Oh Zondie, I'm so sorry. This is all so stressful and heartbreaking. Whenever I read what's happening with your Mom it takes me back to when I was going through much the same thing with mine and it makes me so sad for you.

I am concerned though, because most Assisted Living Facilities are not locked down...that's why my Mom got out that night and fell. They also require that the resident be more independent than a nursing home does, so are they sure this is a good fit for your Mom? I do know that some do have SNF beds in a special unit, so maybe that's what this one has.

Please know you and your mom and family are in my prayers. Please be careful that you don't allow yourself to become overly anxious about all this...I know, easier said than done! I know you also take care of your son and you have a lot on your plate. Stay close to God, He will see you though this.

Dear Lord, Please be with Zondie right now. Give her and her siblings the wisdom they need to see to their mother. Help them to find medical and care professionals who can guide them and give proper care and treatment to her mother. We know that you have promised to work all things for the good of those who love you. Allow that good to come to light quickly so the family doesn't lose faith... but rather increase their faith. You have also promised to be their strength and to not give them more than they can handle. Give them each a heart wholy devoted to you so you can fulfil those promises in their lives and so they will turn to you instead of to themselves. I also pray that you will send friends and family who can offer them all support and hugs, meeting their needs before they even have to ask. I pray that your will is done in this situation and that your goodness and glory shine through. Please use these circumstances to draw others closer to you. Amen.

Thanx for the concern and mostly for the prayers Kat. I remember you telling me about your moms' fall. And only this past Winter, a man got away from the very place that mom's been applied to! They found him beside the highway...frozen to death! My sister has already petitioned the court for an emergency order. Now, I don't understand exactly what this means except, she told me that it will give her another 30 days to make other arrangements for mom. But so far, we've not heard back from them yet.

Zippy, thank-you for the beautiful prayer. Immediately upon finishing reading it; God gave me comfort. It's faithful prayer partners (such as yourself) that the Lord uses, to lift the spirit of a bewildered heart. Thank you again for such devotion to our Father in caring enough for your family members of God.

My sister gave permission, for my brother to take mom home with him and out of the nursing home. She's already started the procedures of giving up guardianship. My brother has decided to step up to the plate.

Already, she's doing better. But who knows how long this will last, (I pray the remainder of her days!) If mom holds to routine, she'll do fine for a week or so, before deciding that she needs to be hospitalized. She's saying that what she really wants, is to be able to go back to her own home.

So as I'm going uphill on the roller-coaster ride; I'll also be leaning on the Savior, for strength to make it to the top! For the past, (almost) 3 years now this has been what we've grown accustomed to. Thanks, for all who will remember our situation in prayer. And may God be with any other families, going through a similar situation.

Gosh, Zondie, what happened with the assisted living facility? Did they refuse your Mom?

I am glad your brother stepped up to the plate and I do hope it works out. Does he have a family? I pray he fully understands the enormity of the task he's taking on. I pray God will give him the strength to do this and that your Mom would really stabilize.

The assisted living facility didn't get a chance to refuse her, Kat. My brother was so eager to keep her home with him (after a weekend stay), that he just took it on himself to take action. And yes, he has a family and even babysits his granddaughter, 3 days a week! He's taken her in before...but the situation has changed now. He and the eldest son is figuring on trying to move her back into her own home with someone staying with her at night. I too, hope she becomes stabilized enough for this. But it's not likely to happen, knowing the routine we've gone through over the past 3 years! Only God knows, and time will tell. It truly concerns me and my sister. I know to keep praying and trusting in the Lord, as each day goes by. I hope they understand the responsibility they've volunteered themselves for! She's so unpredictable! I still think the best thing for her (at the present time) is to be in a controlled and secure facility.

Thanks for all the prayers, everyone! Mom is doing some better (she still has her moments that last 2-4 days). Right now she's still in my brother's home and is not anxious about moving back into her own. I don't know how it'll all turn out in the long run, but for now things are going well.

Someone started a prayer thread for the elderly, in the 'Prayer and Praise Reports' forum, so please remember to pray for them all! The elderly, have numerous problems and very few people who are willing to take out some time for them. Again, thank you all for your support and prayers!
