Welcome alias007! Nice to meet you! Right now I'm running exclusively on a track, either asphalt or rubberized, but I'm probably going to branch out and do some runs in a nearby cemetery (asphalt again). I need to get used to not going in circles, because the 5K I'm training for is on a main thoroughfare in our city. As for my shoes, they're a new pair of New Balance 858's and I've only had them for a bit over a month, so they're really low-mileage . . . Good grief! It sounds like I'm talking about a used car! Anyway, my shoes only have about 25-30 miles on them. As for yesterday's run - it dodn't happen. My f-i-l's appointment lasted longer than expected, so we didn't get back home until almost noon. Mom was getting her hair fixed at 1:00, so I just grabbed a quick lunch and headed back to get her. After that, I took her to the doctor. Just before she came out, the doctor asked to speak to me. He told me that, due to the excessive amount of fluid in Mom's legs from her congestive heart failure, he felt it best that she be admitted to the hospital to get it drained. So I got her home to get some clothes packed, then took my wife and her Dad out for his physical therapy, then went back to Mom's and ferried her to the hospital. I waited as long as I could with her, then left to go retrieve Mary and Gene. Mom told me not to try and come back last night, and to just try and relax. And by the time all of this was done, it was far too late for me to go and do any running. I just pray that tomorrow isn't a washout since they're calling for the chance of a thunderstorm in the area, because I really need the stress relief, not to mention the mileage. Duane
