Interesting you bring up stirring.........Last night in small group we had a long discussion about stirring.

I understand that there was an earthquake in London right under James Bond's house. Apprently he slept through the whole thing. You could say he was shaken not stirred.

(And just to redeem the moemnt, how many times does God shake us yet we don't wake up?)

God doesn't usually wake me with a shake because my tendency is to roll over and cover my head until he stops shaking me..........

He has found a much more effective way of waking me up.......sometimes it takes a while to get me awake but it always leads to a much better result........he slowly kisses me awake.......

This way being woken up is always a positive experience........and not one which leaves me confused or befuddled.

Hi Joy. I so appreciated your recent visit to my thread, so I thought I'd drop by yours.

What gives me joy today? I hadd a good study in Exodus about obedience. I love Scripture!

Hi DebbieLynne. Thanks for stopping by.

I will have to wander over to your thread and see if you shared what God spoke to you through your study in Exodus about obedience.

God's word is full of things to add to the joy in our lives....that is for sure.

Hi again, Joy . . . decided to check out your thread, and am so glad I did! What wonderful expressions of JOY to be found here!

Also, this . . . .
quote:

A moment came of sadness. The beauty was to breathtaking not to have someone to share it and I was alone. (Well my dog Gilbert was there but he didn't seem to interested in the awe inspiring view)

I lifted my eyes toward the heavens and explained to the Lord how very sad it was not to have someone with whom to share this beauty.

. . . I thought as I was reading that, but she's NOT sharing it alone, she's sharing it with ALL of us!!! And, in turn, giving us all our own taste of JOY for the day! Yeah, I know it's not quite the same as having someone walking with you on that shore and sharing the beautiful vistas you describe, but . . thank you, Joy . . . look forward to reading more . . . I've never seen the shores of our Great Lakes . . maybe someday

And my own joy for the day (before visiting your thread, that is ) was to watch precious Garrett smiling and laughing and playing this morning, trying valiantly to forget about the device that he has to wear in his blind eye -- a plastic 'lens' that causes him great discomfort, even pain, but the doctor says he must wear so that eye socket will grow and they will eventually be able to fit him with a prosthetic eye. He is such a trooper -- just 2½ and has gone thru more pain than most of us experience in a lifetime, yet he keeps on smiling.

Garrett, btw, is toddler I keep 3 days a week. Born at 25 weeks, he's very, very behind age-wise, but in some ways so far ahead of what many of us are -- an acceptance of his fate in life with a smile on his face and joy in his heart. I know, he's not old enough to realize what he 'missed' yet, but he's certainly old enough to know pain. And yet, he just keeps smiling -- laughing ---- giggling, actually! Finding joy in the simplest of things . . . the wind in his face, the sun on his back, hands tickling his tummy . . yeah -- this is my joy for the day . . and you have just added to it -- Thank you again, Joy!

Hey, I see JohnO has stopped by to share a punny story! Hi John!

I love Leah's telling about Garrett! There is something very special about the joy a toddler experiences ....... seeing things through my son's eyes when he was just a little bitty guy was so amazing! The wind in his face. Yay! We just take it for granted, shrug our shoulders, sweep our hair out of our face, but to stop and just enjoy the sensation, the feel of the wind, isn't that wonderful? We can learn so much from little ones.

A smile crept into my heart this morning as I watched the day unfold. A gentle sunrise. Gentle colors in pastel. As if God was telling me, it's going to be a good day, filled with His love.

Leah I can't tell you how much your post meant to me. I read it last night as I was closing down the office and heading home. Thank you so much.

This is beautiful and a great reminder of how we are to be as children of the Lord........Finding joy in the simplest things no matter the circumstances of our lives......Why is it the older we get the more we allow circumstances to hold our joy hostage? The Joy of the Lord is the Joy of a child as he discovers the wonders of life.
quote:

We just take it for granted, shrug our shoulders, sweep our hair out of our face, but to stop and just enjoy the sensation, the feel of the wind, isn't that wonderful? We can learn so much from little ones.
So very true Sam.........the crazy thing is all it takes is stopping long enough to allow yourself to enjoy the sensation.......The wind doesn't stop blowing as we grow up we just get to busy to stop and lift our faces up to it.

I was laughing as the day woke up this morning.........I am sure any neighbors looking out the window were laughing as well.

