I couldn't believe that one girl complained that she didn't get a fair chance "like everybody else". She got exactly the same chance as everybody else.

yeah when she said that I actually talked back to the tv "YES YOU DID LADY" then asked my hubby (who was in the other room) if he heard what she said!!!

Yup...with the judges. It does seems like they want to be very careful on their picks and I'm sure it has to do with all the Sanjaya thing last year.

what exactly happened last season with him? I didn't get to watch it.

Kyle's looks can be changed with a good stylist.

I thought Paula was going to say "yes" to the beauty queen until the BQ started whining. Then I knew Paula would say "no".

Sanjaya was the perfect example of what's wrong with the voting on AI. He was a horrible singer who knew he didn't belong on the show, but he had the votes every week from places like Vote For the Worst that kept him in the top 10. It got to the point where the judges were saying right on the air that they didn't understand why he was still there.

I can't wait til they weed out all the Daughtry and Carrie wannabee's.

I loved how they did the Hollywood auditions this year.

I didn't recognize a lot of the girls who changed their hair from the way they had it in the original auditions. I was amazed Kyle made it past the black girl who was a single mother whose dad died since the first audition -- I thought she was better than he was.

I think my favorites are Michael Johns from Australia and the 16 year old whose vocal cords had been paralyzed.

I like those two also and I forgot about his vocal cords getting paralyzed. I also like the very first girl who sang who played the keyboard- they mentioned she's like Carol King.

I really felt bad for Josiah, if he can't handle the pressure now, it going to be really hard on him later on.

On a lighter note, why has eveyone decided to start singing Brian Adams songs? I don't think Kyle will make the top 24.

Did they say he had 2 hour sleep? I know I get an emotional wreck on almost anything when I get 5 hour sleep. Hopefully, he gets over his emotions because I did like one of his singing last night when he had the keyboard.

ahhh...thanks for the explanation.
they need to revamp the judging anyway....I think the judges need to have some say also in who gets down to at least the last five.

I like the voice of that lady from across the pond somewhere...not sure where, I didn't catch it...but she has a haunting lilt to her voice....very nice. She was the one that was passed through before but had a visa problem and couldn't do it. I like her.

She's from Ireland.

I noticed something interesting. On the AI site, they now have a Hollywood week w/ pages of all the contestants. There's not a single person from Alabama there. I'm believing in the screening process they are weeded out. You know there had to be a lot of them from Alabama in Atlanta. They just don't want to take any chances of Alabama continuing to monopolize the program. Hey if you got it you got it! A lot of the famous ones do come from Alabama. I'm proud of Alabama singers! kd

North Carolina is the most successful Idol state.

Forget Alabama. They need to weed out the Southerners and give the Yankees a chance.

The Hollywood round was miles better this year. I actually enjoyed watching it. It was nice, as somebody said, not to have to put up with the egos and tantrums of the group singing stage. That being said, I have to confess that once again I was not impressed by Josiah. To be blunt, he sounded like he was drunk when he came out on stage for his last performance. Yes, I know he got very little sleep. However, remember the scenes with the band and that lady chasing after him. Evidently he was determined to make them play his arrangement no matter what, and it just wasn't working, so he left in a huff rather than work with them. I was SO glad that Simon gave him a tongue-lashing. That remark about it taking guts to get up there was just so arrogant. And Simon was spot on when he said that if you're going to sing without a band, then you'd better have loads of talent. It's very difficult to pull off, and Josiah didn't. He may have sung well in the past, but his final performance was terrible. In the previews for tonight's show, they showed a clip where Simon was saying, "I completely disagree with this decision." I wonder if he was referring to Josiah? He was the first person I thought of when saw the clip.

I was really disappointed that Angela Martin, the woman with the disabled child, didn't make it through. I work with special needs children, and it's incredibly difficult to raise one. Not only did I sympathize with her emotionally, I definitely thought she had a better voice than some of the others who made it through.

Ah, Kyle. What can you say? He's cute, but frankly, not as talented as some of the others (including Angela). However, he'd better allow the AI stylists to make him over, or he's going to end up as the next Sanjaya. That's why I was surprised that the judges let him through.

That one girl last night who was sick and she had her voice rested....boy oh boy...when she sang and then she spoke after and it showed that her voice was still not mended, where did she get that singing voice, I thought it was amazing.
And btw...what was that all blue/green tounge in most of them last night. Either they were having some candies or some spray, since I've seen someone getting that spray last night-- but it was not a pleasant sight on TV when they were singing.

no he wasn't talking about Josiah there.....he was talking about one I hoped would make it through...Kyle. I sure hope he tries out again next time....he has a good voice. I think he would be one to really come out in this type of thing where he would get the right kind of training, etc.

Blast it all, I taped the show while I was at church, but the recording didn't come out all the way. It got near the end, just when they were going to announce the last female, and then it cut off. So who got the last spot? The model or the other one? I hope it was the model, because I liked her better.

Some thoughts:

I'm glad Kyle didn't get through. I'm sorry, but there were better singers, and he didn't look like a pop singer. If he had gotten through then he would have been the new laughingstock. I can't believe Simon got all misty-eyed about him. He must be getting sentimental in his old age.

I'm glad the judges didn't confirm Josiah's "gut instinct." As soon as they showed that little segment with him predicting that he'd get in, I knew I'd be irritated if he did.

I'm really disappointed that Janis Joplin didn't make it. She at least had real personality. Nobody else really jumped out at me. Geesh, I can only remember a couple of people who actually made it--the Irishwoman and the Australian. Since my husband is British, I'm kind of biased in hoping they do well. Of the two, however, I can only remember Michael's name. Everybody else just blends in the background. I forgot. I remember A-YES-ha, too, and I hope she does well.

Is it just me, or does Ryan's endless pronouncement that "this is the best season ever" seem a little over the top? They have some good singers, but at least IMHO nobody outstanding. Offhand I can think of more than one person from a past season who is better.

And finally, I'm glad they didn't put through another Carrie clone. That was getting really old.

Michael was the one I was happy to see get through. I love his voice. I get sick of that pop or r&b everyone-sounds-the-same style, and he doesn't have that. His voice kind of reminds me of Chris Daughtry, my all time favorite AI contestant. David is really good too.

I tend to like male vocalists best.

Michael Johns is the Australian guy,I think. We think he's awesome.
There were a lot of people in that top 24 that I don't recognize at all so it'll be interesting to hear them for the first time.

'found out that most of the 24 had already been in some other reality shows before or talent contests and some had recordings already.

David A(young David with the smile)- he was in the junior singer category in Star Search 2003
Joanne B(the plus size model)- 'guess she won on MoNique's Fat Chance' reality show
Robbie (long hair guy) he was in a pop group Boyz N Girlz United and supposedly dated Britney Spears
Jason (the other long haired guy) he was in some show in MTV Cheyenne
David Cook- He already had a solo album before
Kristy Lee - was once signed by Arista
Amy - 'was on Nashville Star
Michael Lee Johns- 'had a band The Rising
Alexandrea- was on Star Search
Luke- (I thought he looks like Luke Perry)- he's in a singing group Chapter 6
Syesha (the one with the yes)- was on The One- Making a Music Star
Carly- had release a record with MCA before
Brooke- had realease an album 3 years ago and opened for Phil Vassar on tour
Jason- was on Making the Band

I'm sure if we go to the AI website this morning they will have posted the top 24. k
