Not feeling too well at the moment. It's the early hours of the morning, so I'm just about to head off to bed. Have a good day.

SharMar, thanks for the explanation. I can't really remember when I met you here, or even if I participated in that thread or if it was the next year's. Not that it matters of course. Thanks again! Hello everyone!

Kath and James, I hope y'all were able to sleep headache-free last night. Mike, I hope you don't get a headache today. I was headache free today, and as you may or may not know I was up early as well. I went to take another nap and set my alarm but it never rang again for some reason! So I missed church again!

Mornin', y'all! Shar-Mar, that's a very interesting career choice you're making. I can see you fitting in very well with just about any group you went with . . . except, maybe, a bunch of sober-minded Wal-Mart executives who hate toys and Jackson, WY. You asked earlier if we could live anywhere we wanted, where would it be? I said after Mary and I went south for her birthday trip 2 years ago, that I'd love to live in either the Seymour/Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area or down around Calhoun, GA. We just fell in love with both places, especially TN. And if I couldn't get a job singing at one of the theaters in PF, then I wouldn't mind starting my own business as a . . . believe it or not . . . a wedding co-ordinator. Since I planned our wedding, Mary has tried for years to get me to do it as a secondary job. Yesterday was the Closing Ceremony for our VBS. This year's theme was "Meet Me Under The Big Top," so obviously it had to do with a circus. And the Director asked me to serve as the Ringmaster for the program during the worship service. I wore a long sleeve black shirt, black slacks, a red bow tie, red cumberbun, and a red, glittery top hat. I swear, I looked like a gay leprechaun!! The tie and cumberbun weren't so bad, but the hat was AWFUL! It didn't fit right on my head, and it was SO BRIGHT!! But the kids loved it, and so I guess that I'll not die of embarrassment . . . unless the picture someone took of me makes it's way to the Internet! Gotta run! See ya' later! Duane

Good Morning Terri, Trish, Pam, Mike, Duane, Bill & Beckey! quote:
ORIGINAL: .Pammy SharMar, thanks for the explanation. I can't really remember when I met you here, or even if I participated in that thread or if it was the next year's. Not that it matters of course. Thanks again! You're very welcomed, Pam. I think you and I met online maybe about a yea or so after that. Oh, and Kath clarified something for me in another thread . . . posters do the nominating for Best Thread of the Year and Best Quote of the Year, but Fritz and the moderators do the actual choosing of the winner. I think that's what I remember what I think she said. Mike, I'm very glad you didn't have a headache yesterday! OH - I put your prize that you won in the mail earlier this morning. (the August / September issue of "Country" magazine). quote:

Since I planned our wedding, Mary has tried for years to get me to do it as a secondary job. Duane, I'd imagine wedding coordinators do well around this area. Destination weddings are pretty popular. One of my office support clients is a wedding planner back in Jackson, and I answer a lot of inquiries to her website. There sure are a lot of wedding chapels around this area (PF). I'm glad you and the kids had fun at VBS! quote:

ORIGINAL: phosadaud I think you will love that job - and you'll do an awesome job at it! The best tour directors are the story tellers with a great sense of humor. That's you! I'm so excited for you! Saves me a whole lotta typing. I'm just gonna skip the 30 or so pages from the weekend and just ask our Tour Director ARE WE THERE YET? No. And if you ask me one more time, I'm going to pull over. quote:

ORIGINAL: BeckeyZ Oh yeah, apparently, this year is the 50th anniversary of the smurfs. I learned that when I was doing research last week; I plan to mention that in my auctions descriptions. I was pretty amazed; I didn't realize they had been around that long; I thought they were only about 20 or so years old. I'm so up on things. I just got back from the grocery store about 45 minutes ago. I gave myself 30 minutes to play in the forums before I had to get to work. Fiddle. Time must be up. Here's a question . . . I'd like to hear about y'all's current jobs / callings / professions, etc. What do you do all day? Details; I want details!

There was a moment in this thread in my catching up, everyone was saying hello to everyone and is was amusing. Nothing else was being said, just hello, and then a list of several posters' names. I was reminded of the ice-breaker game when you sit in a circle and have to recite everyone's names. Hello Sharon-Marie, Mike, Sharon, Kath, Pammie, Terri, Duane, Bill, Trish.... (I've lost the game, I don't remember everyone). quote:
Here's a question . . . I'd like to hear about y'all's current jobs / callings / professions, etc. What do you do all day? My title is Product Assurance Scientist. My company make point-of-care blood analyzers for the veterinary and human medical markets. In addition, we also make the reagents for those analyzers. Actually, the reagents are what we really make, but we need something for them to run in, so we make the analyzer for the reagents. My job is to assure our products. Currently my focus is on the analyzer itself. I look for trends in field failures (using our customer complaint database and our repair database), I repair broken analyzers and determine if it's something random, something we caused, something a parts vendor causes, something, caused by shipping, something caused by mis-use of the user, etc. I do a lot my trending via reports through an access database, which is what I currently have running in the background. Some day, when our analyzer is more reliable, I'll turn my focus onto chemistries and our reagents and reactions. Trying to improve them or make new tests. I could go into more detail, but I fear I've gone over too many heads as it is. Essentially, in a nutshell, to sum it up, to paraphrase... My job is to put Quest Diagnostics and Bio-Rad Labs (and other commercial laboratories) out of business.

Suffice it to say for now my title is "Information Technology Specialist" (real helpful, huh?), and I work for the federal government. Of course the really important thing here is that I will no longer be one as of 1 August 2009, and yes, that is less than a year away. Woo hoo!
