You are most welcome.

Right after I posted it I logged on and registered to vote ... I felt horrible thinking that I was taking it all for granted. Not only that, I know which of the major candidates I would prefer to see in office. And how can I rightfully complain if the "wrong guy" won if I didn't even bother to cast my own vote in the first place?

Just in case anyone else reads this and is wondering if it's too late to register ... we have until 29 days prior to the election to register to vote. And I logged on through my state's motor vehicle department to do it all online.

Speaking of skies ... this morning was so beautiful! The weather is nice enough that when I sit in the quiet with my cup of coffee conversing with God that I can now have the windows open.

This morning as I sat in the dark, watching the day begin, and the sky started to take on that beautiful baby blue color, it was scattered with various clouds. We are experiencing what we Phoenicians refer to as "weather" (a phrase that makes me giggle) with a little rain here and there, and as I watched the day start there were some very dark and solid gray clouds towards the horizon. Then, closer to my home, the clouds were, well, there. No particular shape. Just messy looking clouds in shades of grey, threatening to drop some of the water they were collecting. Most of these clouds were fairly low in comparison to the height of the darker grey, solidly defined clouds.

As I enjoyed the day God was providing unfold, my mind wandered to our relationship with Him. The clouds that were closer to the earth didn't have much shape ... there was a little solidness, but they more or less faded out in all directions to blend in with their surroundings.

But the clouds that were further up, closer to heaven (okay, perhaps my idea of where heaven is - up there) ... those clouds were clearly defined. Dense. Solid. They knew their purpose and didn't have any edges fading out and blending in with their surroundings.

My thoughts were that the longer we know God, the closer we grow to Him, the more purpose and definition we have in our lives ... and the more solid we are in Him. Focusing on Him. Knowing where the boundaries are. Not giving in to fading in with others who are dedicated to Him.

And I smiled. God is so amazing!!

I liked your post about the suffragettes, Sam. The story in Canada is somewhat different (and our political system WAY different) but now I'm curious just what the story is here and I think I'd like to see the movie you mentioned.

I'm curious about your statement about "we Phoenicians."

Hi Maggie!

LOL ... here in Phoenix, whenever there is something other than the "hot and sunny" forecast for the day, the locals simply say "we're having weather". It never ceases to make me giggle!! So right now we are still in our monsoon season, which means we are "having weather".

Oh wait! It gets better ... we get these enormous dust storms that are called "haboobs". Yeah, that tickles my funny bone too. Here's a little quickie info about them.

My avatar right now was taken here in the Phoenix area just prior to one of these haboobs hitting. Last summer we had one so giant that it was as wide as a third of the state!

They're an interesting experience - but you definitely don't want to be driving when one hits. They are usually followed by a pretty heavy rainstorm. And then the next day we have beautiful clear air ... which is another reason I appreciate them!

Oh, that's beautiful, Sam! I keep avatars disabled but I have my ways of looking at them when I hear there's one worth looking at. I have a very close friend who lives in the very southeast corner of Arizona and she's forever talking about the monsoons. She loves them too. Haven't heard her talk about the haboobs though (what a name!). Maybe because it's more mountainous where she is?

Here in the Canadian Prairies, every several years (well, less often than that) we'll get an enormous dust storm. Like your haboobs, you can see them coming but then you have a very tiny window of time in which to get all your windows closed and if you're not home, well, forget it! I remember the time I was visiting a friend when one hit. I had four little boys about 6 months to six years. When I got home EVERYTHING was covered with the fine silt of top soil. What a mess! No way could I let my boys loose until it was all cleaned up but how to contain them? I think I stuck all but the baby in the bathtub and told them to play there until I had a path cleaned to their bedrooms and their beds clean enough to get into. Sheesh!

Oh! I'm at the main public gathering place of the city, sitting beside a window, looking out on the "square" and what do I see but a man juggling flaming torches. Wow! He's good too.

Avoid all disrespect to or contempt of the religion of the country
and its ceremonies. Prudence, policy, and a true Christian spirit
will lead us to look with compassion upon their errors without
insulting them. While we are contending for our own liberty, we
should be very cautious of violating the rights of conscience in
others, ever considering that God alone is the judge of the hearts
of men, and to him only in this case they are answerable.

—George Washington, General Orders, September 14, 1775

Father, today we ask Your blessings upon our country as we remember the horrendous attacks of seven years ago. We lift up the survivors and the family and friends of the victims, and ask that they feel Your touch today. We ask for Your presence to be felt across our country and around the world as somber ceremonies take place. Help us to never forget that You are in control, even during the course of events that seem inexplicable. Amen.

