How long do you guys say you can keep breastmilk stored in the fridge? I've read 3 days, 6 days, and 8 days... I don't really know, since I haven't found anything that said the same as something else I've read.

Judah has seemed 'flushed' since yesterday - maybe a rash, though I am not sure. His face and back seem to be a bit red.
I wouldn't be overly concerned about that except he had two red spots on his wrist/arm yesterday, and one of them now looks different - it has 'something else' in the center of it.
I immediately think of chicken pox, but Paul said it could just be a bug bite...
*sigh*
I tried getting a picture of it to show all the expert mommies, but it didn't turn out too well. HERE is the picture of the red spots today. The top one is the one that has changed.
What do y'all think?

No, it's a cut on my finger. I am not sure what I cut it on, the cut kind of just appeared! I don't remember cutting myself. Probably a paper cut.

Nathy was 4 weeks old yesterday, he is such a good boy, he sleeps about 4-5 hours straight at night between feeds for me!! WOO HOO

I agree that it is only a bug bit. chickenpox get more fluid filled..and once you see one...you can't mistake it for anything else...
It looks like he may have scratched the top off of it...probably with his little baby nails...those things are so sharp...no matter how short you keep them!

Tell me about it. Nathan grabs onto my breast during nursing, and my right breast is looking a little scary.
But at nearly 7 months we're back to exclusive nursing for a little bit. He's been rejecting solid foods for a few days, even foods he normally loves. Seems he has a bit of the stomach bug and mommy has the puke-smelling shirts to prove it.
Our pediatrician says to lay off solids and just nurse for a while, as long as he can keep breast milk down. Poor fellow - and here we thought at first he was simply having a food intolerance.

Reagan does this too. Sometimes when I pick her up, and we're walking, she grab a nipple like she is holding on  Especially at this point in the pregnancy where I seem to have headlights most of the time.

Sideways, I've heard that too. Not too sure of the accuracy, but I do know of several places where it's not uncommon to nurse to age 5. The reason that statistic sounds off is it says average, which mean that there have to be a lot of places who nurse past that age.

I had heard that about the world average. I think that a big part of that average is in third world countries where nursing is a major form of nutrition until that age. I think early weaning is only most common in the U.S.

Oh, indeed, I believe that many other countries wean later then we do. I know the World Health Organization recommends BFing until age 2. But an average age of weaning being four? That must mean that there's a whole lot of children still BFing at age 5, 6 and 7.
When you and the child can stand next to each other and be able to BF - I think it's time to put the breasts away.

In the US, I agree. But in third world countries where nutrition and food(and clean water) are lacking I can totally understand why they would continue to breastfeed to those ages. I think it weirds us out because we're used to 12 months being the "norm" for weaning.

I don't know how they come up with that statistic. But considering only about 10% of Americans & Candians nurse past 4 weeks, there would need to be TONS of kis nursing to 6 and 7 to make that average.
This says the 4 years isn't true.
LLL puts average weaning between 2 and 4 here.
But there were countless websites I found on a google search repeating the 4 year number. None said exactly how they came up with that, other than 'studies have shown....'
