Alright! Good for you! Now you can get that Chevy engine in it before the grass grows.

Can't have too much power in your riding mower!

(Denbert throws a couple more logs on the fire)

I spent a couple hours last night assembling the dethatcher. "Some assembly required" was an understatement. The mower will be here on Wednesday.

And I'm sure the instructions were a great help too!

They did seem to be written by someone who could speak English...for a change.

Got to the end of the instructions and it says to lubricate the wheels. Of course that's already assembled...and they don't say what to lube them with. The wheels are plastic.

Is that another use for WD-40?

Then it says you're probably gonna need to weight it down and that pavers (pre-formed concrete blocks) fit perfectly on top of it. They were right. Picked up two pavers and they fit perfectly.

Hmmm, I'm guessing a dry silicone based lubricant would do the trick.

Say, it's 52 degrees out there now. Is it time to put the air conditioner in the window?

Yeah, it did warm up a little. Maybe we can just open a window. Most likely we won't need an air-conditioner around here until at least June.

Sent off for seeds from Burpee, and they arrived in the mailbox yesterday.

Some of them have to be started indoors, because the average last frost here isn't until late May. I've got tomatoes and peppers to seed-start indoors. Everything else can just be directly planted in the garden.

First time for peppers. Thought I'd try something like a pepperoncini.

Yep, it's not safe to plant anything here until Mother's Day they say. Heck yeah, go for the peppers!

Pepperoncini's are about perfect...not too hot...still has some flavor and a nice kick but not overwhelming.

Doing well. Feeling much better after the stent and getting the blood sugar under control. The foot's good too, and I'm starting to walk more.

Plus I get to pick up my new toy today.

Enjoy your new toy.
Mine is going in for minor surgery when I get back from work. The mowing deck engagement pulley had given up after 25 years. So I'll have to go buy another Snapper assembly and replace it. That will set me back another $75 bucks! Dang it... I've already replaced the 25 year old clutch for $40, and now this.

The thing weighs somewhere around 350 pounds. I showed up at Sears with the pickup to...well...pick it up.

Two girls come out to load it.

So, I'm expecting it to be in a box on a pallet, and they'll just drop it in with a forklift...nope. They ask if I brought any ramps.

A few minutes later, they show up with ramps. Now, nothing against women drivers, but watching them try to line up the mower with the ramps was somewhat entertaining. Eventually they gave up trying to steer it and slid the wheels sideways until it lined up.

Thankfully, I brought a friend with me. Between the four of us, we pushed it up the ramps and into the pickup bed. I have serious doubts that they could have done it themselves.

Go to the local race track Saturday night. When you see how big the "spare tires" have gotten over the years, and the extend of the lack of motivation that is required to archive true apathy, you will be ready to get back to work for prevention of poverapathy.