We had a storm come in last night which started with sheets of rain and high winds later turning into snow and very very cold temps........this morning when I woke up it was 1 degree and -30 with wind chill.

All the doors on my car were frozen shut...I tried everything I could think of including (now this is where the neighbors would have laughed if they saw me)doing karate kicks on the side of the door......

Now so that you clearly see the picture I am describing allow in your mind imagines of Texas Ranger fighting the bad guys........That was me.....Fighting the iced up door with my arms and legs...........I lost.......

Fortunately I was not thinking last night when I parked and forgot to roll up my drivers window(I won't mention the reason the door would not open is because the rain and snow had gotten in the car and frozen the door on the inside) leaving it cracked just enough to slide my arm in the window and roll down the window.......

Next came me trying to figure out how I could crawl in the window........at one point I got my upper body in with my legs up in the air outside.......thinking I could just slid right in........didn't work .........my laughing hysterically probably didn't help........

I went in the house and got a chair thinking I could stand on the chair and just step into the window then slide in that way.......I know this would have worked except for my big ole bottom. I got both legs in and bent my knees to try and slide down into the window when the pull of gravity forced my bottom down....luckily the chair was still there to catch my bottom....leaving me sitting on a wooden chair beside my car with my legs in the window...........LOLOLOL........I am laughing just thinking about it.

God what am I going to do I asked........

Then a moment of brilliance........why not turn on the car......roll the window up as far as I can.....put a blanket over the open part and let the car do the work........

My little girl, whom I was so proud of, started on the first try and stayed running without me having to press the gas for 15 minutes when the door opened.......

My morning just reminded me how silly I look when I try to solve problems first my own way instead of praying and asking God for wisdom.........It was only after I prayed.....ok more like cried out..... That God planted the thought in my mind.........start the car and turn on the heat..........Now why didn't I ask him earlier LOL

God and I had a good laugh on my way to work.........

Hi Leah.........I am glad my adventures made you laugh.......

Do you watch Garrett at your house or his? Do you run a daycare or watch him more to help out the parents?

You know what I realized.........I don't know how many people realize this but animals from the same family living in a cold weather territory will always be 25% or more larger then those who reside in warmer climates...........

God created animals to adapt to colder climates by having their bodies build fat stores.......

This morning after spending so much time outside in the cold I am starving..........(Hacienda???)

I realized I need to move to a hot climate if I want to lose weight LOL

Hey Joy, we had wind chills as cold or colder, but not the laughter that your morning held!! When I looked out my window there weren't any people at all- they were all inside keeping warm!!!!! I was thankful that my garage door opener and car starter worked ! And now I'm smiling because your story just reminded me to use that car starter again and "warm up" the engine so it will start again when I go home tonight- so thanks!

The great thing about being so cold is the sun is out again... it was such a long dreary stretch we had the last few weeks. It feels so good to have had some sun lately.

Hey Sam, we could use some of your heat up here, I'd be glad to send you some of our cold- do ya think it might work???

Car starter???? What is that?

Yes it is really a beautiful day......the sun really makes the ice on the roads look like brilliant diamonds........which is good since seeing it as diamonds helps you forget you are driving on a sheet of ice LOL

LOL Joy! . . . I'm not at all sure the hot weather would help that . . . it certainly wouldnt' for me -- I'd just grow more lethargic & lazy -- and likely fatter

I watch Garrett at his house. His dad lives with his girlfriend (his dad's girlfriend, not Garrett's ); she has 2 children, but they go to a daycare. Garrett, couldn't be left at a daycare at the point I started caring for him (15 months). He had a colostomy, had just come off oxygen, was just beginning to try to eat baby food, and required lots of special care. He hardly even made any sounds. He's pretty verbal now, but still not trying to form words. His colostomy has been reversed, and he's closer to 'normal', but still very behind. So, his 2½ years should put him in with toddlers that he would be unable to keep up with. He's simply an older infant. I am assuming that's why they haven't placed him in day care yet. I love taking care of him, I make good money at it, and I don't want it to end -- so I don't bring the subject up

I would gladly send you some heat, but there isn't much to send right now. Okay, okay, I know ya'll think 37 is fairly toasty, but for this thin-blooded gal, it's cold. I have received more than one invitation this morning to come and experience some real cold ...... but I'm not afraid to admit that I'm a cold-weather wuss

Yes, getting older means I don't have to be afraid to admit that!!
