David A was an embarrassment. I have never heard any song hacked to death the way he did "Sweet Caroline"

based on last nights performance alone..I would pick the bottom 2 as David A and Brooke..and would think it justice if either of them went home.

Your viewpoint is very refreshing. It's so nice to see that not everyone gushes over savant-boy... *giggling*

(I just wish so much favoritism wasn't shown to him - I don't mean to sound hateful, if I'm coming off that way.)

I don't gush over him, either. Yes, he's cute. Yes, I'm so glad he doesn't have an attitude. However, when it comes to sheer talent, I think the other David beats him hands down. If Jason would sing the way he's capable of singing ("Hallelujah," "Travelin' Through") then he would beat the crud out of David A, as well. I think that even Syesha did better than him last week and this week. I agree with Simon: the only people David A appeals to are the grannies and the teenyboppers.

I believe David C beats David A hands down as well. As far as being current, David C is the complete package that fans are looking for - and he has loads of talent as well as a huge heart. Syesha has "come into her own" the past couple of weeks as well - she's done a wonderful job. I just worry that it's "too little, too late", ya know? As for Jason, he has done a really wonderful job in the past - he needs to turn up the heat if he's lucky enough to survive tonight... I'd just hate to see him go out before Brooke and/or Syesha. I really think he deserves to be in the top 3 with the two David's... or the top 3 with Syesha and David C, should that be the way it goes...

I wouldn't say that on Syesha. She's on the top 5 and might even make the top 4. The ones that we once thought will make on the top 5 (Carrie and Michael Johns) were eliminated so Syesha is doing something right.

I'm not saying she doesn't deserve to be where she is - I'm merely worried about her going home tonight, instead of Brooke - especially in regards to the fan base numbers. Sorry if I didn't express myself clearly. I like Syesha - I'd love for her to stick around and for Brooke to go home... and even for David A to go home, leaving it David C - Syesha - Jason for the top three.

I haven't seen the Paula blunder but it doesn't surprise me. Her ultimate "nice" critique is "You looked beautiful tonight."

My random thoughts (having seen only two of the performances)

* Jason was actually pretty good.
* Syesha was the best of the night.
* David C. is my boy and is the best by far (at least the best David) but during his second song, I found other things to get distracted with.
* You could REALLY hear the hoarsness in David A.'s voice during those songs.
* Brooke needs to go home.

I would not be surprised if Simon's comment about Syesha was meant to gain her sympathy and encourage people to vote for her because she's so vulnerable.

Only other thing I will say is that whenever I've heard the word "Savant" it's been preceded by the word "idiot."

Woot! Woot!!

Jason, David A, David C and Syesha were all declared safe.

Syesha and Brooke were in the bottom two - guess who went home? (Bawling the whole way, might I add... I did kinda feel sorry for her - but mostly for my friend, Sharon, who cried when Brooke left. Now I don't feel quite so silly for whooping when Jason was declared safe at the beginning of the show. )

Any thoughts on next week's rock and roll theme?

'glad she's voted out tonight.
In another story-- I thought that Simon call tonight was sweet. His first crush and first kiss when he was 9 and she lives in Petaluma. 'wonder if they'll see each other.

FWIW, I'm not a fan of Jason at ALL!

But then, what's one vote in a sea of millions?

Jodavi - That call was adorable - and I'm like you - I wonder if they'll talk later and do some catching up...

Quipper - I'll forgive ya for not liking Jason.

This is supposed to be the list of songs the contestants can choose from next week. (At least that's the current rumor...) What songs can you see each contestant singing and why?

There's one in every crowd.

Thoughts: finally, we can stop talking about Brooke. Yes, I felt a little sorry for her when she started crying, but not that much. I'm glad Syesha made it to next week, although I'm not sure how I'll feel if she knocks out one of the boys. The only one I might not mind her knocking out at this point would be David A. I actually can't wait to see what she'll sing, because there's some great rock songs for women.

And speaking of singing, rock on Neil Diamond! Hubby said forget the contestants, he was the best singer. I am totally going to buy his album, or at the very least download that song. I loved it.

I thought there were two sweet moments: when Ryan defended Paula and Simon's kiss. Whatever you think of Paula's action, I thought that was nice of Ryan to speak up for her.

And I hope Simon catches up with his old flame, too. There probably won't be any sparks, because she's probably married to an American, and last I heard he had a girlfriend in Britain. It would still be sweet for them to catch up on old times, though. And I thought it was cool that Simon still remembered her.

Simon's girlfriend is Terri Seymour. She's in the show Extra. Very pretty girl but her voice...I kinda cringe everytime I hear her speak.
Also, I made a conclusion not to ever, ever, ever rely on dialidol again. They used to be, at least, close to accuracy when there were only 6 or 5 left but with Syesha as being safe on their site yesterday and she was in the bottom 2-- that was it.

My 15 yo says that it's the mid-teens that are the primary voting block for Jason, because a lot of freshman and sophomores at school and in youth group love him.

Also...what an interesting Neil Diamond song. God got a shout-out this week in the show as well, even though He wasn't mentioned by name.

I was really amazed at how Brooke went to pieces over being voted off. Obviously, that girl really thought she was going to win! Now, that the contestants are showing how much they just want to be top 10 & not the winner, I just was amazed at her reaction. I wonder what Ryan was saying to her when she walked to the back of the stage. Why did David C push on her to move forward? It all was a bit strange.

Seems to me Jason does still enjoy the rest of the show. He does fairly well in the group songs & he has a lot of fun w/ the videos. I just wonder why he's not so into proving himself w/ his song choices. I really don't think I can excuse him for singing the wrong song in front of Neil Diamond. Bad form! But otherwise, he still seems into it to get the most out of this show.

I started looking at the R&R list. My favorite rock song is & always will be "More Than A Feeling". My brother was the huge Boston fan while I followed Rush, but that one song has always been my favorite. I will be pleased if David C picks it. It will be interesting to see Syesha channel a biker girl image. Kinda makes me think of Melinda D.

I still want to know what Simon's finger pointing up on the right side of his head means. Does he tend to do that when he's embarrassed? He did it all through the old flame phone call. kd

It was time for Brooke to go. She should have gone a while back, actually. She's sweet, but limited to one type of song.

Jason irritates me that he doesn't seem engaged with the rest of the singers. When someone gets voted off, or even in the bottom 2 or 3, he just seems so disconnected.

Sorry to see Brooke go, but why oh why do they make them sing when they are crying. I personally could not do that. I would really like to see when a contestant got voted off and they get all mad and say Kiss my you know what and walk off. Now that would be a show.

My feeling was that he touched her in an effort to comfort her but then pulled back top let her finish the song. All of them seemed like they didn't know quite what to do when they came down with her.

I wasn't surprised at her reaction.

She nodded when Ryan announced she was going home like she knew it would be her, then started the drama.
Did anyone else notice her false start on that song?

I was really hoping she would react like Carly did.
