He turns 3 in September. But I can say that the "terrible 2's" aren't really that terrible with him.

Okay the Lab Tech part: Calibrate analyzers (if they need it) Run controls on analyzers to be sure they are measuring and calculating analytes correctly. Check all blood collection tubes for correct fill (too much blood or too little can cause erroneous results) and check names on tubes if one was hand written along with the name on the barcode label. Load specimens on analyzer and watch for alert or critical values. In the case of critical values, call the ordering physician or doctor on call and give them the result. Watch for trends in results (example: several high CO2 results in a short time may warrant recalibrating CO2) and troubleshoot as needed. Rerun samples that fall into trend after troubleshooting. Check pending list to make sure all blood tests to be performed in my department (Hematology, Chemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, or Blood Bank) are in my department accounted for and ready to test. Restock supplies and clean with 10% bleach at end of shift. (There's a whole lot more stuff going on in there, but those are the basics)

I once heard that the terrible 2s are representative of teenage years. Those who are really bad at 2 are really difficult as a teen. Those who are pretty easy-going at 2 are pretty easy-going as a teen. I've asked some parents of teenagers and have been told it's pretty accurate.

I had a cousin (a little girl) who began her "Terrible Two's" at 1-1/2 . . . and ended them at 3-1/2. She spent 2 years in the "Terrible Two's!!!!" I often asked her parents if I should call in an exorcist for Erin. She was a real "holy terror": getting Crisco out of the cabinet and then climbing in to the kitchen sink (naked, no less!) to "put on makeup like Mommy;" jumping on her older sister's back while she was lying in the floor watching TV - and those are only two examples! But one day, out of the blue, she stopped. It was like someone had turned a switch inside her! Erin went from screaming and running away from me if I even said "Hi" to running and jumping into my lap to give me a hug. That was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen with children's behavior. As for my day: I stand around and watch other men work, and then write a report about it. I also work on paying Invoices from the different utility companies that are moving their lines because they are in the way of our road projects, and the 2 main railroads (Norfolk Southern and CSX) when they are doing crossing upgrades. Plus, I sometimes get to cruise Crosswalk! Duane

ORIGINAL: WhiteRoseBlessings Here's a question . . . I'd like to hear about y'all's current jobs / callings / professions, etc. What do you do all day? I am currently the bookkeeper, head bookkeeper, whatever (I don't think I have an official title but those are usually what my boss calls me) of a large church. My days consist of lots of computer work - cutting checks; calculating & preparing & processing payroll; developing & completing various financial reports for the board, pastors & congregation; purchasing and researching various purchases the church needs; some inventory; filing important documents and the hoards of paperwork my office generates; overseeing the gals who do the deposits; maintaining the books; overseeing the petty cash; basic computer troubleshooting and training on several of our church programs; managing the credit card/online giving and helping troubleshoot when folks have problems; keeping track of what people owe for various missions trips, camps, etc; making sure the manager knows what the various payroll & financials laws are that we must abide by & keeping on top of changes; explaining things 10 times to my boss because he doesn't know what he's doing but of course nothing is ever his fault; trying to soothe ruffled feathers that my boss creates because of his attitude and verbal abuse; am the go-to person by the pastors and many on our leadership team because unlike a certain person I work for, they know I am honest and will actually get stuff done; and all kinds of other stuff some of which has nothing to do with my job but somehow falls on my plate.

Kristin ... you sound like a Jack of All Trades at your work. Do you do this at YOUR church, or just A church?

ORIGINAL: WhiteRoseBlessings Here's a question . . . I'd like to hear about y'all's current jobs / callings / professions, etc. What do you do all day? Details; I want details! My primary current job, in all honesty, no jest, is recovering my sanity and my health. One doctor said he thinks I'll recover 98%. Not real sure what the deal is with the remaining 2%, but who wants to be completely sane anyway? That can't be any fun. So part of what I do each day is walk. It's good for my brain, my heart, and my whole body. I have a regular 7 mile route, which is pretty amazing considering the medical condition I've been living with. I bring along praise and worship music and spend a lot of time just talking to God. I have other plans, but they're being held up by an unresolved circumstance in my life that apparently involves a tall man. Not real sure what his involvement is, but I know it's something....................
