I do cook some. Mostly my wife does the cooking, but I do some too. Right now I'm planning the next meal for the soup kitchen. Our church runs the local soup kitchen once a month, and I'm in charge. It's always fun trying to figure out how much product to purchase and multiplying recipies to feed an army. [sm=chef.gif]

WTG Ray, I think i'd make a diet exception and goto your church to try your army meals! ;)

rayofson -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/12/2008 10:52:08 AM)

Going into the local bulk food store with a calculator is always fun. The soup kitchen is a community effort. When our church is in charge of the soup kitchen, it's actually located at a different church. They have a better (up to code) kitchen facility. Plus their church is more strategically located for better walk-up access than ours.

Talk of food has made me hungry, gotta stop for lunch.
Walk in and get a tray, see Ray serving up the goods. Hey, the sign sez "all you can eat". Ray plops down a spoon full and sez "that's right", and with an Oger grunt... "and THIS is all YOU can eat." [sm=icon_smile_evil.gif]

[:D]

[sm=biggrin.gif]

Yeah, but that's a really big spoon. [sm=thumbsup.gif]

That is funny!

denbert -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/12/2008 9:01:23 PM)

-
Maybe we should change the sign to "All You Care To Eat" [:)]

Konstantinos -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/12/2008 9:04:25 PM)

im gonna bake pizza tomorrow. maybe

denbert -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/13/2008 6:36:41 AM)

OK, it's tomorrow! [:D]

beauregarde -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/13/2008 8:44:08 AM)

Don't look to me for a meal. The sign will then read:

"All that You Don't Care to Eat."

rayofson -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/13/2008 11:01:29 AM)

Reminds me of Huey Lewis and the News - Bad is Bad

(1983)

[sm=icon_smile_sing.gif][sm=note.gif]
Across the street, a neon sign
All you can eat for a dollar ninety nine
Aww, that old stew is the baddest in the land
But one dollar's worth was all that I could stand

APZR -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/14/2008 12:14:54 AM)

Huey Lewis is great, was one of the first tapes I had when I started driving... great rock and nothing nasty.

Amped88 -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/14/2008 1:25:03 AM)

I got exposed to Huey Lewis from the Back to the Future movie lol! Power of Love!

rayofson -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/14/2008 10:31:50 AM)

They did the best rendition of the Star Spangled Banner I've ever heard.[sm=bigears.gif]

Konstantinos -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/14/2008 11:35:07 AM)

i made the pizza. it tasted like... not pizza.

Konstantinos -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/14/2008 6:40:25 PM)

how come

the women only folder has 100k posts

and we have 5k?

GrapeApe -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/14/2008 6:59:15 PM)

Men grunt and are done discussing. Women take 30-120 minutes between emotions and long rants to explain.

Thus, they have more posts.

*grunt*

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. We've got the picture. They've got the thousand words. [8D]

[:D][:D][:D] Can't explain it any better than that.

Were working on a fixer up project, pealed back the vinyl to find rotted flooring in the bath... brother and I groan, without a word we step out to get the hammer, crowbar, recip and skill saw. Then the wives start questioning about what's going on and chattering about needing a plan.... [8|]

Konstantinos -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/15/2008 5:21:03 PM)

wives always need a plan that takes 20 hours to make the plan and 1 hour to do the actual work. men start with the actual work and finish in 30 minutes and then have their wives clean for 5 hours [;)]

rayofson -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/21/2008 10:09:04 AM)

Finally the weather has turned nice. Highs are in the upper 60's and not much rain in the forecast. My friend that farms loaded my truck with a tractor loader bucket of horse manure. Took me the rest of the evening to spread it out around the garden. Now I need to till it in.

Should have done that last fall, but it never happened. [8|] Since it's so late in the game, he gave me nicely decomposed horse manure instead of cow manure. Next fall I hope to get another load of cow manure.

My wife almost looked in the back of the truck to check it out before it was off-loaded. She chickened out at the last minute though. [sm=icon_smile_kisses.gif][sm=purplelaugh.gif]

Another friend dropped by when he saw I had something in the back of the truck. He asked what I was doing, and I said that I was doing what I do best...'shoveling it'. [;)]

Ray - Didn't you have frost last night, or were you in one of the very few Michigan counties that did not have a frost warning?

Had to take care of the freshly planted flowers.

rayofson -> RE: The Garage-come on in (5/29/2008 6:09:11 AM)

Yes, there were frost and freeze warnings in our area. It didn't frost here though. We live so close to Lake Erie that it helps buffers weather extremes. The low here was only about 40 while it was freezing farther inland.

In the early days of summer, the cold water in the lake often keeps the temperature as much as 15F lower here than even a few miles away. In the Fall, the relatively warm water creates heavy fog when the air temperatures drop farther inland. as soon as the ice forms on the lake, the buffering is diminished. It gets just as cold here in the winter.
