY talented! She just needs someone to push her a little.

hogfan -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/26/2007 1:21:28 AM)

hey paul!! man i gotta tell ya...you have been a blessing to me on this board lol...literally, i look forward to getting on here hoping you've made a new post lol...it's good to know there's someone out there who not only loves SG and arkansas, but is as passionate about it as you are...in our concerts when i'm introduced, i make sure our lead says 2 things: that's i'm from russellville, ar and that i'm a diehard razorback fan...and i always take my razorback wash cloth with me as a 'sweat rag' lol...but like i said it's great to know there's someone just like me out there haha ...and to ms deeann, razorback road in fayetteville reminds of of the scripture that says "lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path" haha ...ok not really but you get my point lol :)

pauljackson -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/26/2007 1:51:01 AM)

Would that be calling the poor hogs as the Tide rolls in??? (anyway we can get a TV hookup that game at one of the booths????)

Seriously, I don't know what our team is going to do this year, I hope it will be good cause I'm a Bama fan but I'm still upset they let Mike go. Truth is there will never be another Bear and it takes more than 2-3 years to really build a football program so at some point they are going to have to let someone have time to do that.

Qtman -> RE: Calling All RAZORBACKS (more of us than you think)!!! (8/30/2007 8:26:30 AM)

Amen Dee. Paul the battle starts Saturday. We will see who has the most marbles at the end of the season. I just hope Bama is still in the game by then.

Dee you are a Bama fan. Are you by any chance from Alabama. I have a lot of Baileys in my family. Scary ain't it?
