Today, while my wife & I were listening to the closing sermon of a weekend regional church conference, my wife received a phone call...her sister died today.
We are now waiting for word regarding the funeral arrangements.
Also, today, my mother told me that she has some bleeding. The plan is for me to call her doctor tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, that's when my wife & I have an appointment to sign the lease papers for our new apartment which is in the same building as my mother's apartment. We are scheduled to move from our house into the apartment next weekend.
Sooooooo....funeral in another part of the country...mother's medical condition and whatever it will involve...lease papers...moving...good reasons for:

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
and
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

Lord,
You mix the good with the bad. You make the rain fall and the sun shine. You alone know why things happen in this world, and when they will occur. Thus, Lord, we turn to you. You are our rock and our fortress against whatever life throws our way.
God, please watch over peaceofGod's sister. She has gone to be with you, now. Grant her eternal rest in your kingdom where you reign for all time. Give comfort and solace to her family, including peaceofGod, who has been an enduring servant of your's from what I have seen. Help them through this difficult time, and show them your love and mercy.
Lord, please be with peaceofGod's mom. I pray that nothing is seriously wrong with her. Help any doctors who examine her to make a speedy diagnosis and to treat her with care and love to aid in any healing she may require.
And Lord, please be with peaceofGod and his wife as they prepare to sign a lease and move into a new apartment. Help this moment be a good one for them, and protect them from any additional stress that this might cause them.
Lord, though we are all sinners, you granted us salvation through your own son's death on the cross at Calvary. You truly are great and merciful, and we ask these things of you with both praise for you and humility in the name of your son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
