OK, here you go Shar-Mar. She loves to play the piano, read, doodle at sketching, she absolutely adores animals, snuggle up to me (which is what she'd say is her "favorite thing to do-o-o-o!!"), take walks, and play with bare baby feet. Her favorite colors are blue (all shades), purple, green (the paler shades), pink, and red. She's a nature girl, all right; in fact, if she had her way, we'd live up in the mountains (in a log home) away from everybody.

Does that answer your questions?

LOL; yes, somewhat.

I guess a weekend in a mountain cabin would not have a big impact . . . seeing that's how y'all live all the time.

I'll think about it for a couple of days and see if anything comes to mind.

That's only how we wish we lived, Shar-Mar. Living in WV does meant that we're surrounded by them, but the real mountainous areas around here are about 2 hours away. Oh, btw, there's one more problem: nobody to stay with Mary's dad if we go anywhere overnight. At least, no one who would do it for free and is experienced in caring for a stroke victim. Her Dad is getting better each day, but he can't feed himself and his speech still hasn't returned. So the "something special" has to be only a few hours in length. That may narrow your choices. Plus, I've already made an appointment for her to get a perm on her b-day. So anything else is gonna be icing on the cake.

DUANE - NEIGHBOR - BUDDY OF MINE!!!!!!!

You know, even though I sing the song when I see it, it didn't register. So, I have to ask. Have you hiked Seneca Rocks - can my 10/11 yo do it and how is the hike under the whatever-Gorge bridge? (royal?)

Because I wanna, I REALLY WANNA do those things, and hike the Dolly Sods too.

In my spare time.

By the way, I saw a bald eagle the other day. Carrying a HUGH stick so I assume it is part of a nesting pair.

The neatest part was hearing Mom exclaim over it. I have seen one before and Mom didn't believe me when I told her, so I was very pleased to be there when she saw it.

Write a whole bunch of little love notes (or one long love note divided into parts) and hide them in all the places she could find them without help (her undies drawer, taped to the shampoo bottle, in the loaf of bread, written on an egg and so on. A variation of that is to create a treasure hunt so she finds the first one which will have hints on where the next one will be. At the end you could have a small gift OR you could design it to end at the bed where you have a bottle of wine, a bit of chocolate and some big red hearts.

Another idea is to get a whole bunch of hearts of various kinds and sizes and suspend them from the ceiling on thread or attach them to all the different things she'll see (bathroom mirror, blow dryer, your wedding photo and so on).

Have a progressive supper for your anniversary. Go to one place for an appetizer, the next place for salad, a third place for your entree (could be a hamburger if you're really tight on money), a fourth for dessert and a fifth for a cup of coffee.

If your 10 or 11 year old has more lung capacity than I do, Mbee, then it can be done. I did manage to hike to the top of Seneca Rocks about 18 years ago (when I was in worse shape!). There were a number of us from our church, mostly singles, although there were a few married couples. I was the last one to the top of the trail, and Mary was frantic as to whether I was having a heart attack. My weight, plus my childhood asthma, really played havoc with my ability to climb, but I made it. The hike back down to the bottom was different matter altogether - I slapped it in "B" for "Boogie" and left just about everyone in the dust - except for the two crazies who decided to run straight down the mountain. They cut through the woods and took a straight line to the bottom, crossing the trail every so often. I think they may have gotten into trouble with a Ranger for what they did, but I wouldn't swear to it.

The New River Gorge Bridge is the one you're thinking of, and I've never hiked that trail. And I probably never will; a friend of mine from church was killed by a train as he and 3 other friends hiked through the rail tunnel. I can say, however, that I was one of the few "civilians" to ever walk out on the steel of the Gorge Bridge while it was under construction. My Dad, who was an engineer with the Highway Department at the time, drove us up there one Saturday and he got permission for me to walk out to the end of the bare steel beam. Boy! Talk about a gut check! That was quite an unnerving sight to a 14 year old kid - but I still loved it!!! The views from underneath the bridge are spectacular, at least from the photos I've seen. I hope to get Mary up that way sometime so that we can take the hike.

Sometimes I just don't realize how many days get by me without posting!!

Last Saturday Danielle and I went shopping for her wedding dress.... planning an all day event of it. Well... we were done, checked out and everything by 11:30 a.m. We had a wonderful day though. We went to a movie in the afternoon since we were done shopping.

