OK. Here's what I think is going on. I think NQC made a covenant with a few select hotel establishments. NQC agrees to funnel guests to these hotels through the NQC website at a flat rate per room, per establishment. (That'd be the prices posted when you try to book a room through the NQC site.) In return, these hotels agree to inflate their prices so high, that hardly anyone will book 'directly' through the hotel. They'll have to go through NQC to get the better price. Now, notice that the NQC price is only slightly higher than 'normal' (whatever THAT is...) but still is not as astronomical as the inflated price. NQC will probably get a cut of the $$, The hotel gets a full house that week, and the NQC guests basically stay in hotels with fellow conventioneers. The non-conventioneers probably will go elsewhere, because the 'direct' prices are so high. Sounds like a gamble on the hotel & NQC's part, though. But, as a business minded person, I can see why they think this is a good idea. "We" just have to NOT book directly and NOT pay those high prices. Basically, there are 2 choices: Either go through NQC, or stay at a non-NQC sanctioned hotel! (And good luck finding one, ya'll!) Now, if you followed this post, you need to go take a nap.
