I'm actually feeling a little better today so I hope that means I'm fighting off whatever I'm fighting. I ran a slow 2 miles today. If I feel better tomorrow, I will run 3 miles - otherwise I'll take it easy again.

Phew! Just finished my workout. I kept waffling on how much I was going to do today because I hadn't been feeling all that great earlier in the week. I bundled up in my jacket and ear cover, stepped outside and immediately turned around, took off my jacket, took off my ear cover and returned to the beautiful, sunshiny day. I ran 3 miles and noticed a lot of others enjoying the outdoors as well. What a perfect day for a run!

Anyway, finished that up, lifted weights and now I'm ready to tackle my "chores" and projects around the house.

Glad to hear that you aren't sick! I wish I could run outside but it's raining. I need to get a waterproof jacket. Does anyone know of good ones, not too bulky but lightweight?

I'm strange. We hardly get any rain here, so when it rains, I actually like getting wet... I love rain (as long as it doesn't rain everyday that is!)....

Woohoo! The rain stopped and it's sunny with blue skies. All of this morning and until a short while ago it was dark and cloudy and I thought it would be raining all day. Now I can go for a run. Oh, I agree running in the rain is wonderful, but only if it's like 80 degrees out, then it feels refreshing.

I don't run in the rain, so sorry! I went to the running store today and they still had the winter stuff out. I want a spring jacket with a pocket for my ipod. A lot of the nike jackets have built in mp3 pockets.

3 miles today! It was a hard run because my body is rebelling against daylight savings, but I finished so that made me happy!

I also signed up for the St Patrick's Day Foot Race - 5K - on Saturday. This time, I should be able to do much better than the race in December since I am now running 3 miles - 3 times/week.

Then, April 5th, my church is doing a fundraiser run for a kids camp we do (Royal Family Kids Camp - for foster kids). The choices are the 1 mile or the 5 mile. The one mile seems to short... The five mile.... well, I'm not sure I'm there yet but I guess I'll give it a go!

My dad was visiting me from thursday to saturday, so we took a run together on thursday....it's so depressing that he's in a better shape than I am! He's 60!!!!! So there's my new motivator
I took the same run yesterday and I think I'm ready to prolong it with half a mile.

My dad and I bought matching running outfits except for colours(good thing we only run together once a month), they were 50% off for tights and jackets - well everything in the store were 50% off so I had to control myself and only get what I needed!

I have to run in the rain, because it almost always rain where I live, but today the sun is shining

I can't decide whether I should do some yoga here at home tonight or go to the gym for a bodytoning class.....I'm going swimming tomorrow so no running until thursday.

Isn't it funny what motivates us. Not too long after I started running, I was watching a TV show and there was a swat officer who had recently had back surgery - and hadn't run in 4 months. In order to get back on the swat team, he had to pass some physical testing - which included a 1.5 mile run. I was only running one mile at the time but his time for the mile and a half was only slightly slower than my time for the mile! The next morning, I cut about 30 seconds off my time!

Anyone know anything about ChiRunning? There's a lot of eastern medicine stuff involved, but I have perused the book and I think it can be removed from the technique. It's basically about learning to run with proper posture and in a relaxed manner. I'm interested in it because pretty soon I should get cleared to run again and I'd like to do it injury-free.

I've never heard of it - but the concept sounds similar to what I know from my track days (a loooong time ago ), I was a sprinter and we were taught to stay loose and not add "extra" motions to our running (such as wagging your head back and forth which uses up energy that you want focused on the running so you can go faster). You also needed to have proper form (posture). It was good stuff!

I also heard it's not good to run tense. You know, don't tense your shoulders, clench your jaw, and make sure your wrists are loose. It uses less energy running.

Does everyone remember how on Saturday around the country weather storms were crazy everywhere? Lots of snow in midwest, thunderstorms and windy and rainy south and up the east coast? I don't know why I did this, but I went running that Saturday. It was so rainy here, but then around 3pm the sun appeared and it was blue skies (no joke) when the whole day it was dark clouds and so much rain! Well, I decided to take advantage and go while it was dry and nice out, but it was so windy. I didn't think the wind would be bad so I went anyway. Wow, big mistake, I felt like I was being pummeled and some times I couldn't run straight! Plus, dark clouds rolled in within 10 minutes of my run it was eerie how it changed so fast. I found out later that we had 70 mph wind gusts that day I went running. Talk about crazy! What I do to get in a run!

Anyways, I went running tonight and I felt good the first half, I think I ran too fast in the beginning because toward the end I was so tired out.

Wow! You must have gotten a great workout in those kind of winds!

I actually got a personal best this morning in my 2 mile. It was a little breezy - but not that bad!

I know! It wasn't as bad as I thought, only when the gusts blew against me.LOL. Although I ran a bit slower because of that wind wall

It was breezy today too. I had to stop and walk a little at the end, then ran again because I thought it was warm enough to not wear a knit hat to keep my ears warm. I just wore a visor and my ears ached so bad from the wind blowing against them that I had to stop and walk for a bit to let the ache lessen. I'm amazed at how painful it can be to have cold, aching ears. Really distracted me from the running.

I HATE achy ears! That's why I always wear a hat when it's even the least bit chilly. Some pains are just pure misery - and that is one of those pains!

I hate wearing hats. Although I started wearing my dri fit hat for running and now I am used to it. I bought a winter hat but I haven't used it, I figured if it was that cold I'd stay in. LOL.

I wouldn't be able to run pretty much all winter if I didn't. I have a hat with the geeky ear flaps (that are so wonderful for keeping those ears toasty) for the really cold days and a wrap deal that just goes around your ears for days that are just chilly. Either way, I want my ears toasty!

I almost ordered the hat from nike that had little speakers built into it so you could listen to your ipod and keep your ears covered.
Guess I'll go to the gym tomorrow, hate running in puddles. Also need to sign up for the running club since I can now run after work due to the time change.

It was an awful feeling. There I was walking with my hands over my ears to try to warm 'em up. I probably looked funny, but they ached big time.

You know, I'd rather look geeky but warm instead of cold and miserable so wear that hat with geeky ear flaps with pride!

I took a bodytoning-class yesterday and today I'm so sore, that I can barely walk It must be some very different muscles getting all the workout!!

I want to run tomorrow, but I'm afraid I might pull a muscle or something

Do you think it matters or do I just have to warm up??

I always begin with mittens and hat, but I eventually get so hot, I have to take it off and run with everything in my hand (no pockets) so I have decided it's spring and not necessary anymore

Just got back from a short 30 min run. Very cold and windy. Brrr.. I wore my hat too

I'd take the day off tomorrow but if you run you'll need to warm up pretty good.

Exactly!

babymac - I find that a gentle run or exercise actually helps loosen up my sore muscles and gets me over the soreness faster. The key is gentle! Take you time, warm up well and don't push it. After your run, make sure you do a really good cool down and good stretches. Again, don't push it too hard or stretch too hard.

Miss Giggles - glad you wore your hat!

I ran 3 miles today. The next 2 days, I'm going to take it easier so I am ready for the 5K race on Saturday.

I think spring is here to stay. It's been getting warmer every day. Today is supposed to be in the mid to upper 60s. I get to wear shorts and a tee to run...yah!!!

Only in the 50s here. Almost there!

If you can believe, I fell on the ice at 6:30 in the morning yesterday. We had freezing rain overnight. So I am not sure if I am running today. Still a little sore. I will be so happy to run in shorts, or even my track pants instead of those winter tights!
