They never did explain how Ben ended up in Tunisia in the opening scene, but I believe that's where Charlotte found the polar bear remains? And somehow time travel was involved because he wasn't sure what day and year it was.

Yes, that's where the polar bear remains were. I was thinking that explains more how the polar bear (or his skeleton) got to Tunisia. Apparently this was not Ben's first trip there. I'm guessing time travel was involved.

I know! That's what I love about Lost -- such a mix of genres -- fantasy, comedy, drama, romance, thriller, horror movie -- and even a little bit of action every now and then.

Ben is one weasely character. He puts on an innocent guise, but ... man! His killing those two men so swiftly really shows he's a very savvy bad guy!

I am intrigued to know what "the rules" are and who set them and what the context is -- a competition? a game? a task?

Me too!

And the 2jsmom's theory of Widmore being Ben's constant ... hmmm ... makes a lot of sense (in the Lost world).

... Who were the people that got shot by the camaflouge fatigue guys? It looked like a man and a woman came out of that house, and then Rose came out after her when Sawyer yelled at her to get back inside.

I think they were just other passengers of flight 815. Occasionally extras will pop up like that, because the number of people who survived is larger than the number of those actually in the cast.

Going back to my Chicken Little question. I was just wondering why Sawyer quoted Chicken Little - the movie did not come out until 2005 so there was no way Sawyer was talking about the movie, unless the writer missed it or unless there's another Chicken Little that I did not know.

Which came first the movie or the book ?

It was just Sawyer being Sawyer. He has a name for everybody.

I don't remember Sawyer's calling Hurley Chicken Little but I'm sure he was just referring ti the old children's "the sky is falling" tale. I think it would have been his way of saying what another would have by saying "scaredy cat."

The movie Chicken Little didn't even occur to me.

As far as I can tell the original Chicken Little was published as far back as 1894.

Rose & Bernard are on the beach unless I missed something.

Yes, he cracks me up. Even in the high drama of deciding who Hurley would go with, he thought of a description, "You touch one hair on his curly head ... ." Cracked me up![:D]

When the house exploded with Claire in it, I really thought that was when they were going to kill her off so Aaron would end up with Kate.

Yes, I thought the same thing.

I think Ben was trying to fake out the guy who threatened to kill Alex, thinking that if that guy thought Alex wasn't valuable to Ben then it wouldn't be worth it to kill her.

I did too!

So Locke is tied to the island, but Hurley is the one to find the cabin.

floydette -> RE: Lost Season 4 (4/26/2008 8:20:37 AM)

So, seeings that the polar bear remains were in Tunisia, and that is where Ben ended up - could we suppose that part of the time travel is actually a worm hole? That one always brings you to Tunisia?

At first we thought Ben was referring to Jacob "changing the rules" until he accused Widmore of doing so. So, were their rules, or was that just a phrase that Ben used... you know, like when something just got deeper than what you'd expected...

Ben = Neo from the Matrix
And what does this mean in English?

He is "the one" -- he will show everyone else how to live in this world. He is the one who understands the power of the island, and can use that to his advantage.

Thanks. I've never seen The Matrix. Yeah, he definitely understands the Islane. Widmore does, too. It looks like this is a personal thing between those two with everybody else as pawns. It's Ben's mind vs. Widmore's might & money.

I think the rules were an unspoken agreement that family was exempt from this "war". Ben may have actually sealed Alex's fate when he denied she was his daughter. If family is exempt, then denying she's family opened her up as a target. Wow! Did I really just come up with that??!! [8D]

The two people who got shot were like the guys in the red shirts on Star Trek, targets.

Wow! That's probably right! That totally makes sense.

I think he is referring to some definite "rules." I don't think it was just an expression.

I, too, believe that Ben and Charles (Widmore) are related -- possibly brothers. That may explain why Ben told Charles "We both know, I can't do that" when he asked if he was at his house to kill him.

Any theories as to why Charles told Ben that "everything you have you took from me?" and "that Island's mine.....always was...and it will be again...."?

My theory is that Charles funded the original Dharma Initiative. So when Ben took over the island, blocked radio signals and did whatever he did to "hide" the island, he essentially took the island away from Whidmore.

I don't think they're related...I believe both of them are age-old space/time travelers who are forced to abide by rules (devised by a higher intelligence) in their "game." [X(]

So what's up with Jacob. Guess we'll find out.

momof4 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/2/2008 7:09:35 AM)

OOOH, is it too soon to say anything? OK, I'll post it in white, here goes, hope it works!

When Jack said to Kate,

Ok, here goes with the color thing again,
When Jack said to Kate

momof4 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/2/2008 7:13:11 AM)

OK experts, what am I doing wrong? Why can't I get the white to work? I'll try again,

momof4 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/2/2008 7:14:43 AM)

Let's try red, is this working?

momof4 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/2/2008 7:16:29 AM)

Now is it working? Am I supposed to see white while I'm typing, or not till I have the post posted?

momof4 -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/2/2008 7:18:47 AM)

OK, so I'm hopelessly low tech! I can't get the white to work! Or any other color, so I'llk wait till it's safe to say anything. This is just too complicated, trying to hide the message in white! Someone tell me how to do it.

2jsmom -> RE: Lost Season 4 (5/2/2008 7:51:58 AM)

Type what you want to say, highlight it and click the color button. Choose the color you want from there. You can use the preview button to see if it works. Here's an example of red. You can also use brackets. []color=FFFFFF for white.

I think you should be able to post the episode that was already aired regardless of the time zone.
