ORIGINAL: zmanfan38 Before I was a mommy I worried about getting his or their attention since he's a big play ground for kids. However, our little girl is a *major* mommy's girl. She loves her daddy, but she doesn't let me get out of her sight. Your little girl is SO cute! Did you see mine? (click on my screen name) I suppose some of the girls my age might accuse me of ignoring them, because I spend a lot of time with little kids, too. ha.... I can understand that! But at least it's good to know that you can put up with little kids! And if you can do that, you can be a great help at times! Well, I've been a big brother for a long time now, and this is kind of an extension of that. quote:
I've become a sitter once or twice for families with boys. And we had a blast. It's almost surprising to see how much you can amaze a kid, if you just sit down and show interest in whatever toy he has, whether it be a console system to a hot wheels car! You become their friend, and they'll never forget it! I know. It's a challenge to come to their level, but they enjoy it so much it's worth it. Take, say, peek-a-boo with a 1-year-old. While we might be inclined to peek two or three times, they (or at least certain ones) like it 20+ times, and are just as surprised each time!

I'm just glad to be home. I was tired at work. Its funny though, all my daughter wanted when I got home, was to play. So we played a game on the computer, watched Dora together, and then played with her Dora toys for about an hour.... now I'm really tired. I wore her out, and she wore me out!

Guys who love kids are usually impressive with the ladies...usually. I think Matt was saying that it worked the opposite for him. But after all, in the end, I only have to get one young lady's attention, if she's the right one. That's right Daniel... of course, it had worked the opposite, but I finally got one! And that's all that mattered! I found out that many girls (i knew) like guys who are more jerks... so that they can "work on them" to get them the way they want them to be, but by doing so, ignore those who already molded that way!

And you're right, that "one" who isn't looking for a Sean Penn to rehabilitate (no thank you! ) will come along and will really appreciate your tenderness towards kids.

Yes, we enjoy that too. Being "young @ heart" and having 11 grand children, hey, they keep me young. Sunday service was fun, we did a Worship Concert, one where we lead off with Praise and Worship and swing into Southern Gospel Music. It alway interests me that when the youth is sent to "Kids Church, they want to say and hear our music. I think good SGM transends age, it is presented in a upbeat and positive way. The kids from the chuch we sang at sure seemed to enjoy it and a few got our CD afterwards too.

My daughter (age two, remember) loves to sing along with Gold City on the chorus of "Look Who Just Checked In". It surprised us when she first did it. Kids love anything that grabs their attention. Show them Gold City's "Four in the Fire", and you'll see what I mean!
