Kathryn- lack of sleep and all those emotions is going to have some affect on your emotionally and mentally. Try not to be so down on yourself about how you are feeling, because it is normal. I remember with Nath I was soooooo scared I would get depression again, but I really had to stop thinking like that and just enjoy him, and Grace and also use my brain to put things into place to help me cope. So I asked for help if I needed it, I tried to nap whenever he did. I cooked only a few times each week, we had leftovers alot. All that type of thing.

I will be praying for you!!

RepentanceIsRequired -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/3/2008 12:51:09 AM)

Kathryn, I agree with Nicole. It is normal to feel anxious with a second baby. I had different feelings with Mary. I was sad a lot and all I could do was cry. Ask for help, especially from your husband. I'm sure he is busy with the church, but a husband should never be too busy for his wife and kids. (I'm sure he is a great help, just thought I'd make that comment anyway). I never really needed Ryan to DO anything for me. What I needed him for was to simply hold me during those times when the flood of emotions hit me. I couldn't control them at all, and it would hit me at any time during the day.

How long did you ladies bleed after your baby? I was 3 weeks pp on saturday and I'm still wearing a pad. I mean I could wear a pad all day and barely fill it, but still. I can't remember how long I bled with Nadia. I do remember it was on again, off again for a few weeks.

Brandy -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/20/2008 10:49:26 AM)

I wanna say atleast 3 weeks of atleast panty liner. My heavy was over within the first week.

And that's with my first.

I would assume that since you have had Nadia, you may bleed longer with subsequent deliveries? Or each person could be different.

Pretty much the same here, I wore a pantyliner for several weeks, mainly to "just be sure". I'd say I had a total of 8-12 weeks of some sort of bleeding. Not real sure though, I *think* I might have had a period a few weeks ago but only lasted about a day so I have no idea whats going on with me. But I dont know if I'd consider ANYTHING with my pregnancy/delivery/post partum "normal."

PrincessDonna -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/20/2008 4:57:16 PM)

With Esther, I was 3.5 weeks...2 weeks with super, long pads, 1 week with regular, and a few days with pantyliners.

Flintejae -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/21/2008 6:57:57 PM)

4 weeks, i think.

Aunt Flow just came to town for a 'real' visit. It's been 1 year and 3 months since her last I'm praying her visit isn't evil. [8|]

EmilyAnn -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/21/2008 7:35:38 PM)

AF came to visit me last night too. [:'(] I have heard that the first one after having a baby is really horrible. I hope it's not too bad.

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/21/2008 9:35:05 PM)

I just had my first AF last month. My first in over 3 years. It wasn't bad. Yucky of course..I really think I'd forgotten just how gross it is. But not too heavy and not nearly as painful as it had been in the past. Just had my second about 2 weeks ago, it was even easier!
I hope you both have "good ones" LOL

HomeSpunLady -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/21/2008 10:23:13 PM)

I'd love to have my cycles start again. I don't care how bad they are. Once my cycles started again after Nadia I started to feel better. But I won't stop bfing to get it to start. Baby is already sleeping 5 hours at night, so I might get my wish soon.

Jael was like that when we brought her home from the hospital. It was such a blessing since I had prepared myself for my pp to be just like it was with Hannah...no sleep and very very tired days and nights. It wasn't anything like that. [:)]

Flintejae -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/22/2008 12:43:11 AM)

It feels weird to have AW. I mean I 'know' what it feels like, but yet it feels so different to experience it. That probably sounds weird. It feels as weird as it sounds. LOL

BeeLuvsAva -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/23/2008 8:24:21 PM)

I was wondering what the signs for PPD is, I just had my daughter just over a week ago, I feel like I just don't think i can handle being a mother, defiantly a single mother! I just think she deserves so much more! to actually have two parents! I am sorry for just being like this, but I am truly struggling.

BlessedMamaofmany -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/23/2008 9:02:06 PM)

Hiya!
Welcome to the forums. It is totally normal to be afraid and overwhelmed at the prospect of being someone's mom!! It's a huge life change...not to mention the hormonal changes going on in your body.
I sent you a private message...
Are you willing to share a bit more?
Sandy
ps. congrats on your little one. No matter how she got here, she is a blessing from the Lord! He gave her to you for His glory and for a purpose.

Sideways -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/24/2008 7:56:17 AM)

Bees, I saw your post over in Parenting. I'm so sorry about what happened with your husband. I can't imagine how scared you must be having to face all of this by yourself and working on top of it.

Yes, you are at high risk for PPD, but we here can't really tell if you have it. Do you have family you trust? A church home? Good friends who can help and support you? Please keep in contact with your doctors about whatever you might be feeling, and let us know a bit more about you, too!

God Bless

HomeSpunLady -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (10/24/2008 3:22:43 PM)

Bees, going through PPD right now myself. I had a baby 4 weeks ago and have it, had it with my older daughter too. Don't be afraid to get help. Please PM me if you want to talk. It's not easy, but there is help.

HomeSpunLady -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (11/4/2008 9:33:26 AM)

How long till the hair loss stops? I'm getting clods out, it's nasty.

Mrs.Wifey -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (11/4/2008 9:39:47 AM)

Mine took awhile, probably 6 weeks. And I lost my underarm and pubic hair[8|] Everything started growing back in about 6 months ago, now I have crazy "baby" hairs sticking up all over the place.

purejoy -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (11/4/2008 9:44:22 AM)

I haven't had the hair loss... I just realized the other day that didn't happen. Although I don't have to shave as often, which is nice!
I have my 6 week appointment today. I still have lochia, which stinks. And about a week ago it turned back to bright red and more of it. Which also stunk. But the last couple days have gotten a little better. I'm ready for that to be done!
Do they do a pelvic exam at the 6 week appointment? I'm seriously dreading that and will probably take Tylenol before I go...

Mrs.Wifey -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (11/4/2008 9:45:07 AM)

Purejoy, my hair loss didn't start until Gabby was almost 4 months old.

Yes, with pap smear.

But then you don't have to go again for another year! Get it all done at once.

I had to laugh because they did my pap smear and I just got the results back yesterday, along with a reminder to schedule my appointment for a year from now. Except I won't have a cervix then. Which means I have had my last pap smear ever. WOOHOO![:D]

HomeSpunLady -> RE: Post Pardum Talk...(cont'd) (11/4/2008 10:57:32 AM)

Never thought of that Donna, hey, isn't that nice!!

Ryanne, you lost your underarm and pubic hair? I've never heard that!! It might be nice to loose the underarm hair.

Do I really need to get a pap smear if I had one last year and all of mine have been ok and I'm only with one man?