Then Monday I got off work at 11:30 and went and spent a little more time with Danielle until I was able to go to Angela's (she worked till 3:30)...we went and looked at how the park is looking where her wedding and party will be and checked it out for good picture spots. It will be beautiful there! Then later when I could, I went and visited with Angela and the grandkids. They were all happy to see me. If I recall correctly, that is only my THIRD time being able to see my grandkids this year!!! (not by my choice.... just hard to match schedules)

At work I've been very frustrated... more of the "same old, same old".... on one hand they preach "one call resolution" but out of the other side of their mouth their preaching and expecting you to be off the call in 6 minutes or less EVEN THOUGH we have been waiting for a call sometimes for 5 minutes in between. WELL... because most people DO put their priority of getting off the phone ASAP they tell the person whatever they want to hear to get them off the phone so when it (whatever "it" is doesn't happen) when they call back their angry, of course....and take longer to resolve. Today I tracked all my calls and I had 6 out of 26 calls that WEREN'T "problem calls". BUT on the bright side... my manager, who is going to a new position within the company, came to me today and said that they will be posting a job in her new department and she WANTS me to apply for it. I certainly will!!!!

Denny said..

Wouldja like to go back to 21 again?

No...well, unless like Duane said I could go back with what I know now and avoid all my biggest mistakes. Well.. actually... not even then because as painful as they were, my biggest mistakes led me to where I am now.... married to the nicest, most patient, wonderful guy I've ever known in my whole life. I wouldn't want it any other way.

Thanks for the belated birthday wishes, Mike!!

No prob for the "hijack" MBee.... it's a free speech forum thread. I don't feel my physical age either. I don't think it, I don't feel it, I just am. It's only a number.

Those sound like wonderful ideas, Maggie!!

Love the avatar, Shar Mar.... I loved the last one too... but this one works too.

Nice eagle, Bill.

Have a great rest of the week... just in case I lose track of time again!

I read about your birthday here or there, Sheila! Sounds like you had a perfect day! We celebrated our anniversary very simply. We had some leftovers from a takeout and it tasted even better than the first time around. We also had root beer floats. A quiet time together is so meaningful.

How cool, M-Bee, seeing a bald eagle. I never have seen one.

You know - it is funny because I almost took it for granted. Even though it is only the second time I saw one there, they have been nesting for years and there are folks who have talked about it and shared pictures so it is almost 'old news.'

When I saw one several years ago, my mom and dad insisted it was wrong and went so far as to insinuate there was not a nesting pair in the area. To hear Mom get excited about it was priceless.

Thank you, Sharon, for your sweet greeting; it's so very special to have you share in our day.

Hey, M-bee, that's cool to see such a change in someone so they can enjoy it with you!

Overall I am good, PC.... I have a cold as of yesterday so, as you know, that doesn't make my job easy since being stuffed up makes it harder to hear and be heard....but hopefully it doesn't last long. The last one only lasted a day.

Glad you liked it, Trish... I thought it was cute.

I am looking SO forward to this weekend. Well, I know... I look forward to EVERY weekend, but ESPECIALLY this one. We have our plant sale on Saturday in support of mission trips, then from there we are heading "out of Dodge". We are going up to Door County for the weekend. Hopefully the weather will suprise us and warm up a bit!! I have never been up there and hope there are flowers blooming and such. We are staying Saturday night at a B&B in a room and then Sunday and Monday nights we will be in another B&B but it's in a little cottage of "our own". I just looked on their websites and one of them says that May 1-31 is "Door County's Festival of Blossoms"... yay!

Yesterday I went for a walk after work and even with my cold as I was walking all of a sudden I would smell a beautiful smell... it was the apple trees and crabapple trees blossoming! They smell SO good!! In our lawn we have crabapple trees and the lilac bushes are getting ready to bloom as well. Can't smell them as good right now becuase the neighbor has been spreading manure on the fields.

Well...anyway.... keep praying and have a great day!

I should see if I can get a copy of the Door Reminder and their Vacation Guide to you before you leave. That is one of the publications I work on on Mondays.

I have only been up there once and that was years ago. We were on our way to Michigan, but Jeff's brother and wife were staying in the Door County so we stopped and went to a park and had a picnic lunch. If I remember correctly it was kind of brisk back then too weather wise.
Josh and Anoush had a honeymoon weekend up there too.

Have a great day.

Cool, Sharon!! If you were able to get one, let me know, (call me), I could always stop and get it after work....or tomorrow.

I sure hope my cold is gone by then. I saw on one of the websites that May 1-31st is their "Blossom Festival"... I want to be able to smell the blossoms on all the trees!!

Our apple, crabapple trees and lilac bushes are blooming! They are so pretty!!

LOL Momma_bee!

I also had a visual of looking at a map and seeing all styles of doors standing up on the penninsula.

I am SO excited... I know it's pitiful but I didn't even realize Door County was on the penninsula!! I thought it was just in northern Wisconsin! Now that I do I am even more excited!! LOL!!

I looked it up and told Poppa he should try and take me there some time. DeeDee was looking over my shoulder and asked where Poppa was taking US. I said I don't think so Sunshine....

It looks like it would be beautiful, no matter when you went...
