What’s a nice guy like you…” : " I’m not that nice"I give them a noogie. Never underestimate the power of the noogie. LOL!! That's FUNNY!!!! Probably the thing that bugs me the most is when my Aunt gets to going and is like, "So, I heard(Insert guy's name here) likes you? Why don't you just like him back?" Some people just don't get that when you know where God is leading you in life, you want to know the guy you are going to spend forever with is headed in the SAME direction as you are! Otherwise, things could get complicated!

I would say that's a pet peeve. I think he was being funny Jewels.........You have to watch him sometimes.....or at least I do.........I remember when he first started posting.......I would read something which broke my heart for him only to find out it was not true but one of his puns..........I just don't get why people assume being single also means you are gullible or worse naive........ In this case however I was stone cold serious.

I sit here still a single guy Sometimes it grand and yet other times it is so lonely it is just sad. There are day when I want to share my day with someone and then there are days when I am glad I am single so I can be alone. So I am not sure wich is better to be single or married. But I can say this I wish I had someone that I could love and that would love me back. You know the love I mean just being there when I need someone to listen to me. I am glad I have a lot of friends and I know they love me and they have help me But it is not the same as having a soulmate. That is what I am waiting on.......

I honestly don't think mine will - so that's one pet peeve I try to ignore.

Have you tried online dating? This is usually said by another single woman who thinks she's "too spiritual" for online dating or said by married person that's never tried online dating.

ORIGINAL: OneOfHisJewels quote:
What bugs me are these people (Elizabeth Elliot, James Dobson, etc) who think if you're over 30 and still single, then the only thing you're good for is to pack yourself off to the Amazon or Africa as a missionary. Elizabeth Elliott bugs me period. 1. She seems arrogant to me (and yes, I met her in person once, although did not have time to really converse). 2. In her book Passion and Purity, she is SO judgmental that women shouldn't chase guys around (which is true to an extent) or that they shouldn't even DESIRE marriage until some guy has placed a ring on her finger (impossible for any living, breathing female), and yet in my opinion, the way she waited endlessly for Jim Elliott to make up his mind was pretty desperate..if some guy took that long to make up his mind about ME, he could go take a hike. Which also reminds me why that book bugs me...she made him sound so virtuous, and I don't think taking forever to make up your mind is virtuous. Also, even though she tells other women they shouldn't assume they will marry, she admits that she assumed her daughter would marry even before she (her daughter) had met her husband. quote:
Elizabeth Elliott I agree with what you stated about Elizabeth Elliott. However, I did read a quote from her that I agreed with (she stated she was shocked at how many beautiful single Christian women she met with no prospects for marriage). I wish I could find it. I was surprised that the quote was coming from her. I will try to find -but it was years ago -so I might not be able to find.
