To round out my earlier post to make it a top 10 I would add Herman Harper, Aycel Soward and Jim Waits. To list in order of favorite or as i would say my personal best. Big Chief, JD, Mike Holecolmb, London Paris, Billy Todd, AycelSoward, Herman Harper, Rusty (more for his songwriting) George Younce ( a good singer but better MC a great man but seems over rated in his singing along side the greats in my opionion) and Jim Waits. As with everything just my view and worth exactly what you paid for it $0.00 lol. By the way i am in my early 40's and have listened to southern gospel all my life. Only heard Mike, Billy Todd, Rusty, and George live. This list is my view from recorded singing.

Big Chief was the total package against which all bass singers may be compared. No one bass singer has had the quality voice, striking appearance, song writing ability and overall popularity of Chief. His recitations, such as Little Boy Lost" are unmatched. He was the anchor of the most legendary quartet in southern gospel music. I'm confident that there will never again be a bass singer of his caliber.

It is really hard to limit to three but I will go with Jeff Chapman, Jeremy Lyle, and Aaron Mccune.
