Stop drooling, Randy. You'll have to come over and watch it with me one day. As long as you wear a napkin under your chin.

And no more movie talk!!

So... how bout that Bible, huh? Hahaha! [:D]

What's your favorite book in the Bible? And why?

jesusfreak94 -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/16/2007 9:38:14 PM)

me?

PrincessButtercup -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/16/2007 9:38:44 PM)

Oh wow.

At one point in time, I would have said 1 Thessalonians. I spent a whole year studying it in serious depth and it was very close to my heart.

But now, It's gotta be Psalms. Ive been reading in there a lot, and He keeps pointing out some cool stuff to me.

violinist_for_jesus -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/16/2007 9:40:25 PM)

I love the Psalms. But my favorite would have to be Isaiah or Revelation. The first part of Revelation chapter 21 is really wonderful.

jesusfreak94 -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/16/2007 9:42:46 PM)

Girl, I LOVE to talk about David, but wrong thread. lol

rae_of_light -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/16/2007 9:44:38 PM)

Proverbs is very special to me, and I read a chapter every day, because it was prophesied over me that I was going to use the wisdom in that book, so I'd better study it. But I think Psalms and Jeremiah are really nice too, they're so poetic and beautiful!

Silver_Surfer -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/16/2007 11:23:46 PM)

_MavericK_ -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/16/2007 11:25:24 PM)

Reality can be a bummer.

Silver_Surfer -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/16/2007 11:27:39 PM)

Did you watch the Pride and Prejudice movie with Kiera Knightly??

The end was so sweet!!!

That movie made me want to read the book. Just like LOTR did.

i cant stand kiera knightly, she makes me barf. and the new pride and predjuduce movie was horrible. it was nothing compared to the old one with colin firth.

hosea. and because it teaches so much about God's love and forgiveness.

i pretty much am your number 1 thessalonian [;)] hahaha

well for me i read the Bible mostly. other books rarely.. they just have to really get me from the start or even if they are awesome unless if someone i trust with recommends it ill give up on it.

my faves in the bible are all of NT, Job, Ecclesiastes, and the first few in OT... think thats about it. favorite maybe Job idk. dont really have a favorite. but to me Job shows best how much we should love God as humans. whereas most of NT tells you more about how to love other people

Yes but they old one with Colin Firth is WAY better! Have you seen it? COLIN FIRTH!
Okay sorry. Back to books. I've read the "series of Unfortunate Events" series lately. REALLY good. I think everyone should read them, even adults. It's really weird cuz they quote things from the Bible later on in the series. Like the orphans were drinking this tea and the author said it was "bitter as wormwood" and "sharp as a two edged sword." Really weird...and the guy in the last book is named "Ishmael". Really weird to me, cuz they are not supposed to be Christian.

ChiefWannahakaloogie -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/17/2007 12:25:19 PM)

series of unfortunate events was very good. daniel handler is one of the most creative authors i have heard of yet. i highly recommend reading those books. they are kind of silly in an un-realistic sort of way, but way creative.

Jesusfreak108 -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/17/2007 12:26:13 PM)

Totally.

That. Series. Is. AWESOME!!!!! I don't read that many new non-Christian books, but those ones are great!! They're all very sarcastic and funny, and a lot of people think I'm insane for liking them, after all, they're a bit too young for me, and not what I usually read, but I don't care!!!

rae_of_light -> RE: The book thread of doom (10/17/2007 12:50:07 PM)

Yeah, for sure!!! I liked the movie too, it was hilarious!! hehehe
Does anyone here like Victorian fantasy?(there must be a nice neat term for this genre, but I don't know it!) I loved Kenneth Oppel's books Airborne and Skybreaker, they were cool!!
