Interesting. I think of myself as a middle-aged adult trapped in a 20-something's body.

I agree with your personal assessment. [:)] I think of myself as a young-adult right at home in a young-adult body. [:D]

I'm not 100% sure I understand you--you mean that you think my assessment of myself is correct for me, not that it's correct for you?

Bassinger24 -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/6/2008 1:36:21 PM)

Welcome!

On this forum, the youngens aren't too talkative, so those of us who want to talk typically join in talking about whatever is on the geezer's minds.[:)]

youngartist -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/6/2008 3:28:47 PM)

Oops, sorry Daniel, sometimes I'm not all that clear in posting. [:D] I meant I agree with "your" personal assessment of yourself. It's not a slam, don't worry. [:D]

Welcome, Old Paths Bass Singer!

Don't worry, I'm taking it as a compliment. Thanks!

Welcome to the youngin's thread!

danielmount -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/6/2008 8:59:07 PM)

Why, thanks...but wait a minute, I've been here since the first one.[8D]

I don't know if you were talking to me but if you were than thank you for the welcome.

You're welcome, Daniel. [:)]

[:D]

And by the way, were you here since the first one?

youngartist -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/7/2008 5:46:51 PM)

Yup! L5FanLady started it as I recall. [:)]

danielmount -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/7/2008 6:10:03 PM)

Are you and I the only two old-timers still around? Josh posts sometimes, but it seems like we have mostly new faces now. (That's not a bad thing, but I do miss our old friends!)

Jumping topics entirely, I have this sneaking suspicion that neither you nor I would be particularly disappointed if somewhere over 90% of SN #1 hits were quartet songs like the one sitting atop the list right now.[:)]

Yup, we're the young old-timers still in existence. [:D] I miss the days of Noah and Josh and ourselves tearing up the boards with banter that left my sides hurting. [:D]

Your "sneaking suspicion" is correct. [:D] "What We Needed" will very likely become an all-time favorite of mine, and a big reason the Kingdom Heirs are now share favorite group status with BF&A - and that's saying something. [:D]

It's definitely one of the best songs I've heard over the past few years.

P.S. It is a true quartet song--it simply won't work as a solo. (Yes, I tried. I decided against doing it for church!)

AngelInWaiting1983 -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/8/2008 5:18:23 PM)

Hey guys! Hope y'all are having a great weekend. Have y'all heard the Kingsmen song When God Ran? Mercy's Well did that song also and is on their new album. I think MW has the better version.

youngartist -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/9/2008 8:49:36 AM)

I really, really liked the "Skywriting" - it was one of the best "surprise" albums I heard last year. That said, I don't think their version can touch the Kingsmen's after hearing it live. [:D][8D] (just messin' around with ya [;)])

Hey... I was here too! If you remember, we was keeping up with the geezers at the very beginning! But they soon got a huge following, and we lost everyone! [&o]

If I'm right, the original young folks thread brought about the Flawless Four!

Boy, I miss those times!

danielmount -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/9/2008 9:55:37 AM)

Oh, yes! I definitely remember the Flawless Four.[:D]

I like the song, but if I had my pick for favorite off the new album, it would be "Gospel Road". I listen to it all the time!

youngartist -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/9/2008 11:22:14 AM)

That's interesting because a number of the bloggers who reviewed that song didn't especially care for "Gospel Road." Just goes to show that musical taste is diverse.

I really enjoyed "The Cloud He's Coming Back On," "When God Ran," and "Road To Glory." I think it's easily the best-sounding Kingsmen album I've heard from the last 5 or 10 years.

MattPaasch -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/9/2008 12:27:46 PM)

I noticed that too.... but I guess I like the simplistic feel the song has. Plus, I love songs about heaven.

Perhaps though... it's the banjo that gets to me!

Bassinger24 -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/9/2008 12:42:57 PM)

hello all! just got back from our weekend in south carolina. Started out in florence with michael combs at francis marion college where there was a great crowd! We also had the privelge of seeing 8 souls saved in our services on sunday including a 60 year old man, a 40 year old man and 6 young people! Glory! How is every one?

youngartist -> RE: The Young Folks' SG Thread (6/9/2008 12:58:13 PM)

Praise the Lord! Doing great. [:)]
