I love video games. For the past couple of years, I've been hooked into The Sims 2 on my PC. I LOVE to download custom content and I love to see how genetics play out on my sim babies. I have so many different families and I am actually attached to all of them, as weird as it sounds.

My cousins just got a PS3 and bought Rock Band for their kids for Christmas. We played it for two days straight. I think I found my calling as a drummer.

I love games, as well. The last good system we had was a Nintendo 64. I'd like to replace it at some point, but gaming just isn't a priority right now. I am not sure which system I would get...

For now I just play at MSN Zone when I have time. I like some of their puzzle and word games. I wish they had more indepth games, but I don't think I can complain because they are free.

Oooh we want Rock Band. We've been hooked on Guitar Hero and we imagine Rock Band is much better (made by the same people as GH and you get drums and a microphone!!!) Somehow, I have a feeling Dh won't let me use the microphone.

Akeelah (who is freshly 1) knows how to hold the 360 controller and stand in front of the tv and press buttons. She can press the trigger button at the same time she presses the letter buttons, and she can work the joystick. It's funny to watch because she stands there, looks at the tv, looks at the controller and presses something, then looks back at the tv as if she knows what she's doing.

I don't know if that is good or bad.

So will Micah. I fell asleep to the sound of that game being played so many times when I was pregnant that I started hearing the sounds in my dreams

Maybe I'll try and learn Diablo today, it would be nice for it to run on my laptop, I'll have to try....

LOL- computer games are what DH does when I go to sleep and he's not tired yet. He also plays World of Warcraft and Dark Ages of Camelot (I think).

One of the things I love about my new laptop is that it can actually handle a decent game without puking. The most graphics-intensive ones are first-person shooters and I don't like those anyways.

Erin- come up with a CIV night!! We haven't forgotten. A weekend night would probably be best so no one has to worry about getting up in the morning- DH and I count on a marathon any time we sit down to play. The first time we played it together I think we played for about 6 hours straight.

Amy and Lexie- My DH also plays what I would consider too much, but he has cut back since we've been married. He was always allowed to just play as much as he wanted at home growing up. He's mostly shown that he can cut back more when necessary (school/work). He just doesn't have a lot to do during the day when I'm at work. We've had some arguments about it, but I try to keep in mind that its a hobby for him and I have hobbies too. I try to be understanding about asking him to get off when I want his attention or want to do something together.

My husband would *love* that there's this thread!!

As a kid, iwe had tonnes of computer games (ie. Crystal Caves, Duke Nukem, Commander Keen, Maniac Mansion, etc.) for our Commodore 64. We got a Sega when it came out, and then the Playstation when it came out, so I definitely grew up around games!

We currently have an old school Ninendo (NES), Nintendo 64, and an X-Box (my dad just bought a Wii and an X-box 360, so he gave us his older x-box and games!). Our favourite game to play together is Perfect Dark (N64) and also Dr. Mario =) We've only had the X-box for a week or so, but we've enjoyed playing it together so far!

I don't really like playing games on my own - often Brad will play and I will sit beside him and watch/knit! I don't mind 3rd person shooters (like Obi-Wan for x-box, or perfect dark for N64), but I loathe quest-based games (ie. zelda, morrowind, etc.). I just don't like figuring out puzzles!

He enjoys PC games like Oblivion (just got it for Christmas), Warcraft, etc. He won't ever play WoW, though.

I don't play WoW with him- I don't have the time to invest in a game like that.

ETA- we have been renting Wii games trying to find out which ones we like before buying them, but its sort of $$ from Blockbuster (I think it was $6 or so for only 3 nights). I was at the library today and found out that they rent video games and its only $3 for an entire week! Might be something for you ladies to check out too.

Dh has TONS of video games and people always comment on it when they come to visit. But we have NEVER bought a game at full price. We always wait until Blockbuster has a previously viewed sale (buy one get one 1/2 price) and stock up them. Or we get them at Best Buy on Boxing Day.

Only once did we get a game on the first day it came out, that was Halo 3, but we traded in some games at Blockbuster to pre-order it.

I didn't know that the library does video games, I will definitely check mine out (though I don't have a good library.)

