Poor family. LOL........... funny now. Not so then, I'm sure.

I took my more strident feelings to my blog.

Ryanne what formula are you using for Gabby?

With my ds#2, we had to use a soy based formula due to allergies. Yeah..... I heard alot about the trouble we would not have had if I'd only bf'd. It just wasn't an option with an 18 month old and a newborn, going through divorce and working 40-42 hours weekly.

That, imo, is painting with a broad brush and sounds very close to bashing posters on this forum...

For the record I pumped for 7 months and started supplementing with formula with Hannah at 5 months...before she went to all formula.

Jael has been exclusively bf since she was born and she just turned a year.

If a person is offended by the talk in the breastfeeding support thread then one shouldn't go in there.

We are using Enfamil Lipil w/Iron and we're going to re-introduce Parent's Choice w/ Lipil sometime this week. We originally took her off of it because she has a soy allergy and it contains Soy lecithin but her allergist wants to see if that is really what she was reacting to or if it was an environmental allergy that changed at the same time.

*sigh*

I am not bashing. I am merely saying that a majority of women in my former local congregation in San Antonio shared the viewpoint prevalent in some threads on this board.

Can you not see how that would be uncomfortable to a young woman struggling as a new mother?

I have tried to back off. I really want to stop the antagonisation of each viewpoint/preference/conviction.

Can you help me out with that?

Actually, since milk protein passes through your breastmilk he(you have two sons, right?) would have still had the same allergy you would have just had to eliminate it all from your diet.

As I said to you in pm and on this earlier...(removed posts)

I highly respect many women on this board that do not agree with some of my viewpoints. I highly respect their right to feel/believe and be convicted of the holy spirit accordingly.

I simply ask the same respect.

I am not offended by breast feeding support. I am offended by the subtle bashing of non-bfers that is felt and NOT imagined by some of the women posting in this thread me, included.

I have toned down my rhetoric. May I please have the same courtesy?

Thank you.

ok...the point is that that thread is for discussions regarding bfing, and everything surrounding it. This thread is for discussions regarding bottle feeding/formula feeding and everything surrounding it. So how about we just keep those two things in check and all go back to this being a SUPPORT thread like it was for a long time. I don't know what started it off on this tragic road again, but let's just get back to what Manda originally intended...a place to discuss formula without it being in a bad light...and without people hurting others because of something said in another thread that is for discussing the SUPPORT of that thread. Many on here support bfing IN THAT THREAD....and that's why we have it.

Ryanne...that is great about Gabby...I hope she takes well to it.

How would those in that thread know what's here unless they came to this thread? I've seen some bad stuff said about non-bf'ing women (in general), but then if someone says anything about it, people say something about it. I don't think it's bashing (not at that point), but if one is offended by something said here, why not just stop reading THIS thread? If something offends you here, don't click on it. A mod will take care of it if something is going on that is wrong...or it will be reported I'm sure.

I don't see why it doesn't work both ways. Not every thread is for everyone. It's not so cool to see a support thread get messed up like that.

I have a question though. My mom says that when I was a baby (not a newborn), that I used to sit and drink watermelon juice out of the rhine. I used to drink the milk too, but I guess if someone had watermelon I just got it when they were done. Do any of you do that?

No, I didn't choke on seeds. After a while they just started bottling it for me. Lol.

it does work both ways, so let's get back to the real subject...SUPPORT of BOTTLE FEEDING

I'm bowing out. I do not wish to be inflammatory.

I have re-stated the OP in effort to remain on topic, and even engaged in the topic at hand: formula.

This thread is needed........ but for now my presence here isn't.

Be blessed.

I guess the issue arises because some us (including me) both breastfeed AND nurse, so we seek out advice and support in both of these threads. It becomes disheartening to see posters in either thread being bashed.

Yup, it's the generic. It's "chemically" the same as Similac except about half the price.

You gotta love generics! Kenna Rose gets Target brand most of the time. Formula would BREAK us if we had to get the name brands.

yup...me too Kat. There are times that I have bf exclusively...and I use that knowledge in the other thread in support of bfing. There are also other times when we used both, or just formula...and I use that knowledge in this thread in support of bottle feeding. People go into each one to get support, not to down another decision. If someone posts in here that they want to bf then I would send them over to the other thread...cause that's what it's there for.

Yes...when we started supplementing with Hannah she was going through like a can a week! It was over $100 a month...it was shocking to us! And I always felt so bad when she didn't finish a bottle or I made too much for her...because it invariably went down the sink!

They are all the same thing, all the generics are made by the same manufacture and Walmart's is a wee bit cheaper.

Levi goes through a can of week too. Eek! And I HATE it when he doesn't drink all I mix up...it kills me to dump it. lol--and that's using the generic.
Ryanne, I thought Parent's Choice was most similar to Enfamil. The comparison chart on the back of the can looks that way. Levi didn't seem to do so good on Similac, but he's doing great on PC.

For me the formula was worth every penny for the relief and peace of mind that it brought.

Well, going by the ingredients and texture of the powder it is most similar to Similac... I think anyway

Oh, if you call the manufacture number on the back of the PC formula can they will send you coupons!
