I like them alot, Nicole. I love the black/white/pink for Grace's room!
Have you picked fabrics yet? I would do that before you choose paint colors.

Yeah we will be busy painting. Not sure how we are going to do it all with a baby who can now crawl and get into everything...
Well hubby and I have our quilt that I bought in January so I know the colours will match with that or compliment.
Grace still has a dorothy quilt on her bed so I will by her a new quilt cover soon, being white, black and pink will be easy to find something with those colours or 1 or 2 of the colours. She has a blind but will need new curtains.
For Naths room he will be in his cot still so no idea about his. I need to see if the curtains we have in there can be died because they were made purple when we had it as Graces room.
Our room just has lace curtains and a blind.
For the lounge we aren't doing anything colour wise really, just creams or coffees, we won't be getting a new lounge for a few years and we have wooden blinds in there so I think we will be safe.

Ok so I was thinking.... Grace's furniture is wooden, so is that going to look dumb with the pink/black/white? Would you paint the bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe white? I hate the thought of painting furniture though, it doesn't seem right some how.
Nath's room doesn't really have anything in it, its all bits and pieces, he has a chest of drawers that hubby stained a reddish type wood, I guess that will go ok with blue, will wait to see.
I really just want one of those rooms you see in the magazines but I don't think its possible in the real world 
I bought off white curtains for their rooms, they have like a stripe to them. I bought Grace a decorative fancy type pink quilt cover, the pink is a few different shades, I think it will look nice, I hope it does!

Those colors are nice Nicole. They are very soothing and happy looking. I dont think you'd have to pain the furniture (though I am not very good at decorating) but wood look seems to go with everything I think.

If it was me, I would probably paint the furniture black or white depending on how you want it to feel. Can you take a picture of the furniture? What color is the wood?

Oh, since her furniture is cherry I would just leave it, it will look fine with the black/white/pink. If it was a lighter natural it might have been better painted but I think it will be great!

Ok, no painting the furniture 
I have a question about the fireplace in the lounge HERE and then its on the other side in Grace room HERE. Now because we are painting half the wall one colour and the top part another, what should I paint these? They dont have the picture rail thing going across???
Also, should we be painting the rail in our room (its the pale blue on bottom, off white up top) a different white, the blue, or the off white?

LOL Hubby doesn't think it is glowy at all Zippy, he thinks its girly.
Hmm Sarah you could be right, we will see how it looks like that I think, maybe even if we do a few coats more on the fireplace.

Well we had a man come and give us a quote for the kitchen last night. It was so quick, not sure if I really get what he is planning, he will give us the quote on monday I think. I have another quote today. Its hard not having the laundry in the house that I need another cupboard to store all that sort of gear. and we lose a wall because of the old oven.
We did buy a new oven, cooktop, range hood and fridge last night though!!

Jsut wondering on some opinions on lay outs, what you have found worked or didn't work?
One kictchen guy has this sort of lay out
Our kitchen is u-shaped, you enter by walking down one step and right infront of you about 3 metres away is the window, so there is going to be sink/dishwahser there and then he said next to it will be 2-door pantry. On the other side of sink is benches and overhead cupboards, then coming round the side will be the wall oven, then on the other side (so now you are turning back towards the wall the step is at) will be oven plate, bit of a bench and then the fridge.
The other guy has this
you step down and across is benches and sink and over head cupboards, you come round and the oven is sort of sticking out a bit from the wall and then you have next to that a pantry on an angle or corner then you have a broom closet next to that and then the fridge. So all the big items are all together so that when you come down the step you see lovely open spaces and you don't have pantry on one side, fridge on the other (and the 1st one had no broom cupboard and I want one).
Does that all make sense?
Which would you pick and why?

Sorry I know it was hard to understand!! So where the sink is now, that's getting moved back about a metre to the window so we will have a HUGE space between the sink and that wall opposite it. That wall opposite the sink is where the 2nd guy though of having the appliances and pantry etc. The oven will be where the old one is, but we are first blocking that bit off and starting from srcatch again. then following the oven round to the sink again will be all bench top (counters) and cupboards .That's with the 2nd guy. You can read the 1st one again I guess.
So there would be a triangle either layout I think....

btw Kylie I DETEST open plan living, but hubby likes it, so we have compromised, he gets open plan down in the kitchen/dining and i get the lounge room separate.

Ok, I have sketched 3 designs
HERE and HERE they are.
Tell me what you think of them please? I was thinking of maybe an island bench just by the oven maybe????
Where its blank that is bench, and then there would be overhead cupboards.

I like #3 because of the pantry being straight and because I don't know what value a hot plate would have. That seems like wasted space because of my cooking habits. The pantry in 1&2 looks roomy, but seems like it would hide stuff and be difficult to use.
