It's supposed to get up to around 60 next week. The mornings will still be chilly but spring is coming...

I skipped my workout today. I was so tired this morning I just couldn't drag myself out of bed. I finally decided I needed to sleep more than I needed to run.

I had a dream last night that I went running and was pain free! I think I'm becoming delirious from lack of running...

You're almost there though.

Might run later. But I think it's too warm for the tights so I guess I'll find out if it the pants I bought will be warm enough.

It would be so much easier to just throw on a t shirt and shorts!

I'm actually really sad that it's getting warm here now because I so enjoyed running in the cold and snow...I wasted all the good freezing weather because of an injury. I never even got to try out my YakTrax...

I'd rather it be on the cool side myself. I hate the heat.... You just feel like you're going to wilt... Or drown in your own sweat....

I finished the 5K St Patrick's Day Foot Race and beat my goal and personal best. I actually didn't catch my exact time because I was dying at the end, but it was somewhere around 26:50something. My uncle ended up getting 3rd place for the entire 5K racers with a time of 19:02. There is a reason I don't run with him.... I think I would have passed out... or thrown up.... or something....

Good job. I am eating lunch and then going out, some people got the bikes and motorcycles out. Yeay spring. Except there will actually be people on my bike path now. Oh well.

I didn't end up going the other day

I went to the gym tonight, wow it was crowded. It is always like that in march, people try to get in shape for summer or something. The silly fitness magazines put out that its time to lose weight for the bikini and everybody runs to the gym for a week or two

Yeah, there have been a few more runners on the trails around here! I ran 2.5 miles today. I was dying. I don't know if I'm still tired from Saturday's race or what...

The biking commuters all rode their bikes to work. I was still lazy and drove my car to the subway a few blocks down the road

They just posted the St Paddy's day race results. My official time for the 5K was 26:52. I tied for 20th place among all women and 9th for my age group (30-39).

Of course, this week I am totally dragging so I don't know how my next race will go! It's only in a few weeks!

Which foot should I cater to? - 3/21/2008 8:59:09 AM

I have a question. I find that one of my feet is like a half size bigger than the other. This has never been a big deal until recently it seems like maybe my feet/foot (?) has grown, making the one shoe feel too small. Which foot should I cater to??? If I go up a shoe size, will the other shoe be too big...Which do you guys think would be worse...too big or too small??

Anybody else have this issue??

Thanks!

I think you're supposed to consider the larger foot. Of course, running shoes are already supposed to be a half size larger than your regular size.

Are you sure your foot is larger and not just swollen?

Sadly, yes, I am sure it is actually larger because last summer I tried on some sandals and only tried them on the one (smaller) foot; when I got home and put them on, my heel was hanging off the other one! It's almost like the one keeps growing and the other just stays the same. Pretty soon I fear my left foot will be longer than my legs!!

Well. That's bothersome. I guess you're going to have to get fit with the larger foot...maybe more socks on the other?

I would fit for the larger foot as well and go to a good shoe place to see about inserts (good ones) that you can put in the other shoe so it's not too loose.

Ran 2.5 miles today. This week has been so hard. I don't know if I'm fighting something or what but everything feels twice as hard. I'm still getting out there but just taking it a little easier.

I went to the gym since I don't like running in puddles but I forgot my running shoes so I did the elliptical and the exercise bike

They are open tomorrow so I might go in the morning.

I've upped my walking this week in preparation for running. (Please let me run next week, please let me run next week...) I'm STILL doing my PT and I've been doing extra strength training and cycling.

Since it was warm today I wrestled my bike out of the apartment and went for a ride. I need to get a longer seat post, I guess. This bike was given to me and fitted for the previous owner, but after looking at the seat post adjustment, it doesn't look like it can be safely made any taller. I have long legs for kind of a short person.

Maybe you could pretend it's a stunt bike - those are really short!

Hope you get the OK to start running again! When will you hear?

If I was closer I'd probably buy it off you. I need a bike for someone with short legs

I need a bike with tires that aren't flat! I did buy new tubes though... and one of these days I'll actually put them on...

My doctor appointment is Wednesday afternoon. I'm actually kind of nervous. What if the problem isn't fixed? What if I start running again and have more pain? Everyone pray!

The bike I have is really nice, and was really expensive, but it definitely needs to be adjusted for me. I think I'll take it over to the bike shop in a couple of weekends when I have time. I like my seat to point slightly up and this one is so tight I can't even adjust that! I swear it's like when you get new tires or a flat fixed and they use the pneumatic thingy to tighten the bolts.

Could it be from the race you just ran? Oh, congrats on the time! You must be proud!

I went running this past Saturday and Sunday. I hadn't gone running for a week, so I was a bit apprehensive, I thought I would be tired and dragging too but I had so much energy it felt great (even though it got chilly this weekend). I still did my weights throughout the week so I think that helped.

Thanks! I was very happy - I was hoping to run it in around 28-29 minutes so I was thrilled to see the time on the board as I approached the finish line! And sadly the wiped out feeling is not from the race. I feel pretty icky: a little queasy, head weighs a ton, totally wiped out, irritated throat. I talked with a friend this morning and her daughter has identical symptoms right now. I HATE being sick...

Anyway, yesterday was my normal day off and today I took off as well. I guess I'll just take it a little easy this week and exercise as I feel up to it so that I hopefully kick this thing fast... Did I mention how much I hate being sick?
