Who was with the Anchormen when the song "Giver Of Life" was recorded? What project was this on and when was it recorded?
I've seen a video of them singing it on GMTN once. Steve Ladd and Jeff Chapman ((??)The bass singer did the song introduction, whomever it was) are the only ones that I could identify from seeing the video clip.

The song "Giver Of Life" came from their Anticipation project. I really don't know who was on the video you saw but I would assume the lineup would have been Steve Ladd - tenor, Phillip Hughes - lead, Ricky Wilhide - baritone, and Jeff Chapman - bass.

I've known Tim Bullins for quite some time and he will do what he feels the Lord leads with the Anchormen. With the departure of the entire group back earlier, he had the Anchormen back on the road almost immediately never missing a beat. Bro. Tim will keep the group going with great songs whether it be a trio or a quartet. I know most of us like the harmony of quartet singing but there are also great trios out there.

Long live the ANCHORMEN.

Hey guys, this is Robbie Norwood from SC, with The Anchormen, thanks for all the wonderful details about the past Anchormen. I myself didn't know the names of everyone who had come through the group. Thanks for the compliment DB Murray!! There are a couple lead singers I don't recall anyone listing. Corey Wilson, he was on "Unsinkable" then Dwayne Copage was on the "Nothing Less Than All" project Not sure of the spelling but he was before Jason Funderburk.

Joe Lane (might have been there twice)

I'm pretty sure Joe was with them twice. Once in the early 90s and came back for awhile in the mid 90s. I'll should see him tomorrow night. If I remember, I'll ask him.

robertyork -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (2/29/2008 9:44:12 AM)

Brian Elliott is returning to the Anchormen. A great young guy from Georgia and an excellent pianist. His talents will surely improve the Anchormen. Know Tim and the Anchormen are glad to have him back. He previously played for them for six years before going to Palmetto State.

augustaranger -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (2/29/2008 1:42:32 PM)

That is great news. Did they ever hire a bass singer?

BTW, Check out the old Anchormen videos on Youtube.

I think I saw where they had hired a bass singer, but I don't remember who he was.

sgpianoman -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (2/29/2008 4:46:52 PM)

I'll second the motion that they hired a bass singer. haha. I did not get to personally see them a week or 2 ago when they were in my area, but a friend told me that they had just hired a new bass singer.....and brian elliot was back

augustaranger -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (3/1/2008 8:37:51 PM)

What part does Brian Elliott sing?

armydude -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (3/1/2008 8:40:13 PM)

He's the piano player. He went to the Palmetto State Quartet, but now he's back.

augustaranger -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (3/2/2008 8:00:22 PM)

So who is the new bass singer?

dbmurray -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (3/3/2008 12:07:49 AM)

I believe Dwayne's last name is spelled Coppedge. http://sogospelnews.com/index/news/comments/dwayne-coppedge-joins-the-anchormen/

Their bass singer at NQC 2007 was Jon Hall. I haven't heard who replaced him yet. His photo is still on their website...in fact, I don't think they have Robbie's photo on their website yet either.

augustaranger -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (4/18/2008 10:40:36 AM)

The Anchormen have new baritone and bass singers. I think the baritone singer's name is Lance. The new bass singer is a friendly young man from Lubbock TX named Paul. Brian Elliott is the best thing to happen to this quartet in a while. Without a doubt, he is among the very best piano players in SGM today. I believe the Anchormen are somewhat back on track. Their song selection was, in my opinion, very, very poor, actually terrible. Too much of the country and contemporary sound. I missed the first 10 minutes of the concert, but it appears that they did not sing any of the older sg classics that most concert goers want to hear. Let's face it, the audience is mainly an older crowd that would appreciate hearing some of the older material, especially from a group of largely unknown singers with no "history" of their own.

MsJudy -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (4/21/2008 9:54:14 PM)

Somewhat back on track??? All in the "eye of the beholder."
I just found out Karl had gotten married, and I've known him since he was about 15/16......

augustaranger -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (4/22/2008 3:49:05 PM)

Karl did say that he gotten married recently. Best wishes to Karl and his bride.

It would be nice if the Anchormen website was updated...

MsJudy -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (4/22/2008 5:31:48 PM)

No comment on da marriage.

Actually, I know Karl's wife. She is actually a really sweet person. I really enjoyed getting to talk to her the last time I went to a concert. We have found that we have a common interest - Sign Language! We had a blast!

MsJudy -> RE: What's Up With The Anchormen ??? (4/22/2008 10:53:19 PM)

Isn't she about 40-45 y/o Lissa? I'm glad Karl found someone............

I can not imagine anyone saying that this group has a country or a contemporary sound. I have been to see many professional groups and
I must say that this group is as southern gospel as it gets!! I love their songs especially "Walk by Faith".

Does it really matter??

I have not heard this group in awhile but they have been in my area 2x lately and I went to hear them both times. I have to say that I was impressed. They are very good. Their new bass singer may be new to the industry but I think he will be around for a long time because he is really good. Also, their new baritone singer, Lance, has an excellent voice. I understand that he filled in for Eric Dove when he had to be off of the road for a while. I think this is the best line-up that they have had in awhile. I am also glad to see that Bryan is back he is a great pianist but he is only one part of a very good quartet. I plan to go hear them again as soon as they are back in my area. [:D][:D][:D]
