I'm a big believer in the free market, so I don't want government interference in pricing! I'll just take my business where I can get what I want at a price that I'm willing to pay. If enough of us do it that way, the hotels that are overcharging won't get the business and will have to lower their prices. That's where the demand part comes in!

Yes! BTW, we may be driving further for our hotel room next year!! Convenience only goes so far!!

You said that right!!!!

Okay...maybe I'm not on the right website or holding my jaw at the right angle or holding my breath long enough...everytime I go to the NQC website I click tickets and it tells me that the page is unavailable or files not found or something like that!
Could you please give me the website address that you bought your tickets from??? Sure this isn't Monday???

OK. Here's what I think is going on. I think NQC made a covenant with a few select hotel establishments. NQC agrees to funnel guests to these hotels through the NQC website at a flat rate per room, per establishment. (That'd be the prices posted when you try to book a room through the NQC site.) In return, these hotels agree to inflate their prices so high, that hardly anyone will book 'directly' through the hotel. They'll have to go through NQC to get the better price. Now, notice that the NQC price is only slightly higher than 'normal' (whatever THAT is...) but still is not as astronomical as the inflated price. NQC will probably get a cut of the $$, The hotel gets a full house that week, and the NQC guests basically stay in hotels with fellow conventioneers. The non-conventioneers probably will go elsewhere, because the 'direct' prices are so high. Sounds like a gamble on the hotel & NQC's part, though. But, as a business minded person, I can see why they think this is a good idea. "We" just have to NOT book directly and NOT pay those high prices. Basically, there are 2 choices: Either go through NQC, or stay at a non-NQC sanctioned hotel! (And good luck finding one, ya'll!)

Now, if you followed this post, you need to go take a nap. "Cause I'm tired after just re-reading it!

I went and tried myself and its not you or anything you or your jaw is doing wrong. Since I ordered our tickets something has gotten screwed up. We recieved our tickets and then 3 days later we recieved another set of the same tickets. Now we have 2 sets of the exact tickets. Something is screwy somewhere. You can always e-mail Clark Beasly. He is excellent at fixing problems and getting back to you quickly. You can also call and let them know the website has went loopy. Sorry about leading you wrong, I honestly thought the site was still working.

I too had sent them an email yesterday...today I get a response that the tickets could be bought on the website...I tried and again got the same message...so I copied and pasted my response and emailed it to them. Hope that helps them figure what is wrong. I'll just stand on my head while I'm trying to log into their site and see if it works!!! ~Lynn

All seats are the same price - $27.00 The 100 section is the first level of seats. 300 section is nose bleed section. 200 section is like club level seats.
The $10.00 tickets are for the Sunday evening concert in the South Wing.
They usually have two groups do a concert on Sunday evening.

I am so glad. I can tell you where our seats are, our section #is 301, our roll letter is "H" and are seats are 12-14. This year was the first time we had these and loved them. It put us at eye level with the video screen so our necks didn't get tired looking up or down. we have never been floor, or section 200 people. We actually like the balcony. Wierd, huh.

There was lots of grousing about the motel prices for next year. Clarke Beasley informed me that the Ryder Cup will be in Louisville next year the week after NQC, and some people will be coming in the week before. Therefore there may be a crunch on rooms, ie higher prices. If you go through the NQC motel assn, the prices will be about the same as this year. We have found that driving a few exits into Indiana saves tons of $. jim

At least the NQC was able to negotiate to keep their prices the same. I just need to decide which is more important, the convinence of being close or saving some $$.

Wonder where the golf course is. It seems that the hotel rates are only 'jacked' up around the Convention Center. When you get away they are running about the same. With the hotels expecting great crowds when convention time gets close and they are not booked up they will probably lower rates.

It is at Valhalla, out about 10 miles to the East(off I-64 just outside the I-265 loop) where a LOT of the NQC people normally stay for the week

They called me this morning to let me know that there was a glitch in their computer system and that the Sunday tickets are $10 not the $27 I was originally charged. All is well now!!!

We have never been to NQC. Reading all this info about motels leads to a question - does no one ever take an RV, motorhome, camper, etc. (whatever you call them out there). At Red Deer's version of quartet convention the back parking lot is full of these. Whenever we get to attend, this is what we would likely do. Just wondering!

There is a large section set aside in the parking lot behine Freedom Hall for people to park RV's. There are a great number of people that camps there. Don't know what the rates are as we don't camp.