I like your George Washington quote. I think it's easy to expect that Christianity be respected and then forget that we need to be respectful of others' choices, even when we don't agree with them.

I often copy and paste posts into a Word document. When the avatars are enabled a very short post will take up a lot of space--space I don't want to give it.

Hi Maggie! Sometimes I turn off my avatars as well, when my internet connection is being a little stubborn it seems to be quicker. Also, sometimes at work

Hi OOHJ! Nice to see you here

After talking about haboobs the other day, guess what? I was driving home, and as I was nearing the top of an incline I looked to my left and lo and behold! A huge brown blob was fast approaching! It lasted about an hour and a half, with winds reaching up to 60 mph! Fortunately it wasn't one of those that was too heavy. It was really cool and made me think about you Maggie!

Hey Mikey!

Yes, it was a wonderful weekend! Very busy ... Friday night the munchkin's band joined up with the local high school band and he had a BLAST! (And "our" school won the game! Woo Hoo)

Saturday was pretty full too. Did some stuff around the house, did a little shopping, stopped by a music store and let the munchkin loose. It was interesting to say the least. He played a little pocket trumpet, we giggled at some of the wild guitars, and he played around on some of the drums.

Yesterday was a wonderful God day, and a time of reconnecting with some friends we hadn't seen in a while.

Hope you had a good weekend too!

Thanks Sam! It is the weekend again and I couldn't be happier! My work has jumped from being busy during the Summer to insanely busy instead! I am gonna pray about it but I think it might be time for me to move on, which stinks because it seems that no matter where I go, it is always too busy!

Good morning!

Yeah, you do a lot of stuff with the legal field huh? Our office has gone from super crazy busy to a little bit of a lull with people settling cases, and we are picking up again. My specific area isn't in litigation, but we are picking up again too. I prefer it being busy myself, but I don't have to run all around the city like you do.

btw ... how's your back doing these days?

As far as me and the munchkin, we have been keeping busy. I'm going to tell a little story that, if he were to see it, would probably cause major embarrassment. But, you know, that's part of the fun of being The Mom.

Yesterday when we were heading out the door he was chatting and his voice was cracking a bit. I asked him if he had a cold. He was really quiet for a minute, then said no. Then it occurred to me: maybe his voice is changing.

Good grief! It seems like he was just a little tyke and now he's about to be a teenager. Where did the time go ...

WOW Sam, your baby is growing up! Soon he willl be taller than you, LoL!

Yes, we get a lot of legal stuff, but we get a lot of "other" printing type stuff too! Its almost as if people come to us last minute in a bind wanting it yesterday. And of course my boss goes "sure, we can do that!" He can do all he wants as long as he doesn't think that I will do OT at the drop of a dime. I dislike my job just enough where overtime affects my quality of life.

My back is doing better, although it ached a little bit on last Thursday when I put in a 12 hour day without a lunch. Friday night when coming home I stood up and for a minute I thought it was gonna give out on me. Praise God I turned out to be quite ok instead.

Soon he'll be taller than me! LOL ... I think we're at the same height now

It's all good. I've told him since he was 2 that one day he will be taller than me, but I am still The Mom, and even if I have to stand on a chair: he. will. listen. to. me.

He was all stretched out on the little couch last night on the computer, and he was all legs, and I thought "Oh my goodness, how did he grow so tall over night?" I guess it was bound to happen.

I woke up with back pain on Saturday. Had to go to the chiro. I must have slept wrong, because I can guarantee you I am not lifting a bunch of heavy stuff. Yeah, that's right, I know how to ask someone stronger to do it. I mean, sometimes I like to think I'm so strong, then I remember ... that's strong emotionally, not physically. I won't be winning any arm wrestling contests. Legs ... now that's a whole other story. I have strong legs. A good friend of mine is the same and she says "Just call me T-Rex!"

So, I'm thinking ... it's September. The leaves should be starting to change colors soon.

Then I remember where I live.

LOL! The trees are changing colour here and some are completely bare of their leaves. I'm looking forward to a hard frost that will kill all the mosquitoes and yellow jackets that are being such pests right now. Then it can warm up again for a nice, long, warm autumn.

Hi Maggie!

Indian Summer, isn't that what they call it?

I met up with a couple of my girl friends that I used to work with. It was fun to laugh and talk and giggle and catch up. What a fun evening!!

Yeah, that's what they call it. My favourite time of year. I was at a café yesterday--a European bakery with just four tiny tables--and two women at another table kept trying to kill the yellow jackets that were coming near them. It's the end of September. We should have had a hard frost already.