I remember that old machine. It was great in it's day. We had an Amiga and played Space Taxi alot! You can even find a space taxi in Veggie Tales (in The Gourds Must Be Crazy).

I play WOW with my husband. Our guild has alot of Husband/ Wife teams. The most popular is hunter/ druid. Almost each team is a healer/ damage dealer team.

My sweetie has many other games I don't play but we mostly only play wow now, since it is so time intensive and we have friends on the game. Our computers are side by side so I can work on Photoshopping my art while he does stuff on his 'puter. My husband and son did spend some time reliving the glory days of Dark Age of Camelot and Everquest last night. Their fondest memories of those games was to team up and own the battle grounds.

The only "new" games I have ever been able to get into are the Mario Party series (expect not 8 on the Wii). When I first got married we used to play Mario Party nearly every day.

Recently we bought Super Monkey Ball, and it is OK, but I don't like how one has to play the same levels over and over.

Besides for that my brain does not do 3D. I even had to drop out of the drafting class I was in because I have no visualization skills.

My husband loves video games, but I most the ones he plays. I wish Halo would disappear forever.

We bought Sims2 last night. We played all night long. And now I just want to go home and play now. I have an addictive personality! I made sure to do my "chores" this AM, so I can play tonight!

Does anyone have Zoo Tycoon for DS? I bought the game used and don't have the manual and can't find it online.

Last Sim game I played was Sim City 2000. What is Sims like? Those games seem really popular.

I kind of go in spurts with my video game playing. I'll be really obsessed for a few weeks, then decide I don't want to play anymore and it could be several months before I decide to play again. Sometimes a whole year will go by.

I hadnt played in months, until this thread, then I got the urge.

Sims inst too bad, my hubby finds it boring. You can either freestyle like we are doing or do it where they give you specific goals (get promoted, make friends with X, etc). The basic concept is a life simulator, you eat (and in Sims2 you actually find and make 'recipes'), sleep, talk to friends, shower, go to the bathroom, have fun, rest, find a job, etc. Last night hubby and I made friends with each other and are now in a romantic relationship, after a certain time period you can "propose".

Lorne and I have a PS2. My favorite game right now is Ratchet and Clank! We have number 1 and 3 and my brother just lent us 2 which we both just started to play. We take turn playing levels. We have been playing a lot lately cuz I have been feeling under the weather and don't feel like doing much at night.

I am so addicted to bolts! I have all the Ratchet and Clank games except the one one for the PSP. We just got the PS3 before our anniversery, so my dh bought me Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction. When I was a nanny to four kids they showed me how to play and I was addicted. They helped me come up with the screen name addictedtobolts for the game forums!

We have Xbox360, 2 PS2, Ninetendo 64, PS3 and three computers. My dh and I play a few games together, but mostly we play seperate games in the same room together.

We have close friends, he loves to play and would play all the time, she hates games and thinks it is a waist of time. My dh feels for him, dh says he was blessed to find a woman who plays as much as he does. I set up play dates for the two guys and she and I go shopping or to the Zoo. I love my dh!

I wish I had a girlfriend here to have a play date with! LOL

I went to buy Tetris last night and it was sold out so instead we got Scene It: Lights Camera Action. We played for hours last night.

It's funny because our 14 year old nephew also has a 360. Right now we're in the midst of a competition to see who can get a higher gamerscore(done through getting specific achievements in games). Dh and I are so pumped and dedicated to getting a higher score than him, it's quite sad. I'm trying to figure out which one of the three of us is the only teenager.

Okay....I picked up my kids "cooking mamma" game last night. Has anyone else played this?

Do you think it's just horrible that I was cursing mamma (the kids were in bed already)? I just really hate it when her eyeballs flame at me.

I think I got it, mostly. I'm trying to be adventurous and try new games. I need to get out of my tetris/uno rut and try some new things.

DH and I play DoD (Day of Defeat) together quite a bit. He's gotten me started playing it. There's even a Christian server we game on. It's lots of fun!!!!

As far as being upset with a game...btdt. I don't know how many times I have "slammed" my mouse a little too hard because I "died" in game trying to "shoot" someone else. LOL

Just be cautious about what reactions you DO let your kiddoes see & I think you'll be all right
