No surprise that Syeesha went home. It is between the 2 David's now. What about Fantasia's performance last night and what's up with the red hair? I couldn't understand the words, but I understood the screeching. The look on Simon's face was priceless like he is saying, What the? Blake Lewis was on Fox last night being interviewed and he stated the he had a row with the producers on the finale and he wanted to do that awful song and put his own spin on it and he was not allowed to.

Archie might as well quit the charade and admit he can't sing anything but schmaltzy ballads, take his second place trophy home, and enjoy recording his album of Diane Warren-penned love songs.

Archie can't sing love songs. Watching him sing love songs is like watching a father give the sex talk to his 13 year old daughter -- highly uncomfortable.

I didn't say he could... I said that's what he'll end up recording, awkward as it may be.

wareaglekd -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/15/2008 10:00:11 AM)

Uhmmm, I said a few weeks ago David was going to win.

I really couldn't have had a good opinion on the Chris Brown song because I don't know it & don't know who Chris Brown is. I'm afraid my radio stays on Christian radio!

Syesha's personal choice was not smart for a pop competition. She proved she should go on to Broadway after the tour.

I like what David C did w/ the last song because it just made it different. It definitely was not predictable. I must have missed something early on because I didn't remember all that about his brother. I can't see that David C wasn't interested & then wind up in the top 2. So, amazing what little effort can do for you. We learn something from this. DON'T TRY SO HARD!

Yeah, I do think the fans have made David Archuleta bigger than life. He can do a lot of things, but being a teen idol just isn't one of them. His talents can be used in a lot of areas, but I can't see him selling tickets in mainstream entertainment. He will definitely be doing musicals in the future & will do very well. He could very well be the next Jennifer Hudson. Oh, I think the eye problem will disappear as he gets older & gets away from daddy.

I can see David C being the sure winner, but remember, he's not the type to be controlled by others' opinions, so he would have a difficult time in that first year doing the Johnny Bravo thing. His success will come later when he is able to truly launch out on his own. kd

jodavi -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/15/2008 10:00:20 AM)

Archuletta needs this win more than Cook. Cook will do fine whether he wins or goes second but Archuletta for sure...will need this more.

Wayfaring_Stranger -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/15/2008 10:00:44 AM)

I didn't watch the year Fantasia was on, but I have to say I really don't like the screeching. Does she always do that?

I was hoping it would be the two Davids in the finale. I enjoyed seeing each of them visit their home towns. I think Syesha would do great with musical theater.

David Cook's brother Andrew isn't the one who is so ill, is he?

I taped "Idol Tonight" specifically to watch the interview with Jason. It had been my impression beforehand that he was simply overwhelmed with the whole experience, and that seemed to be the case. Way back when we first saw him, he would hunch his shoulders up and get wide-eyed with nervousness all the time. I think he must have been coached not to do that, and he did seem to become a little more at ease with interviews and such, but I think it still stressed him out. I hope he finds a niche market and does well -- I'd love to hear more from him.

jodavi -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/15/2008 10:03:53 AM)

I believe David C is the middle son. His younger brother tried for AI- the one last night. His older brother is the one who's ill.

stellaluna -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/15/2008 10:09:58 AM)

I don't watch American Idol, I'm just poking in to ask a question.

I think it's weird that "Shout to the Lord" was performed on that AI gives back show. I just found it on YouTube. Who picks? Are they Christians? Or what's the deal?

Maybe you are right...but why should he win if he isn't the best? I agree that Cook will do fine either way, but why give Archuletta the "crown" of American Idol if he doesn't deserve it? Oh well, it's been done before.

David A and Brooke are Mormons.

uncabeeil -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/15/2008 3:09:03 PM)

And the rest of them weren't. What's your point?

stellaluna asked if the AI contestants were Christians. They are the only two that I've heard much about regarding their beliefs. I've heard that Jason is a Christian and plays in a praise band at church, but haven't seen anything about other contestant's beliefs.

VisitorinWaiting -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/16/2008 9:00:14 AM)

That was also the week of "Idol Gives Back," so that might have had something to do with it.

Speaking of that week...was Ryan rude or what?! Telling Michael Johns that no one was eliminated last year after "Idol Gives Back," but this year, that wasn't the case. I just thought that was uncalled for... Wow. I think it gave him a little glimmer of hope, just to be let down again. You all might have already discussed that before I started reading here...

kohls356 -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/16/2008 11:29:26 AM)

I wonder if Syesha sang the Broadway song for the reason it was a broadway song. If I remember correctly when one of the judges told her she would make a good Broadway star she said something like that is fine. I wonder if that is what she wants and she probably knew she wouldn't make it to the final two and is hoping someone will put her on Broadway.

I never liked Fantasia and after watching her perform the other night just made me remember why. The judges criticize so many for screeching and that is all Fantasia seems to be able to do.

Regardless, I think it's weird to hear that song if they aren't Christians. I don't like it.

But then if you think about it how many non Christians takes roles on Christians movies as Christians and even played Jesus. And how many people in church who are not Christians sings Shout to the Lord. I even had a choir director before who'd lead us in worship and later found that she has not accepted Christ in her life --- but then Praise God, she eventually did.

VisitorinWaiting -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/17/2008 10:59:56 AM)

True...and if we knew more about the lives of even the Christian/gospel artists that we listen to everyday, we probably wouldn't consider them Christians either... My pastor has been faced with situations where the song was Christian but the artist wasn't...didn't know about it until afterward...and then when asked if he'd still listen to this person...his response was that he would...why? It blessed him. So, God allows blessings to come to us in disguise of non-Christians from time to time. Hearing them all sing "Shout to the Lord" certainly blessed me...got a good word out to the world as well...

Same here. 'can imagine how many non believers googled that song the following day or might have heard when someone visited a church and it got stuck on their mind. Or who knows -- during rehersals, someone was blessed or touched in the studio with the song.

Wayfaring_Stranger -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/17/2008 11:00:21 PM)

You know how in the finale several of the top 10 sing with someone who is famous in their genre. I was just thinking it would be cool to see Jason Castro and Christ Tomlin singing the latter's version of "Amazing Grace."

I would like to ask for prayers for Luke Menard. He was in the top 24. The Orlando Look-alike. I just found out today that Doctors found a mass behind his heart. He had been sick and then started having shortness of breath. They will be doing a biopsy this week to determine if it is cancer. His parents are flying out tomorrow (mon) to be with him. If I am not mistaken he was supposed to be in the finale tues. or wed. I know that Luke and his wife Lara are trusting in the Lord. But what a scary thing to find out. This is an amazing young man. Who Loves the Lord.

amybreit -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/19/2008 8:11:07 AM)

Praying for Luke!

babbred -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/20/2008 7:52:00 AM)

Way back when we were discussing the final...

I totally agree with whoever said that David A needs this much more. With his rocker image and high level of talent, David C probably already has record producers drooling over him. Archie, on the other hand, won Star Search but never had anybody snap him up. This is probably his last chance to make it. And with his teen idol type of appeal, he's only got a limited window of time to try and make his mark. Rockers, however, last forever. [8D][;)]

uncabeeil -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/20/2008 8:54:18 AM)

Archie won Star Search when he was something like 11 or 12. Not too many record companies sign 12 year olds to contracts. I'm pretty sure he'll do just fine singing for Disney.

jodavi -> RE: American Idol Season 7 (5/20/2008 9:37:46 AM)

Even if David A gets the Disney endorsement- he has very limited window time because he's 17. Most of their talents started very young.
